Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 230: And on the Seventh Day… III
How long has he been here? When did he even enter?
Those two questions entered the minds of all the Vampire Rulers at that moment, and they all remained in dumbfounded silence until a spatial gate opened up right beside Jamie.
"Hey, Jay. I need you to go over something in Oril-why’s everyone looking here?"
She shifted her words mid-sentence, after seeing the stares everyone was giving Jamie and the man responded without taking his eyes off his game.
"They’re probably surprised I’ve been here for the past 10 minutes without them realising I was here."
"Oh, so the usual you?"
"Yeah, usual me."
Jamie responded and Miranda nodded before continuing what she had wanted to say earlier.
"So, as I was saying. I need you to go over something in Orilan for me."
"I told you, Mira. I don’t want to go back to Orilan for now."
Miranda raised a brow when she heard his response, before quoting his exact words from months ago.
"You said you didn’t want to return to ’Argent’, not Orilan."
Finally, Jamie raised his gaze from his console and looked at her with a deadpan gaze.
"Mira, everything in the Orilan Realm is part of the Argent Empire..."
"You’d only be on the outskirts. No one would notice you."
"..."
Jamie remained silent and Miranda gave him a pleading gaze, holding it until he eventually agreed with a sigh.
"Fine. But only after I’m back from Pinecone."
"No problem."
Miranda responded with a smile and then turned her gaze to the Vampire Rulers and asked.
"What did you want with these guys anyway?"
"I originally just wanted to catch up and all, but after what you told me about Ikerth, I now want them to do a little bit of something for me.
Starting with Ikerth and every other Race Ruler who was involved in Zotov."
When Jamie said this, the Vampire Rulers immediately straightened themselves as they understood that their ’meeting’ with Jamie had already begun.
In fact, from the moment Jamie chose to reveal his presence, it had already started.
"Also, I need to have an inspection carried out. Especially in the Calesius Galaxy.
I left Neo Titania right after dealing with Slaifdein, but I trust that the Star Systems around it are NOT in a deplorable state...right?"
Jamie’s eyes turned to the Vampire Kings who were stationed in Neo Titania and they swallowed their saliva silently.
They understood that he wasn’t asking if the Star Systems had issues, he was asking why they had issues.
"...It’s a bit...complicated-"
"Well, uncomplicate it."
"..."
The Vampire Kings didn’t even know where to start, but luckily, Miranda bailed them out.
"Cut them some slack, Jay. Neo Titania’s issue is related to the Angels."
"And how is that a problem?"
Miranda sat down beside Jamie and moved her seat closer to his before responding with a single word.
"Sarina."
"Oh...Oh!"
Realization dawned on Jamie, but then again he still had some parts he didn’t understand.
"Why is Sarina messing with our territory?"
"She isn’t. She gave an order and her subordinates are going over and beyond with it. These little guys (Vampire Kings in Neo Titania) know that those Angels are Sarina’s subordinates, so they don’t want to end up provoking her by accident.
Which leaves them at a loss on how to handle the matter."
When Miranda explained it for them, the Vampire Kings looked at her with grateful eyes, while Jamie just nodded.
After a moment, he turned towards them and spoke.
"If any of those Angels causes a problem in Calesius from now on, kill them without hesitation. Make sure to keep their souls imprisoned as well.
If anyone asks you why—"
Jamie reached into his subspace and tossed something over to the Vampire Kings before continuing.
"—Tell them I told you to."
"""Yes, Lord Jamie."""
"Good. By the time I’m done with Pinecone and Orilan, I’d go to inspect Calesius.
If there is even a single issue in Neo Titania, then that ’crown’ on your head might just fall off."
Upon hearing Jamie’s mention of a ’crown’, all the Vampires finally realised that at some point they did not notice, illusory crowns had manifested atop the heads of the Vampire Kings in question.
The Manifestations of their Authority as Race Kings.
