Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 184: Confrontation
Looking at this god dressed in Priest robes, the Mercenary Leader who had stabbed Jamie questioned him.
"Why stop?! Let’s just kill th-"
|SHUT UP AND DO AS I SAY!
YOU HAVE NO IDEA THE DISASTER YOU’D BRING TO THIS PLANET IF YOU DARED TO KILL THEM! |
The priest shouted in his True Voice, his annoyance palpable as he stared at the wounded Miranda and continued.
|SHE’S THE CHILD OF A WEREWOLF EMPEROR. |
"?!"
His reveal sent ripples of shock through the Mercenaries and Traitor guards.
They didn’t have much information, but they knew that beings like Esanke and their god were termed ’Kings’ and they would be the Top Dogs in the Universe if beings called ’Emperors’ didn’t exist.
They didn’t know much about these ’Emperors’, but it was said that even if a hundred ’Kings’ attacked one ’Emperor’, the ’Kings’ would still lose!
And they were now just told that Miranda was the daughter of one of these powerhouses.
|You think absurdities like them that breeze through all the Ranks in the Single year could come out of nowhere?
They’re children of Emperors who came to this planet from another! You want to draw the wrath of two Emperors to this world?! |
Gnocyl Prime was massive.
It was a planet bigger than some dwarf stars. However, Emperors could squash stars with their fingers.
Gnocyl wouldn’t survive the wrath of a single Emperor, much less two.
|Tsk...! Check the Vampire and make sure he doesn’t die. Even if it means giving him your blood.
Don’t take out that silver sword, it’d prevent him from healing fully. |
The Priest barked out orders as he stepped forward and ripped out the door of one of the cars and pulled Tiris with his energy.
He then placed a hand on his ear and contacted his ally.
| Laird, I’ve gotten the Saintess girl. |
It didn’t take too long for space beside him to distort, before blooming into a Spatial Gate where the figure of a lean man with unkempt brown hair stepped out from.
This man whom the Priest referred to as Laird, was a Drifter. A humanoid race of beings who lived and breathed spatial manipulation.
It was rumoured that just as human babies learned to walk when they grew up, drifters learned to distort space.
"I’m taking us straight to HQ."
Laird spoke as he held up his hand and condensed spatial law energy into a single point, taking a few seconds to create a larger and more powerful gate that could withstand two Deities moving through it.
Space distorted and broke open, revealing the swirling portal that rapidly expanded to his height.
However, just before it fully opened, they all heard a voice ring out in their ears.
[Finally. I was tired of waiting for you.]
"?!"
The spatial power Laird was controlling suddenly destabilized, and before he could shout out a warning, his control over it was usurped and the energy lashed out, blasting both him and the Priest away.
Laird took the full brunt of his own Deity Realm spatial energy to the face, and the power of the spatial collapse sent everyone except Miranda tumbling through the air.
Cars flipped over and exploded mid-air, while some of the mercenaries were torn apart by the violent surge of energy. If it wasn’t for the fact that all the energy was focused on Laird, then the devastation would have been more than 20 times worse.
|What th-?!|
The Priest used his earth law energy to anchor his feet to the ground and looked up, his eyes widening in shock as he saw the figure of Jamie who had four silver swords sticking out of his back slowly rising to his feet.
[I was honestly getting tired of playing dead.]
Jamie spoke as he grabbed onto the blade of the silver sword sticking out of his chest and dragged it out with force, pulling its hilt through his body and sending more bone and flesh flying in the air.
|Is this guy fucking crazy?!|
The Priest cursed under his breath, but a realization struck him a moment later—Jamie was holding a silver sword with his bare hands.
’Vampires, shouldn’t be able to do that!’
This sword was forged from pure silver and had been bathed in both Solar Light and Holy Water for months. Even a Low-Tier Deity Vampire would recoil at the mere touch of it.
And yet, Jamie held this with his bare hands and his arms hadn’t spontaneously combusted in seconds.
Ignoring the Priest’s shock, Jamie pulled out the other three blades in the same gruesome manner, and just when they thought things couldn’t get any more absurd, Jamie’s regeneration kicked in.
The blood splattered on the floor, along with fragments of his flesh, broken bones, and organs, floated up and re-joined his body. They melded back together seamlessly, healing without leaving a scratch.
’Vampires shouldn’t regenerate like THAT!’
Jamie could almost see the Priest’s thoughts on his face, and it made him chuckle lightly as he cracked his neck and spoke.
[Times like this make me happy that not much about us Hybrids has gotten out yet.
If you knew what we were, you’d know that Silver...]
Condensing a little void energy onto his palm, he continued.
[...doesn’t work on me.]
Void Beam!
The concentrated beam of dark blue energy was launched at relativistic speed, disrupting the fabric of space and annihilating both the Priest’s earthen shields and Laird’s spatial barriers.
It impacted them and released concentrated void energy in a powerful explosion, spilling both golden and crimson blood into the air.
[The Child of Space commands you: Displace my adversary.]
Still reeling from the wounds caused by Jamie’s void beam, the two Half Deities were unable to block the spatial energy that wrapped around them and teleported them away from this location, sending them to random points halfway across the continent.
By this time, the Mercenaries were struggling to their feet, but Jamie ignored them and turned to Tiris who had fallen onto the floor.
[Stay put for now.]
He wrapped her body with his spatial power and lifted her into the air, creating a multilayer spherical barrier around her.
The first barrier was a spatial energy barrier, while the second was created with void power. Anything that came in contact with this barrier would be erased from existence if they weren’t overwhelmingly stronger than Jamie was and had enough energy to resist the powerful void power.
Fancy words aside, only someone of at least Deity Level 100 could touch it and not have their fingers turned non-existent.
After doing this, Jamie pressed his palm downwards in the air, unleashing a powerful spatial pressure that distorted the space around him.
The force rippled outward, pressing down with tremendous weight and the Mercs and guards who were barely getting back on their feet after the earlier spatial explosion were forcefully slammed back to the ground.
Their attempts to rise were futile as an invisible weight pinned them down, the pressure making their movements sluggish and laboured. The ground trembled under the force, and their armour groaned in protest.
Even those who tried to resist with their magic power found it impossible to escape Jamie’s spatial pressure that effectively immobilized their bodies.
With everyone who could interrupt him incapacitated, Jamie turned towards Miranda who was down on her knees and walked up to her with a faint smile.
"How’s that sword holding up?
I knew they had wolfsbane but I didn’t think it was this potent."
"...you...knew?"
Miranda’s eyes widened in shock when she heard his words.
It was one thing if he knew of the attack beforehand, and it was a totally different thing if he knew about them having wolfsbane.
Since arriving on Gnocyl, Jamie had not once revealed his werewolf features, but he used Blood Manipulation a lot so everyone thought he was a Vampire.
As such, the only possible target that’d need them to procure wolfsbane was Miranda.
Jamie knew they were planning to use it on her, and he didn’t tell her.
To Miranda, this was unbelievable.
Her brain couldn’t compute why Jamie of all people would NOT warn her about a potential danger, despite knowing fully well that she was currently vulnerable to it.
"Yeah, Mira. I knew."
"..."
Silence.
Miranda had no words, and the sight of the dumbfounded young woman made Jamie shake his head with a sigh.
The smile on his face slowly disappeared and he gazed at her with an uncharacteristic seriousness as he spoke.
"Do you really hate it that much? That you still wouldn’t use it despite knowing it’s the only thing that can help you right now?"
Jamie casually excluded himself from the scenario, indirectly telling Miranda that he wouldn’t help her even though he could.
As for the ’it’ he was referring to, it was none other than her Hybrid powers.
