Becoming The Bigshot's Only Love After Breaking Her Engagement-Chapter 615: The CEO’s Pursuit Turns into a Crematory of Heartbreak
Shangxue stood outside the door, heartache unbearable as she listened to their conversation.
She didn’t know how she managed to walk back, and upon returning to her place, a servant saw her and curiously asked, "Miss Shangxue, what’s wrong with you? Why do you look so pale, are you sick?"
Only then did Shangxue come to her senses, shaking her head, "I’m fine."
"Miss Shangxue, your luggage is all packed." The servant reminded her.
Shangxue didn’t pack her own luggage; she let the servants do it for her.
It wasn’t out of laziness, but to avoid misunderstandings that she might have taken anything from the Xie family.
The Xie family had many valuable collectibles on display, so any guest leaving had to have their luggage checked.
Although somewhat insulting, it was the Xie family’s rule, known by everyone who stayed there.
Either don’t stay, or abide by the rules if you do.
Shangxue naturally knew this rule; she had set it in place herself.
Xie Mingyu was never concerned with small matters. Initially, guests would take his things without him realizing, but afterward, he found it troublesome to track down the items.
Once, he even got so frustrated it nearly made him ill.
Because of this, Shangxue came up with this idea.
It may offend people, but it wouldn’t leave Xie Mingyu upset afterward.
Even though the servant repeatedly said she didn’t need to, she still followed the rules and simply left the packing to them.
This way, there’d be no need for further inspection.
And besides, she didn’t have much luggage, so a servant packing was sufficient.
As planned, once the luggage was packed, she was leaving.
The servant handed her the suitcase, but she hesitated, not taking it.
The servant looked surprised and softly reminded, "Miss Shangxue, is there something you’ve forgotten?"
"I haven’t said goodbye to him yet." Shangxue snapped back to reality, her eyes flustered as she spoke.
The servant smiled and said, "Then you should go! No matter what, you should say something to him."
Shangxue nodded and once again approached Xie Mingyu’s room.
But this time, just as she reached the door, Ye Ningwan pushed it open and came out.
Seeing her, she looked surprised, "Shangxue?"
"Miss Ye, where is he?" Shangxue asked.
She didn’t address him as Mr. Xie, the terms of address had changed.
Ye Ningwan, being sharp, would naturally perceive that.
Smiling, she said, "He’s resting inside, but maybe he’s been too exhausted these past few days, his health isn’t great. I’ve prescribed some medicine for him; I’ll have a servant brew it for him to drink later. If it’s nothing urgent, it’s better not to disturb him."
"Indeed, it’s nothing urgent." Shangxue lowered her eyes.
Ye Ningwan suddenly realized, "You’re planning to leave, aren’t you? So you came to say goodbye? Let me tell him, you can just go."
"Miss Ye, I don’t plan on leaving." Shangxue lifted her head again, looking at Ye Ningwan with determination.
Ye Ningwan was surprised.
Shangxue smiled slightly, "I know he’s fallen ill from exhaustion. I will take care of him these days. After all, he got sick looking after Yanyan, how can I ignore that?"
"Shangxue, you need to think this through; you know what this means?" Ye Ningwan paused, speaking slowly.
Shangxue nodded, "I know."
"Shangxue," Ye Ningwan continued, "Actually, Xie Mingyu... he’s a great person. He also hopes you can leave and find your own happiness. But you know him; if you stay this time, he might never let go of you again."
"I know." Shangxue nodded slowly once more.
Ye Ningwan sighed lightly, "Since you know everything, you should make your own decision."
She left quickly after speaking.
Shangxue stood at the door, raising her hand to knock. But, she never did.
Inside, Xie Mingyu naturally heard their conversation, waiting for her to knock and enter, but after a long wait, he only heard her footsteps walking away.
Ye Ningwan entered again, seeing Xie Mingyu lying alone on the bed.
His jade-like face was expressionless, and his pitch-black eyes, like dark pearls, held many secrets, tempting one to explore them.
Xie Mingyu had a face that could bewilder anyone.
Ye Ningwan thought if she hadn’t met someone like Zhan Hanjue first, she might have been bewitched by him.
He didn’t need to speak; his looks alone could confuse someone’s mind.
"She didn’t come in?"
From his expression, she clearly hadn’t; otherwise, his face wouldn’t show such a melancholy.
"Has she left?" Xie Mingyu spoke slowly.
Ye Ningwan said, "How would I know? I’m too embarrassed to speak with her after spinning that great lie for you and hid by myself for a while just now."
"It was your idea," Xie Mingyu said softly.
Ye Ningwan softly cleared her throat, "It truly was my idea. I just wanted both of you to come to terms with your real feelings. To be precise, I wanted her to recognize her true feelings. It seems she has, so you should too."
It was because she understood Shangxue; she knew Shangxue wasn’t the kind of person who would stay out of guilt over Xie Mingyu’s illness.
Thus she suggested this plan.
The purpose of the plan was to make Shangxue realize her own feelings.
"Ye Ningwan, do you think... because I should’ve died long ago but was saved by you, I’ve been clinging to life all these years? So, is it fated that I shouldn’t be happy?" Xie Mingyu asked, bitterly.
Ye Ningwan quickly said, "I’m a doctor, dedicated to saving lives, and saving you wasn’t a matchmaking task. What does your life have to do with your happiness? Besides, aren’t you happy already? Everything is handed to you on a silver platter, you were born into something others can never achieve in a lifetime—what more do you want?"
"But the people I like don’t like me back. You too, Shangxue too," Xie Mingyu said softly.
Ye Ningwan said, "I don’t like you because I have someone I like. Everyone’s been unreciprocated at some point, haven’t they? As for Shangxue, she originally liked you a lot; it’s your fault for not cherishing it, don’t blame others. Stop agonizing over your fate arbitrarily; you’re far happier than most. Walk through a construction site, and you’ll see it’s such fortune that lets you dwell on these matters."
"You, not romantic at all. I don’t even know why Zhan Hanjue likes you," Xie Mingyu grouched, pulling the covers over his head.
But Ye Ningwan swiftly tossed them off him, "Sleeping with covers over your face can cause breathlessness and sudden death. Whether Zhan Hanjue likes me or not is none of your concern. But remember, in life, you must be able to let go. You’ve tried every trick in the book, yet Shangxue remains unmoved and leaves, so you must let go, or else, it’ll only be exhausting for you and everyone involved."