"There are many others who covet your position. Don’t slack off."
Without looking up from his console, Jamie continued, a casual tone threading through his words.
"Anyways, leaving aside Mira manipulating you lot, I heard some talk that you guys woke me up because you hoped to discover a way to overcome your racial weaknesses or something."
Miranda’s voice interjected with a touch of indignation.
"I didn’t manipulate them, Jay..."
"Did too."
"Did not."
"Did too."
"Did NOT!"
Their banter echoed around the chamber until Jamie finally relented with a dismissive wave, letting silence settle once more.
The Vampire Rulers shifted, straightening their postures, as the attention turned back to them and Waldron took the liberty to speak.
"Lord Jamie, while it is a problem for us, it’s more of an issue for the lower ranks.
Expansion of the Gyran Sector in the Alatheia Galaxy has been stalling due to the Humans and Celestials there.
They have discovered an enormous silver deposit on a Prime World there. Just like Zotov, but for silver.
Due to the continued presence of ’Light’ beings in that sector, the Silver innately possesses a ’holy’ attribute, and arming themselves with it, they have been able to push us back a lot.
Silver alone is an issue, but when added with ’Light’, it becomes triple the problem. And this is all while dealing with the direct solar light of the numerous stars there."
Taking off from Waldron was Bianca Lorelith, one of those who was in favour of the plan to wake Jamie up.
"If we can deal with even just one of these weaknesses. No, even if it’s just reducing the effectiveness of silver on us. It would be very much welcome."
"Rejected."
Jamie’s response came barely a nanosecond after she finished speaking. Still with his gaze on his console, Jamie continued.
"Find different ways to deal with those Sectors. Have the Demons, Dark Elves, or Dwarves help you out."
"But Lord Jam-!"
Bianca’s voice caught in her throat as Jamie looked up at her with narrowed eyes. He didn’t have his usual casual expression and there was even a hint of annoyance in his gaze.
"Tell me, Bianca. Do you want to deal with the consequences that come from breaking the balance?"
"..."
The woman was silent, not because she didn’t want to, but partly because her understanding of the ’balance’ Jamie was talking about was limited.
Sensing this, Jamie explained.
In the Cosmos, there were certain things called Concepts that governed all major and minor parts of existence.
One of the said Concepts was that of Creation.
Then there were the three Cosmic Forces of Chaos, Order and Balance.
These Concepts and Cosmic Forces are woven together, forming the very fabric of existence—and nonexistence.
One of the things their interwoven nature ensures is that for every strength, there must be a weakness. A Balance.
Every race, every being had its weaknesses; it was a universal constant, one that bound both standard and nonstandard existences alike. Some Beings had more weaknesses, and others had almost none.
True perfection was an illusion because the Cosmos itself enforces that kind of Balance. It was a fundamental law built into the very building blocks of reality.
"Take Vampires, for instance. Yours is a powerful race, naturally born with abilities that surpass most others. But with that power comes your own unique set of weaknesses—counters that ensure you don’t eclipse the Balance.
These weaknesses aren’t arbitrary; they’re deliberately placed to keep the scales from tipping too far."
He glanced around the room, noting the reflective expressions of the gathered Vampires.
"Yes, you can rely on artifacts, tools or special powers to dull these weaknesses, perhaps even circumvent them for a time. But to fully, permanently, eliminate them? Nuh-uh.
It simply isn’t possible, not without bending and breaking apart the laws of the Cosmos."
And yet, despite these weaknesses Vampires were still one of the Cosmos’ most powerful races, holding dominance over an untold number of universes.
In fact, they are so powerful that the Cosmos responded by creating a ’Slayer’ race—a line of beings designed specifically to reduce their numbers and counter their influence.
Not every race had the privilege, or the burden, of an opposing Slayer race, after all.
"Now, I’m sure you’re probably wondering how I can exist considering my very existence is a contradiction to what I just told you.
The answer is quite simple, really."
