Chapter 196: Mystery of the Prismatic Flow

Angela carefully held up two test tubes, her movements precise as she examined the contents for a moment before slowly pouring the liquid from one tube into the other. As the two substances combined, a subtle reaction began to take place.

She gave the mixture a gentle shake, and immediately, the contents began to bubble and froth.

The bubbling intensified, and as if propelled by some unseen force, the liquid level started to rise steadily within the test tube.

Jamie could tell that the energy inside the tube was increasing, but he couldn’t tell what was causing this as neither Angela’s internal energy nor the ambient energies of the room moved.

As such, he asked about it, in a very Jamie-like fashion.

"The fuck is going on?"

"..."

Angela offered no answer, remaining focused as she repeatedly tapped the test tube, making its contents slosh around, and then boil until it turned to a sky-blue colour.

She smiled at this result, placed the test tube down and sealed it before turning to Jamie with a questioning glance.

"Did you say something?"

"...Woman, you have superhuman hearing. How did you not catch what I said?"

"Probably because I wasn’t caring."

The woman shrugged as she poked a pen into her hair, glancing around to see if she could find a hairbrush and take care of it before Olivia scolded her again.

Despite being the most powerful Witch in the Universe, a being feared by countless Race Rulers, Angela was scared of being scolded by her teenage daughter.

"Yeah, that’s the kind of person you are. No surprise there."

Jamie nodded to himself in understanding when he heard Angela’s reply to his query, before continuing a moment after.

"So, I was asking what happened there. Where did that extra energy come from?"

"..."

When the word ’energy’ left Jamie’s lips, Angela who was leaning over a table to get the hairbrush on the floor—ignoring the fact that she could just warp it into her hands—nearly fell over the table in shock.

She quickly pushed herself up and removed her glasses, cleaning her eyes with her hands before putting them back on and asking Jamie to repeat himself.

"Did you just say ’extra energy’?"

"I don’t think I stuttered the first time."

Jamie gave a snide reply but Angela ignored it and grabbed the test tube, pushing it towards his face as she asked.

"You perceived energy enter this thing just now?"

"...yeah..."

The teenager looked at her with a confused gaze as she alternated her gaze between Jamie and the test tube.

Then, the woman dropped it and plopped down onto the floor before bursting into laughter. Her laughter echoed through the room, a mixture of disbelief and amusement.

"Hahahaha—damn, I knew—hahaha—you were crazy talented...but—HAHAHAHAHA—this?"

She spoke between fits of laughter, clutching her sides as tears of mirth streamed down her face while Jamie just looked at her like one would a mad person.

"And here I thought you couldn’t get any crazier..."

Angela ignored Jamie’s insult to her sanity as she laughed, shaking her head for a bit before saying.

"Your talent is really worthy of resentment."

"What does sensing energy have to do with being talented? Energy perception is a skill anyone on my level would have."

When Jamie said this, Angela got to her feet and grabbed the test tube, pushing it close to his face as she spoke with a clear voice.

"Jamie, you were not supposed to perceive anything."

"...what?"

"Like I said, you were not supposed to perceive anything. But you perceived energy."

Angela repeated herself with a sigh, shaking the test tube as she continued.

"If I held that thing in front of anyone else, they wouldn’t notice energy entered it. Not even your father."

Before, Jamie had only been mildly curious about this, but now, his gaze sharpened as his full attention was riveted to the matter.

"What are you getting at?"

"The fact that you were able to perceive the energy I used, Is a miracle in itself."

Angela replied as she placed the test tube back into its holder.

"It feels like magic."

"??"

Jamie gave her a questioning glance, wondering exactly what she was talking about but the woman ignored it and continued speaking.

"It feels like aura. It feels like ether, it feels like demonic energy, it feels like holy power, it feels like life energy, it feels like aether, it feels like death energy...it feels like everything.

And when it feels like everything, it feels like nothing at the same time."

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"I’m telling you how it feels to manipulate the energy you perceived. It is everything and it is nothing."

"That makes zero sense whatsoever."

Jamie was completely confused. Angela’s words sounded like a bad attempt at a riddle to him, and even after thinking it over, he found no sense in her words.

Angela, however, had other thoughts.

"It makes perfect sense, you see...

It has to be everything because it manipulates all that exists, but it also needs to be nothing so it can manipulate that which does not exist."

"Woman, what higher-dimensional bullshit are you spouting right now?"

Hearing the teenager’s question, Angela burst into laughter and shook her head as she responded.

"Don’t worry, what I’m saying applies to the Third Dimension, as well."

"Yeah, nope.

Last I checked, between the two of us, I’m the Third Dimensional one. You are...something else, so something that you can perceive and manipulate, but I cannot, just screams: ’I have an extra dimension attached to me’...maybe a Dimension W or something?"

When she heard him talk about a W Dimension, Angela’s eyes lit up and she diverted the topic of conversation to it.

"You’ve watched that show as well?"

"We’re not talking about animes now, Angela. I’m talking about whatever bullshit you just explained."

Jamie blocked Angela’s attempt at derailing the conversation and forced the topic back into focus.

"Oh...that. It’s not bullshit.

It’s like manipulating every conceivable energy type at once. Both positive and negative.

However, since I lean towards the Negative side of the Polarity Spectrum, it’s more negatively attributed in my hands.

It’s like a 70:30?"

The woman paused for a moment and placed her hand on her chin, snapping her fingers and doing something with that energy before correcting the ratio she stated earlier.

"Nahh, it’s more of an 80:20. It used to be 70:30, but then I became an ’Envoy of Chaos’ and it dipped more into Negative territory."

Just like the Jamie of Year 2018 was an ’Envoy of Balance’, Angela was an ’Envoy of Chaos’. This was where her famous title came from.

The difference between them was that while Jamie didn’t really mind the title, Angela detested hers. She never wanted to hold said that title and had ’destroyed’ it numerous times, but it always came back to her.

Being an ’Envoy of Chaos’ was the source of all misfortunes in her life.

If she wasn’t one, then she’d have been in the Mercury Galaxy having dinner with her husband and children, not trying to explain energy types to the boy she wanted to turn into a Hybrid.

She quickly got back on track to avoid reminding herself of that cursed day, continuing her explanation that confused Jamie.

"This energy is kind of like the origin of every other kind of energy you know. As well as every form of matter, anti-matter, dark matter, and the Higher-Dimensional Stuff too.

But being able to manipulate it doesn’t mean you can use it to create stuff as you wish, though."

Jamie decided to ignore the latter half of her words and focused on the first line she spoke.

"So this energy is the origin of other energies in the Universe? What’s it called?"

When he posed this question, Angela, who was searching her drawer for hair gel responded casually.

"Relating to ’All of Existence’ itself...it’s the energy that the Universe was created from and is powered by."

Raising her head, she looked Jamie in the eye and told him its name.

"Cosmic Energy."

◇ ◇ ◇

’That thing was probably Comic Energy.’

Jamie thought to himself as he just barely placated the angry and worried Miranda, while also guessing the final reason he hadn’t exuviated.

’More than law energies, it’s probably this.’

He was 99% certain that this was the case. Before he Exuviated and surpassed Transcendence to become a Higher Existence, he needed to first attain Cosmic Superiority.
