Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 431 - 377: People Age but the Kidneys Fail First! (One more update)
Everyone put down their teacups, and Mi Chenxuan quickly refilled them for everyone.
Team Captain Min raised his teacup, "Engineer Yi, this cup is from all of us to you!"
Everyone raised their teacups as well.
Team Captain Min said with a smile, "Some of you may not have worked in the command vehicle and might not know Engineer Yi very well. She is the most intelligent woman I’ve met in all these years! But I’m not here to talk about her brilliance. What I want to highlight is her character—she is the most empathetic, the one who knows best how to care for everyone’s emotions. The Audridge family has brought forth another great lady! Our team captain is truly fortunate!"
Tong Airui curled his lips slightly; that was exactly what he liked to hear.
Yi Luowa smiled modestly, "Team Captain Min, you’re embarrassing me with such praise."
"Don’t be embarrassed. I’ll take the liberty of saying this: from now on, we’re teammates. I’ll drink this cup first out of respect." Team Captain Min lifted his teacup and downed it in one shot.
Everyone followed his lead and drank as well.
Yi Luowa, too, drank hers in one bold gulp.
Tong Airui smiled and raised his hand slightly, "Alright, let’s not all just keep downing drinks. We’ve got so much seafood here; everyone, eat more."
Everyone settled into their seats, at ease, chatting and eating. By the time they had finished the meal, the sky had already darkened.
After dinner, Tong Airui took Yi Luowa on a sightseeing car and began a tour around the island.
The island’s bustling scene was something Yi Luowa hadn’t expected. By evening, customers kept pouring in and out of the specialty shops.
The bars had also lit up by now, with groups of guests heading inside.
Mi Chenxuan had been tagging along with them. After covering two-thirds of the tour, he suddenly complained and asked to get off to buy a small gift for You.
Tong Airui, already annoyed by him, was eager to see him leave.
Once Mi Chenxuan got off, Tong Airui chuckled, "In a bit, I’ll take you to spend a night at the wooden house where I used to live."
Yi Luowa asked suspiciously, "Didn’t you say there’s a meeting on the ship at ten tonight?"
"All the hotels here are fully booked. The team members can only stay on the ship. But our family’s houses have always been vacant and aren’t open to outsiders."
"Should we pick up some gifts for our families too?" Yi Luowa, realizing there was no strict time limit, felt a little excited.
"What do you want to buy?" Tong Airui asked with a smile.
"I don’t know! Let’s browse casually. If something interesting catches my eye, I’ll get it."
"Can you finish shopping in an hour?" Tong Airui lightly pinched her waist.
"An entire night wouldn’t be long enough!" Yi Luowa slapped his hand away. "Let’s go down and walk at our own pace. Let Yuan Hang and Kou’er have some fun too."
Tong Airui nodded and got off the car with Yi Luowa.
Yuan Hang seemed a little uneasy. "Sir, let me give Dapeng a call just in case?"
"The island is full of our people; there’s nothing to worry about. Go enjoy yourselves!" Tong Airui waved him off and walked into a small souvenir shop with Yi Luowa.
Yi Luowa looked around, glancing here and there but seemingly found nothing that interested her, so she pulled Tong Airui outside.
A middle-aged man hurriedly approached them and almost bumped into Yi Luowa. Tong Airui, quick to react, pulled Yi Luowa into his arms.
Apologetically, the man nodded slightly and then asked Yi Luowa, "Excuse me, have you seen a little girl? She’s about your height, has short hair, and is wearing a white dress..."
"Haven’t seen her." Tong Airui didn’t wait for the man to finish before escorting Yi Luowa to another store.
"That man’s child is lost. He must be upset; why were you so dismissive?"
Tong Airui interrupted her with certainty, "If he had really lost a child, he wouldn’t have looked the way he did."
Yi Luowa frowned slightly. She hadn’t noticed anything unusual about the man’s expression.
"His words conveyed urgency, but his eyes didn’t. He kept his gaze fixed on you."
Yi Luowa glanced at him, then nodded in understanding. Here he went again—overanalyzing things!
Tong Airui raised his hand to ruffle her hair. "What’s with that look on your face?"
"It’s the look of someone who gets what you mean," Yi Luowa replied with a sly smile before stepping into a store. "The scarves here are nice. They even seem to carry the scent of the sea."
"Since when do scarves smell like the sea?" Tong Airui knew she was changing the subject and shook his head with a chuckle.
"Let’s get these scarves for Grandma and Mom. I think their styles suit them well."
Tong Airui nodded. "You decide. I’ll go along with whatever you say."
"If you’re going to listen to everything I say, then I suggest you help that man find his child."
Tong Airui didn’t respond. His usually sharp eyes turned dark as he glanced at some shop assistants, who, with hearts practically in their eyes, were about to rush over. Intimidated by Tong Airui’s gaze, they froze in their tracks.
