Chapter 174: Tiris used Purification! It was Super-Effective!

"You’ve never tried an AOE purification with just magic?"

Jamie questioned her when she stated that she needed divinity—which he indeed didn’t have as he did not possess any divine factors—and the young woman shook her head.

"I’ve tried it before, but my range with it is not too good. Even when I use the magic to amplify my divinity, it’s not much better.

That’s why I prefer using divinity, however, to purify a swamp that birthed a Level 900 monster, I need that much divinity."

Hearing her reply, Jamie frowned lightly and tapped his foot on the floor, sending out a pulse of spatial power that expanded the space in front of them again before running his magic power through her body.

"Ah~?!"

Tiris’ body trembled when Jamie’s magic flowed in without warning and she let out an embarrassing sound, her cheeks turning crimson instantly. She desired to curl up and cover her face, but Jamie’s grip on her hands wasn’t one she could get rid of.

Hence, she had no choice but to let the Hybrid continue scanning her body with his magic power, resisting the feeling it gave her...as well as Miranda’s death stare.

"Jamie, you’re too close."

Miranda finally acted, reaching out and pulling Jamie’s hand off Tiris, allowing the girl to cover her red cheeks like she originally intended.

"Hmm?"

Jamie saw that Miranda was in a bad mood, but even his Miranda Sense could not tell exactly what was displeasing her.

"Hold on, Mira."

He shook off Miranda’s grip and grabbed Tiris again as he spoke.

"Your energy circuits are too attuned to divinity so magic power cannot flow properly. That’s why your Magic purification isn’t good.

If I force enough magic power through them, your body would be forced to adapt rapidly to accept it so it doesn’t burst...that’d be a hotfix for your problem."

After saying this, Jamie turned Tiris’ body over and put his arms around her waist much to her shock.

"Sir Jamie!?"

"Lady Tiris!"

The young woman flinched and tried to escape his grip, while her maid tried to get Jamie to unhand her, but the Hybrid just applied spatial mimicry on her and leapt into the air. The two effortlessly phased through the car roof and Jamie disabled the technique, allowing them to regain physical form and land on the roof.

Having been abruptly pulled up from a sitting position, Tiris nearly lost her balance and fell the moment her feet touched the roof. However, since Jamie was holding onto her, he helped her steady herself.

"Sir Jamie, why are we outside!?"

Tiris asked in a panicky voice, and the reply Jamie gave as he released the spatial expansion was one she didn’t want to hear.

"We’re gonna purify this thing before we leave."

"But I just told you why I couldn’t?!"

"And I just told you why you could."

Jamie responded with a smile as he grabbed her hands and held them forward, before beginning to infuse his magic into her.

"?! Wait...my capacity is full! You’d overload me!!"

Tiris struggled but escaping Jamie’s grip was a pipe dream and the man simply gave her an evil grin as he spoke.

"Did you know? A Purification Spell on this Swamp would consume that energy faster than it can overload you."

Jamie’s words made Tiris’ brow twitch, but feeling her energy core begin to creak under the pressure of Jamie’s magic, she gave up.

"Ah, Fuck it!"

She cursed in a manner that any clergyman would frown and scold her upon hearing, but luckily, none were nearby.

Quickly channelling her divinity and amplifying it with magic power, she conjured the Five-Ringed spell circle and recited the chant.

"By the light of the sacred flame, cleanse this land of its blight,

Purge the darkness, restore the purity, and bring forth the dawn’s light.

Let all corruption be burned away, let all that is tainted be purified,

In the name of the Eternal Sky, let this place be sanctified."

Invoking Esanke’s title of ’Eternal Sky’, she activated the spell, using Jamie’s energy to bolster the power of her divinity which surged outward from her in a brilliant wave of light, covering everything within a five-kilometre radius.

The powerful magic and divinity blanketed the land, its luminous energy piercing through the thick miasma swamp and forcing tendrils of dark fog to recoil as the sacred light tore through them, dissolving the corruption at its core.

As the convoy sped past, the spell’s radiant power attacked the heart of the miasma swamp, a seething nexus of dark energy hidden deep within the morass.

The spell’s force struck the core, shattering it with a blinding flash. There was some sort of ’scream’ ringing out as the darkness writhed, but it quickly dissipated into nothingness.

In mere seconds, the trees that had withered to skeletal husks were restored to lush green vitality, their leaves unfurling as if awakening from a long sleep. Grass and flowers sprang up, covering the once-tainted ground with vibrant life.

"...I did it?"

Tiris looked on in confusion at her handiwork, not even noticing that Jamie had stopped transferring magic power to her.

Just for good measure, she chanted the spell again and released another surge of divinity, noting that the magic which amplified the divinity flowed through her energy circuits at a smoother and faster rate than before.

"...I actually pulled off an AOE purification with magic..."

Suddenly, she was hit with an intense wave of lethargy and she nearly dropped to her knees, but Jamie caught her before she could fall.

"Thank you, Sir Ja...Sir Jamie?!"

Tiris’ brain recalled one very important fact and she turned around worriedly.

She had seen Jamie drink the blood of an opponent who tried to assassinate her a few days ago, and from the rumours she had heard of him and Miranda, they were both a Vampire and Werewolf respectively.

As far as she knew, those with the Vampire factor were weak to divinity, and she had just released a surge of divinity directly on Jamie...twice!

However, when she turned towards the man, she saw he was completely fine and not writhing in pain like the last Vampire she accidentally used her purification magic nearby.

"...what?"

"You’re...fine?"

"Of, course, I am."

Jamie replied matter-of-factly but Tiris still had a hard time wrapping her head around how he was fine.

"...but...divinity?"

Hearing her words, Jamie finally understood and burst out laughing as he spoke.

"Dear dear...did you forget what I told you on Day 1? I’m immune to the Standard Vampire weaknesses."

Tiris recalled that Jamie had said something along those lines but she hadn’t put too much thought into it. To her, Vampires, Dhampirs, Ghouls and the other subspecies of the race were weak to the Divine.

Jamie being perfectly fine was a contradiction to her worldview.

The man could see her confusion swirling around in her eyes and he chuckled lightly, adjusting her glasses that had almost fallen off her face.

Although news of their existence had begun to spread, they hadn’t truly stepped into the Interstellar Stage so it was only natural that many worlds still didn’t know of them at this time.

Or to be precise, they knew of Jamie and Miranda but didn’t know that they had become Hybrid creatures without the weaknesses of their constituent races.

Jamie put the whole Hybrid business aside and then reactivated spatial mimicry, causing the two of them to slip through the car’s roof and down back onto the seat.

Tiris fell with a loud scream, feeling like her heart literally jumped out of her chest, only to find herself falling onto her seat beside Kendra.

While the maid rushed to check on her, Miranda moved and pulled off Jamie’s hands from hers, before dragging Jamie back to the couch and casually plopping herself down on his lap.

She then moved his hands around her waist like a seat belt, all in one fluid motion that Tiris barely perceived. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"..."

Tiris stared at Miranda with wide eyes while Jamie just laughed at this and moved his hand to comb his fingers through the sulky woman’s hair with a tender smile on his face.

As Miranda’s pout quickly transformed into a smile, Tiris cleaned off the little dust that got on her glasses and posed a question to the two Hybrids.

"Um...Sir Jamie, Lady Miranda, mind if I ask a slightly personal question?"

""??""

Both of them turned to her with brows raised in the same fashion, and Tiris decided to ask something that had been on her mind for the past few days.

"Exactly how long have you two been together?"
