Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 455 - 394: Both Palms and Backs Of Hands Are Flesh (Third Update)
In the afternoon, Tong Airui returned home, bringing back two multifunctional baby cribs.
Yi Luowa looked at the adorable little cribs and smiled, "Why did you rush to buy them so soon?"
"Acting first gives me an advantage," Tong Airui chuckled. "If I wait, Dad will definitely buy everything. These cribs are just like the ones we got for Old Seven’s baby. They look good, don’t they?"
"Yeah, they look great! I like this pink one."
"The pink one is for our daughter, and the blue one is for our son." Tong Airui smiled and glanced at his wife’s belly.
Yi Luowa pouted, "What if it’s the same gender?"
"Don’t worry! With your husband’s superior genes, how could there be a one-type planting?"
Just as Fourth Lord was feeling proud, the housekeeper entered with a group carrying a whole load of items. Yi Luowa laughed and asked, "What is all this?"
"The Prime Minister bought these for the children. There’s another truckload coming later."
Yi Luowa and Tong Airui exchanged glances and burst into laughter, "Are cribs included in all this?"
The housekeeper glanced at the list in his hand and nodded, "Yes, there are cribs!"
"Honey, we’ve got duplicates," Yi Luowa laughed.
Tong Airui twitched the corner of his mouth. "The ones Dad bought can be used by Old Five’s kids. Our baby will sleep in the ones I picked."
"With your father’s temperament, do you think he listens to you?" Teng Tianxiang, lounging in the living room, smirked.
"Weren’t you the same back in the day?" Ouyang Beilei scolded him with a glare.
Tong Yao chuckled helplessly and instructed the housekeeper, "First store these things in the ground floor warehouse. Once the upstairs nursery is renovated, move them there."
The housekeeper acknowledged the order and led the group to store the items.
Tong Yao sighed softly and looked at her son, "Rui’er, don’t bother buying things for the baby in the future. Your dad said he’s handling it all. There’s no point competing with him."
Tong Airui sighed, "Fine, I won’t buy anything anymore."
Yi Luowa pursed her lips and smiled.
Tong Airui playfully ruffled her hair, "What did you have for lunch?"
Yi Luowa pouted, "I ate too much at lunch; I’m still stuffed."
"Want to take a stroll?"
Yi Luowa glanced at the window, "Is it cold outside?"
"It’s fine today. The sun is shining nicely. Wait here; I’ll get your coat," Tong Airui said as he quickly headed to the bedroom.
Fourth Lord returned with a hooded coat, helping his wife dress warmly and putting on insulated shoes before they stepped outside.
After they left, Ni Lu smiled and said, "Rui’er is so attentive, treating Luowa like a queen. Luowa is so lucky."
"The lucky one is Rui’er. Luowa is so considerate, almost heartbreakingly so," Tong Yao sighed. "She’s scared of causing trouble for the family, so cautious she won’t even step outside, afraid she’ll catch a cold and fall ill."
Yan Zi joined in with a sigh, "Being overly scared isn’t helpful. The more you stay cooped up inside, the easier it is to get sick. As long as the weather’s nice, we should take her out regularly. Look at Shanshan—after the three-month mark, she’s been going to the hospital with Kaikai every day, and even in this cold weather, she’s been perfectly fine."
Under the hallway, Tong Airui was helping Yi Luowa adjust her hat. Hearing the voices from the living room, they exchanged glances.
Tong Airui tenderly touched her cheek, "Hear that? Everyone’s commenting on how overly considerate you are. This is your home. You don’t need to be so afraid of causing trouble. The more you act this way, the worse everyone feels inside."
Yi Luowa crinkled her nose. "I’m mostly concerned about the baby. You know what they say—medicine is three parts poison. If I get sick and need injections or medication, it would impact the baby."
"Live for yourself!" Tong Airui wrapped her in his arms. "I’ll clear up everything on the other side in the next few days, then I’ll stay home and accompany you for a while."
Yi Luowa smiled softly, "No need, handle your work. I’ll adjust myself. By the way, have there been any updates about Ruan Dawang?"
"Still searching. He’s likely going mad. The news from over there says he’s been very down lately."
Yi Luowa asked worriedly, "This wouldn’t affect border affairs, would it?"
Tong Airui held her close as they walked under the sunlight. "It won’t. His name is just borrowed authority; the real military leadership lies with Captain Wang, who’s an exceptional talent."
