Becoming The Strongest Using My Would-You-Rather System!-Chapter 21 - Heavenly Thunder Storm Spell
’’So there were creatures there,’’ Iris said, stunned.
’’Yup,’’ Theo nodded.
Just then, a glint of sunlight reflected off something near the crab’s body, catching his eye.
Theo narrowed his eyes and slowly walked towards the corpse of the last crab he had killed.
The crab lay on its side, a gaping hole going through its entire body, the shell surrounding the hole cracked and scorched.
For a moment, everything looked normal.
Then he saw it.
Something metallic was lodged inside its body, faintly reflecting sunlight.
Theo crouched down cautiously.
’’What’s that?’’ Iris asked from behind him.
Theo, still focused, tried digging the metallic object out. But it was to little avail; the fragment was lodged far too firmly inside the crab’s shell.
’’Lend me your spear, please,’’ he asked, raising one of his hands behind his back.
Iris didn’t hesitate, placing her spear into his hand.
After cutting around the object, Theo pulled out a metallic piece at least five times the size of his hand.
’’What the hell is this?’’ he muttered.
He turned over the metal object and brushed off the sand and flesh.
The object was fragmented, thick, and curved. A clear number coupled with a street name was engraved on the back, making Theo frown.
’’That looks like part of a pipe or something,’’ Iris called out behind him, leaning down to look over his shoulder.
’’I thought the same,’’ Theo replied, pushing himself off the ground. ’’But how in the world would a creature get something like that in its stomach?’’
There weren’t places where thick pipes like these were, and to his knowledge, none were in locations where creatures from the sea could access them.
’’Can I take a closer look at it?’’ Iris asked, raising an eyebrow.
’’Sure,’’ Theo responded, handing it over to her.
After a moment, she slowly nodded.
’’I’ll take this back to my father,’’ she said slowly. ’’Because it kind of looks like a sewage pipe.’’
’A sewage pipe?’ he thought.
Those only sat directly under the city.
If creatures could get to them, it clearly meant they were moving under the city, which was really bad since they could enter the streets that way.
’’Don’t worry,’’ Iris said, smiling faintly. ’’There’s always the possibility that it’s from an old abandoned pipe.’’
Theo nodded, a small smile growing on his face. ’’That’s also true.’’
Iris straightened her back, locking eyes with Theo once.
’’I’ll go then,’’ she said, her voice soft. ’’See you tomorrow.’’
Theo got caught off guard for a moment, but quickly smiled. ’’See you tomorrow.’’
He turned back to his seat, completely missing the faint blush on Iris’s face.
Iris quickly took off as well, heading towards the military base.
As Theo sat down in his chair, his eyes darted to the system cooldown for a moment.
Then he closed his eyes and started cultivating his core.
Hours flew by rapidly as his shift ended without another incident.
He caught the bus home and spent the entire ride watching the system’s cooldown slowly tick down.
[Cooldown: 00:48:12.]
Back at the apartment, he ate a quick meal and had some small conversations with Owen and his parents.
As he noticed the cooldown reach the final twenty minutes, Theo put on his jacket and walked into the cold night air.
’I can’t risk the system giving something destructive again,’ he thought, pulling up his hood.
Fifteen minutes later, he reached a small clearing in the same woods he had been training in.
Theo sat down on the ground, his heart pounding in his chest.
’I wonder what it’ll be this time,’ he thought, grinning.
[Cooldown: 00:02:10.]
Theo exhaled deeply.
[Cooldown: 00:00:40.]
’’Let’s go,’’ he muttered.
The timer hit zero, and the blue cooldown window instantly vanished.
After a second, another window popped up in front of him.
[Would you rather—]
[Option A: Receive the Lightning Reinforcement spell manual. (Potential: Gray -> Platinum)]
[Option B: Receive the Heavenly Thunder Storm spell manual. (Potential: Bronze -> Diamond)]
[Time Remaining: 00:59:59]
[WARNING: Failure to select an option will result in the system’s immediate disappearance.]
Theo stared at the options for a moment, his eyes wide.
’’Spell manuals?’’ he muttered in disbelief.
And they weren’t just some random spell manuals either. One had different stages that could grow until he was a Platinum Core, while the other could grow all the way up to a Diamond Core.
’These things could be worth a hundred million dollars,’ he thought, nearly shaking from excitement. ’I’d never be able to get my hands on something like this myself.’
If it weren’t for the system, that is.
’’Which would I choose, though?’’ he mumbled, staring at both options.
Lightning Reinforcement and Heavenly Thunder Storm.
The system didn’t really provide an explanation besides that and their potential.
’So I’ll have to make a choice based on just that,’ he thought, narrowing his eyes.
Both spells seemed pretty straightforward.
Lightning Reinforcement could range anywhere from reinforcing the body to a weapon. Most of all, he could start learning it immediately... but it could only go up to Platinum.
Heavenly Thunder Storm was a bit more difficult to understand.
’Seems like it’s a storm of some sort?’ he thought, tilting his head. ’But its potential does go up to Diamond...’
Even if he could only learn it once he reached Bronze Core, that was more than fine by him since it was just two weeks away.
Theo’s gaze moved back and forth between the two options.
’’I’d have to wait two weeks to get a spell with far more potential,’’ he muttered. ’’Isn’t that a rather easy choice?’’
He wasn’t aiming to get a little strong. No, in the future he wanted to become the strongest in the world.
Without hesitation, Theo lifted his hand and selected Option B.
[Choice made.]
