Becoming the Wasteland Overlord With My Harem System!-Chapter 277: Shotgun Wedding! (1)
Axel woke up from a short nap. It wasn’t even long enough to be considered real sleep.
The reason he roused wasn’t because he felt well-rested. Instead, it was Navi’s usual daily reports, which he let filter in one ear and out the other.
He was so exhausted!
It was no surprise he felt this way after "fighting" a 5-vs-1 against the girls for almost the entire night until dawn. In fact, he was so drained that he had fainted before he even fell asleep!
"Ugh... I should set some limits on this soon, or I’ll end up like a mummy..." he grumbled as he shook off his dizziness.
Today was a special day.
After all, today was the day he would properly ascend to kingship while simultaneously marrying five wives. Beatrix, with the assistance of the people from Axevaria Kingdom, was handling the venue preparations and everything else.
Axel only needed to show up at the venue on time, wearing the "attire" that had been prepared for him in advance.
The event was scheduled for 10 a.m., and it was currently around six in the morning. He still had four hours before the ceremony. While that might seem like enough time to him, for the girls, it was already cutting it close.
Four hours to finish preparations, makeup, dressing, accessorizing, and so on... It actually felt a little too short, considering all they had to accomplish.
Thus, the five had left Axel’s side as soon as he lost consciousness—to prepare.
Even Navi and Mimir had departed, trying to assist with the preparations in their own way.
"..."
Realizing he still had ample time, Axel lay back down on the bed and decided to snooze.
...
Before the World Tree sapling, a stage was set up in the main plaza. It wasn’t so tall that it would pose a danger if someone fell off, but it wasn’t too short for those far away to see it clearly.
The design was delicate, maximizing both safety and visibility.
To enhance the experience, a projector and camera were also set up. The projector faced a plain white cloth hanging between the stage and the World Tree, supported by custom stakes that elevated it to 30 meters.
This setup ensured that everyone could see what was happening much more clearly.
Of course, the camera and projectors were purchased through the system shop—both costing trillions. They weren’t anything extraordinary, just standard electronics, but their price reflected the advanced technology used in their manufacture.
In front of the stage, a cordon marked the boundary for the viewers, indicating how close residents could approach before being pushed back by the Valkyrie Knights stationed nearby.
All 30,000+ residents were eager not to miss this event. They filled the plaza to the brim, making it look more like a rally than anything else.
Atop the stage, Axel stood alone. He wore a suit and tie, looking extremely uncomfortable. It was clear he was in a coat he disliked, the opposite of what he usually wore. He had on pure white pants and a coat with a faded gray interior, accessorized with a checkered yellow-and-white necktie.
The attire wasn’t to his liking, but he had no choice; the girls had insisted.
He had been on stage since the clock struck nine, and now, nearing ten-thirty, he had been standing there for over an hour, starting to feel bored.
Just then, the music began to play.
It was a very familiar orchestral piece—the Wedding March!
’They really didn’t pull back on spending for this event...’ Axel sighed. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Even in his previous world, weddings were costly. This was partly why he had opted for a civil wedding rather than a grand ceremony like this one.
He never imagined that the same would hold true in this world.
The total cost of the wedding preparations soared to 1 Quadrillion Colts, which included all the gimmicks, tools, and other expenses!
Suddenly, a figure appeared behind Axel.
A woman dressed in what resembled a priest’s garb, giving her the appearance of a holy mother—Beatrix!
Since there was no actual "bishop" or church official present, Beatrix had taken it upon herself to officiate the wedding and coronation.
"Sorry for the wait," she whispered to Axel, smiling. "Dolling up the brides took longer than expected... But I’m confident it will be worth it."
"No worries, I anticipated delays. It’s nothing unusual," Axel replied with a smile.
As a former businessman, he understood that "schedules" were rarely followed as planned. Issues often arose, whether it was speeches running long, meetings dragging on, or other unforeseen delays.
Girls taking time to get ready was a common occurrence, so it didn’t surprise Axel at all.
With a smile, he looked ahead and saw a small crack in space—a rift—open up. It was Fenrir’s ability, allowing the girls to travel from the dressing room in the castle to their current location in an instant!
"Huh..."
He could hardly believe it.
Watching the girls march down the red carpet, as Beatrix had claimed, he truly felt breathless.
All of them wore pure white wedding dresses, each with their own unique touch.
Eve, at the lead, donned a standard balloon dress. The skirt puffed up like a hemisphere around her, completely concealing her feet. On her head, she wore a golden crown—the same one Axel had placed on her the night before—topped with a veil.
Fenrir followed closely behind, slightly to the right, in a long backless dress. It featured a high slit to her thigh and ample cleavage. The ends of her dress trailed behind her, yet, mysteriously, they remained spotless, as if dirt feared to cling to it.
Resting atop her head was the silver crown Axel had given her, partially obscured by a veil.
On the opposite side, Ria marched carefully. Her dress was similar to Eve’s in that it was puffy, but it appeared more dynamic and lively.
The dress revealed her bellybutton, and the skirt had a wide opening in front, showcasing her healthy thighs. By design, it resembled a magical girl’s costume more than a wedding dress, if not for its white color!
She also wore her bronze crown beneath her veil.
Further back, standing side by side, were Arianne and Nina.
Arianne wore a standard cocktail dress style, accentuating her curves more than Fenrir’s did. However, because Arianne’s dress had more fabric, it appeared less revealing overall.
Nina wore something resembling her witch outfit but in pure white. Her short, puffy skirt revealed her legs, while the long dress had a window to her chest and featured long gloves.
The two of them opted for silver tiaras instead of crowns. While not as ornate as the crowns of the first three, they still appeared quite expensive.
Axel took in their attire and the makeup that enhanced their beauty by about 120%.
"You girls," he smiled, almost instinctively, "are all so beautiful..."
