Chapter 261: Impromptu Lesson I

"Targets? Witnesses?"

Jamie’s brow furrowed and he finally paused his drama to properly take in the situation on the ground.

He noticed that the only ones being attacked by the elite elves were David, Davina and Wanette. This was something he’d attributed to them being the strongest of the lot, but from the leader’s words just now, he had to change that assumption.

"He said Targets. Not one target, but multiple. Anyone else is just a witness to eliminate."

Jamie’s gaze moved from the elite elf trio to the leader, his fingers tapping on his phone screen as he thought.

’We entered this place because of a gate malfunction. But what if it wasn’t really a malfunction?’

Jamie’s thoughts drifted back to the moment the distortion in the spatial tunnel had thrown them off course.

He had checked the gate beforehand, so there was no problem with it.

What had caused them to change locations happened when they were in the middle of the spatial tunnel and initially, he had just let it happen because he wanted to have fun.

’I wasn’t actively or passively looking for malfunctions while we were in the gate, so I didn’t question it then or try to find out the cause. But if this was premeditated...’

Then it meant that this whole saga wasn’t random.

And if it wasn’t random—

"Then it’s not ’fun’ anymore."

His deductions only took a few seconds, and in those few seconds, the battle on the ground raged on.

The Vampire trio desperately fended off the elite elves, even as they accumulated injuries.

Davina, blood dripping from her lip, suddenly halted her movements. Her crimson eyes gleamed as she raised her blade and sliced her palm without hesitation, letting the blade drink her blood like a hungry vampire.

Suddenly, the blade ignited, erupting into a torrent of crimson lightning. Strong magic power surged violently around her, paralysing all the elves and the smaller wolves that were fighting, including the elites.

Fulgora—the sword of Race Queen Seren Evangelista, awakened to show a fraction of its real power in the hands of her beloved grandchild.

Lightning cascaded from the blade, and with a swing, Davina struck.

A blinding arc of blood lightning streaked through the air, colliding with one of the elite elves nearly instantly and obliterating their upper body with little resistance.

"?!"

"KAK!?"

The other elves let out shocked noises, with even the leader showing visible confusion.

David didn’t waste the opportunity. He lunged forward without hesitation, his spear glowing with concentrated energy as he thrust it towards the nearest elite, aiming to strike when they were stunned.

But before the blow could land, the leader of the elves growled, snapping out of his stupor.

"Enough! Stop playing. Use your full power!"

He commanded and the elite elves obeyed instantly. Their auras exploded, revealing their power as Legendary Realm existences.

The explosion sent shockwaves through the area, blowing back the vampire trio and tossing the adventurers onto the floor like ragdolls.

Davina, still reeling from the backlash of using Fulgora’s power, was easily blown away. Her body hit the ground with a sickening thud, sparks of lightning crackling violently around her arms.

David rushed to her side, catching her before she could fall further, but his arms stiffened under the power of the lightning coursing through her.

Her eye was bleeding profusely, and the veins in her arms were scorched black, lightning arcing across her limbs. Her vampiric regeneration tried to heal the damage, but the ’power’ in the wounds was above what she could currently deal with.

As for the Elite elves, they didn’t hesitate to gather universal law energy with the intent to kill the vampires in one strike.

Their leader watched from behind with a furrowed brow, but just before the elite elves could launch their attacks, Jamie suddenly appeared.

*CLAP!

The sound of his palms hitting one another echoed through the area, followed by his casual declaration.

"That’s a wrap."

With his words, the ambient spatial power latched onto the bodies of all the elves and wolves, immobilizing them as if they were trapped in invisible chains.

Even the leader found himself unable to move, unable to rouse even a smidgen of magic power.

Turning to the vampire trio on the ground, he scored them the way he’d been doing since they entered this place.

"Davina, 5/10. You released too much power in that one slash, causing your backlash to be far too severe. The amount of power in that attack was enough to kill two of those high elves, but you used it up on just one.

David, 5/10 for you. In the heat of the moment, you forgot that your sister was currently suffering the backlash from using a weapon stronger than her and grabbed her with your bare hands.

The wiser decision would have been to use magic power so you wouldn’t have been paralysed, and you’d have been able to take up your spear to protect her.

Wanette, 6/10. You did good with the runes, but you need too much prep time. By the time you could activate those runes you set up in the sky, that Arch Elf over there would have noticed."

Jamie graded them with his harsh standards as he walked over, lifting their bodies with his magic power.

He snapped his right pinkie finger with his thumb and ether flowed from his body, healing all the elves around them.

Then, he circled Davina, placing his hand over hers and casually sliding Fulgora out of her grip.

The sword threatened to lash out at the non-Evangelista who dared touch it, but all Jamie did was look at it, and the blade trembled in instinctive fear.

Walking up beside the girl, he raised the blade and spoke.

"Watch closely. Study how I circulate magic power, as well as how I make the lightning flow through the weapon’s energy circuits.

If you can replicate this, then you’d be able to release greater power from it without having to suffer such backlash."

The moment Jamie began speaking, it dawned on the three vampires that right now, in the middle of battle...he was teaching them.

Jamie got into a stance, where he crossed his right hand in front of his body and his clenched palm that gripped the sword was atop his left shoulder.

Then, he swung the blade forward.

Azure lightning flashed.

The Elf that was about to attack her had two arcs of lightning appear on their chest, and blood splattered through the air as they fell.

Jamie then turned towards Davina and asked.

"Did you catch that?"

"...mhmm."

The young woman nodded absent-mindedly, her gaze flicking from Jamie to the half-dead elf.

"Good. It’s called ’Lightning Severance’. Make it your goal to replicate it before becoming a Legendary."

Jamie tossed Fulgora back to Davina as he spoke, before gesturing to her to deal the finishing blow on the elf.

Snapping his fingers, David’s spear flew into his hands and it was engulfed with azure flames the moment it entered.

Jamie took a moment to adjust his flame output so he didn’t destroy the weapon before speaking to David.

"Watch closely. This little trick is called ’Ignis Gale Rend’."

The man spun the spear by his side, and his act of spinning the spear created a blazing vortex of swirling wind and fire.

Moving the spear to his front, the vortex grew in intensity, and then, with a calculated pullback of the spear, the vortex shifted direction.

Its force yanked two of the mounted elite elves from their wolf mounts, the pair tumbling through the air with startled cries.

**WHOOSH!

That was the only sound that entered David’s ears as Jamie thrust the spear forward, its flaming tip streaking through the air like a comet.

The weapon pierced both elves cleanly through their chests, puncturing their lungs and sending blood splattering around.

Jamie then turned back to David, raising a brow as he asked.

"Did you catch that?"

"...Yes."

David nodded, his gaze moving to the two high elves impaled on his spear.

Clearly, Jamie could have pierced their hearts if he wanted to, but he targeted their lungs instead because he was making a demonstration and wanted David to deal the finishing blows and get the bulk of EXP.

Tossing David’s spear back to him, Jamie teleported to Wanette’s side and grabbed her grimoire.