"That’s good to hear. Honey, Jack uncle’s coming tomorrow, Youyou is already sorted out, but I’m worried about Ni Lu aunt."
Tong Airui chuckled, "Don’t worry. Just as mountains always give way to roads, no matter how tough, I’ll pave the path for them."
Yi Luowa hugged his waist. "Honey, you’re so amazing! With you here, I fear nothing."
Tong Airui shook his head, "I’m not perfect. Were it not for me, you wouldn’t have to be so cautious."
"That’s all in the past. You’re not allowed to bring it up again!" Yi Luowa pouted.
"You may have forgiven me, but in my heart, the guilt still lingers like a shadow..."
"Tong Airui, I’m the one who started it back then!" Yi Luowa interrupted in frustration.
Fourth Lord froze momentarily before laughing, "So you were the one seducing me?"
Yi Luowa solemnly nodded, but realizing how inappropriate it sounded, she viciously pinched his waist.
"Ow!"
That soft exclamation sounded all too familiar!
Yi Luowa laughed and pinched him again, "Don’t mimic me!"
"Haha... Not bad! You caught that? Honey, truth be told, every time you say ’Ow’ like that, it drives me crazy."
Yi Luowa playfully glared at him. "You should’ve told me sooner! I’d have stopped saying it."
"If you stop, it’d lose its charm!" Tong Airui smiled helplessly. "Honestly, I planned for us to wait until you graduated to have kids, but these little troublemakers rushed into our lives unexpectedly. And they sure gave us quite a scare."
Yi Luowa suppressed her laughter as they strolled through the courtyard, their shadows intertwined on the ground behind them.
The next day, Jack arrived early with Ni Lu’s specialist doctor and his two sons. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Ni Lu glanced at them in surprise, "Jack, didn’t you say you’d come over the weekend? Why are you here today?"
Noah and Kerry ran to their mother, smiling brightly, "We missed you and our sister. We wanted to see the baby in her belly."
"You two silly kids! The baby’s still in your sister’s belly—how are you planning to see it? Did you skip school or take leave?"
"Leave! Considering the weekend, we can stay here for four days," Kerry grinned.
Ni Lu lovingly stroked her sons’ heads.
Jack gave his wife a deep look before turning to Tong Yao.
Tong Yao smiled, "Everything’s ready—who’ll say it, you or me?"
Ni Lu turned to them suspiciously, "Say what?"
Jack let out a soft laugh, "Ni Lu, the professor and I need to discuss something with you."
Ni Lu stared at him, puzzled, "Discuss what? You just arrived—haven’t even seen Luowa yet. Talk after you’ve met her."
Tong Yao walked up and gently pulled Ni Lu’s arm, "Come, let’s sit down and talk slowly. Luowa’s chatting with Youyou right now; by the time we’re done, they’ll probably come out."
Yan Zi joined them, helping Tong Yao pull Ni Lu to sit down.
Ni Lu laughed helplessly, "Why do I feel like this is bad news?"
"It’s good news!" Jack settled beside her. "Ni Lu, haven’t you always liked Youyou? Let’s officially recognize her as our daughter."
Ni Lu rolled her eyes at him, "All that tension, just for this? You nearly scared me to death!"
"Ni Lu, let me show you something." Jack took a folder from his bag and handed it to her.
Ni Lu stared curiously, flipping through the contents, "What’s this?"
"A paternity test."
"Paternity test?" Ni Lu’s hand trembled slightly, almost dropping the folder. "Jack, what are you saying?"
"There are two reports here—one for you and Luowa, and the other for you and Youyou." Jack grasped her hand firmly. "Ni Lu, you’ve been healthy for so long now. Didn’t you ever feel, seeing how much Youyou resembles you, that something seemed off? Youyou is our biological daughter, while Luowa is the child of the woman in the next ward."
Ni Lu’s lips quivered uncontrollably. After a long pause, she choked out, "Jack, don’t be so cruel! Luowa is a good girl. She called me ’Mom’ during my darkest moment, and that saved me. Now that I’m better, you want me to push her away? I can’t do it—I just can’t!"
Tong Yao sighed softly, "Ni Lu, I know you care deeply about Luowa, but can you truly walk away from Youyou, your biological daughter?"
"Can’t I have both as my daughters?" Ni Lu seemed panicked, glancing between them. "I know this is selfish of me, but they’re both a part of me—I can’t bear to choose either."
In the bedroom, Yi Luowa and Youyou clung to each other, their eyes brimming with tears as they listened.
