Becoming The Bigshot's Only Love After Breaking Her Engagement-Chapter 432: She Wants Me to Be a Matchmaker
"I heard you were looking for me?"
Mrs. Leng came in, and Ye Ningwan invited her to sit down, smiling as she asked.
"Yes, quite a surprise, isn’t it?" Mrs. Leng replied.
Ye Ningwan nodded, "Indeed it is, since from the beginning, you’ve never liked me."
"Do you know why I don’t like you?" Mrs. Leng asked.
Ye Ningwan shook her head, "Not really sure, it seems I haven’t actually done anything to hurt you."
"Ye Ningwan, in this world, interactions between people don’t always need to involve harm to generate dislike," Mrs. Leng said.
Ye Ningwan nodded, "I understand that principle. Fate among people is quite intriguing. There are people you like at first sight, and there are those you dislike immediately; it’s perfectly normal."
"I can’t understand why Ziqing insists on liking Wu Taotao. No matter how you look at it, she doesn’t seem that remarkable to me. She doesn’t have a good family background, outstanding skills, and is as ordinary as can be. But Ziqing still likes her, and I really can’t figure it out." Mrs. Leng lamented.
Ye Ningwan laughed, "I think this question should be directed at Leng Ziqing. After all, only he can answer you."
"That’s why I’ve come to you because it isn’t easy to say," Mrs. Leng sighed.
Ye Ningwan frowned and asked, "But, I don’t understand your purpose. Complaining? Confiding? No matter how I look at it, I’m not the best person for it."
"I’ve come to ask you for a favor," Mrs. Leng said.
Even though she was asking for help, her attitude remained completely unapologetic.
It felt more like a command than a request.
Ye Ningwan didn’t argue with her, after all, she had no intention of helping her.
"What kind of favor?"
Just curious what favor she would ask of her.
"I want you to help make a match. Ziqing and Wu Taotao have been entangled for so long; it’s time to settle it. I’ve compromised and agreed to them, so I want you to bridge the gap, let both families meet, and finalize this matter." Mrs. Leng revealed her intentions.
Ye Ningwan raised an eyebrow in surprise, "As far as I know, Leng Ziqing is still married. It’s inappropriate, isn’t it? Aren’t you worried Mrs. Zhang will come after you?"
"They’ve already divorced," Mrs. Leng said.
"When did this happen?" Ye Ningwan was taken aback.
After all, Wu Taotao had just returned, and within a day, Leng Ziqing and Zhang Meimei divorced?
"Today’s affair. If it weren’t certain they divorced, why would I come to you?"
"I see, but with this matter, I cannot help," Ye Ningwan said.
"Why? I heard you two are friends. Aren’t you going to do something for your friend who can finally succeed?" Mrs. Leng mocked.
Ye Ningwan chuckled, "I think you misunderstood. Since the moment your son married four years ago, Wu Taotao had already let go of Leng Ziqing. Over these four years, she has a new boyfriend and they’re quite happy. Oh, I forgot to mention, her current boyfriend is my brother. Do you think I’d help you by undermining my brother’s relationship?"
"What? If she already has a boyfriend, then why still entangle with Ziqing for so many years?" Mrs. Leng questioned angrily.
Ye Ningwan said, "You should ask your son that question. Is it Wu Taotao not letting go, or Leng Ziqing unwilling to release her? Mrs. Leng, I know you’ve sacrificed a lot for Leng Ziqing, but children are born from us and yet from the moment of their birth, they no longer truly belong to us. During their growth, they drift further away, slipping beyond control. As parents, all you can do is let them go at the right time. If you don’t even understand this, eventually, you and Leng Ziqing will reach an even colder point."
"I didn’t come here to hear you lecture me with these principles. So, you can’t help with this favor?" Mrs. Leng was indignant, unwilling to listen to her preaching.
Ye Ningwan shook her head, "I can’t help, and it’s not something I can assist with."
"Hmph, if you can’t help, just say it straight, instead of all this nonsense," Mrs. Leng fumed.
She was simply venting her anger because Ye Ningwan struck a nerve, so she unleashed her frustration on Ye Ningwan.
Ye Ningwan was utterly speechless!
But seeing her so defeated, she didn’t want to lower herself to the same level.
Dealing with an irrational person, why bother arguing?
But just because she didn’t argue doesn’t mean others wouldn’t.
As soon as Zhan Hanjue entered the room, he heard Mrs. Leng venting these anger-induced words, immediately scowled, and strode over to sternly rebuke Mrs. Leng, "This is the Zhan Family. Who was the one who said they won’t enter the Zhan Family again? What, getting older has made you forget already?"
"Jue, how come you’re back?" Ye Ningwan immediately stood up.
Zhan Hanjue patted her arm and whispered, "Don’t worry, I’m here."
Ye Ningwan pursed her lips and smiled, thinking this person might believe she was being bullied!
Mrs. Leng also stood up, her face flushed with anger from being humiliated by her nephew, and she furiously retorted, "Zhan Hanjue, no matter what, I’m still your aunt, your elder. To speak to me this way, your father in heaven..."
"If my father were aware in heaven, knowing you’ve hurt his only son like this, he probably wouldn’t recognize you as his sister anymore." Zhan Hanjue interrupted her and continued.
Mrs. Leng was nearly infuriated to the point of fainting, her body swayed, but she managed to hold onto the nearby sofa.
Ye Ningwan frowned, quickly stepped forward to grab Mrs. Leng’s wrist.
Mrs. Leng angrily flung her off, "What are you doing?" 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"You look unwell, I’m checking your pulse. From a doctor’s perspective, I can’t just watch someone die in front of me," Ye Ningwan said.
Upon hearing the word "die," Mrs. Leng was somewhat frightened.
Ye Ningwan once again took her wrist, and this time, she didn’t resist.
"Have you recently experienced fatigue, bloating, or digestive discomfort?"
"A little bit, but it’s okay," Mrs. Leng responded with a somber face.
Ye Ningwan released her and calmly said, "Good, it’s just emotional distress causing instability. I’ll prescribe you some Chinese medicine for your recovery. But you’ve lived for so many years, there are some truths I won’t talk to you about because you should already understand them. Anger harms the body, and your temper isn’t naturally good. If you don’t change it, real problems could arise and that would be troublesome."
"Hmph, I know my body well," Mrs. Leng sighed in relief upon hearing she was physically fine, then snorted coldly and left.
Zhan Hanjue’s face was grim, "You shouldn’t have checked her pulse."
Ye Ningwan said, "After all, she’s your aunt. Earlier, she looked quite pale; as a doctor, I couldn’t stand by without helping."
"She’s fine."
"Who said she’s fine?" Ye Ningwan frowned, glanced around to make sure no one was nearby, then whispered, "When I checked her pulse earlier, she had excessive liver heat, affecting the liver. It possibly... might be liver cancer!"
