Becoming Secret Nanny for Possessive CEO-Chapter 78: Engagement News
Callum hoped his ex-girlfriend would answer him honestly because this was his last chance to forgive her for hurting him. Even though he had been hurt countless times from five years ago until now, he still considered Edith the woman he loved most. He knew Edith did something bad for a reason. Whether it was threats from Cliff or Arabella, what was certain was that Callum still wanted to find proof.
Meanwhile, Edith didn’t want to act out Callum’s question this time. However, that didn’t mean she wanted to give Callum a blunt answer that she didn’t actually want to marry Cliff. Instead, she put on a friendly expression to lighten the mood.
"Callum, even though I’m going to marry Cliff soon, I’m still wearing your necklace. I really like it."
Callum laughed awkwardly, staring at the diamond necklace still gleaming around his ex-girlfriend’s neck. "That necklace really suits you. I even went to the trouble of finding it for you."
"Because this necklace is so beautiful, I still wear it all the time."
"Thank goodness, at least you still remember me just because I’m wearing that necklace."
"Callum, I hope you understand what I meant. You once said this necklace was like an engagement ring. If I wear it, I’m definitely your fiancé. That’s why I’m still wearing this necklace because I want to marry you." Edith only dared to say it in her heart.
Just as Edith was about to reply to her ex-boyfriend, she suddenly heard his phone vibrate on the table. Her ex-boyfriend was forced to answer his stepmother’s call.
"Callum, are you busy right now?"
"No. What’s wrong?"
"I wanted to invite you to lunch today at my house. I hope you won’t avoid this important meeting."
"Okay, I’ll be there soon."
Callum immediately ended the phone call, looking back at his ex-girlfriend with a pale expression.
"Edith, may I ask you for a favor?"
"What kind of help?"
"I want to leave Erdin with you for a while until I finish attending an important meeting with my stepmother."
Edith nodded. "Okay, I’ll look after him today. You should just focus on the meeting."
Before he left his ex-girlfriend’s residence, he pressed his lips against hers for a few seconds. "I’ll be going now. I should be able to come home early today."
Edith was still stunned by his sudden kiss on the lips, even though she hadn’t yet given a clear answer. Did Callum actually understand what she meant? If he did, she would be incredibly relieved that their relationship could still be restored.
"I’ll be waiting for you, Callum."

Callum was forced to return to his stepfamily’s house, even though he still hadn’t had enough of talking to his ex-girlfriend. He was actually embarrassed to kiss her on the lips in such an awkward situation. He kept touching her lips with a shy smile. Seeing that his ex didn’t protest when he kissed her, did that mean he still had hope of marrying her after all this was over? That’s what made him even more impatient to meet his ex-lover again.
Upon arriving at a luxurious residence, Callum entered with a cold stare, as the house held no happy memories associated with him. Furthermore, he was suddenly invited to lunch by his stepmother. He was certain there must be a hidden agenda behind the family lunch.
Callum took the seat next to his half-brother awkwardly.
"Callum, how are you doing lately?" Diana asked kindly.
"I’m fine."
"By the way, why don’t you invite Erdin to have lunch with us?"
"I asked Patrick to look after him for me all day. Besides, Erdin wouldn’t feel comfortable if this conversation didn’t involve him."
Diana smiled sarcastically as she sipped her tea. "Actually, I wanted to invite you to lunch today because I have something important to tell you."
Callum’s guess was that Cliff and Edith were engaged. He didn’t need to tell them directly; he already knew about it from the start due to eavesdropping. However, he remained innocent to avoid arousing Cliff’s suspicions.
"What news?"
"Cliff and Edith are now engaged. Their engagement party will be held in two weeks. I hope you can attend this important event."
Callum lifted the corners of his lips confidently. "Of course I can attend so my brother won’t be embarrassed."
Cliff raised his glass. "But you’re okay with hearing that your ex-girlfriend will eventually marry me? You used to love her so much."
"If Edith really loves you, why would I stop you from marrying her? Besides, five years have passed."
"If Edith marries Cliff, you have to give Erdin to her, Callum."
"Why should I give Erdin away? Erdin is my son. He loves me very much, too."
Cliff slammed the glass down roughly. "Callum, do you still not understand? Erdin and Eliana are twins. If you separate them, you’ll be considered a criminal!"
"I will still protect my son from you. Even though I’ve given up Edith, I won’t give my biological son to a man who isn’t related by blood."
"Callum, according to the DNA test results, you are not Erdin’s father, but Cliff’s."
Callum clenched his fists and slammed the table. "No. I don’t care! Erdin isn’t an object, and he’ll always be my family."
"Do you want Erdin to suffer the same fate as you?" the father asked with a cold stare.
"What? How dare you compare Erdin to me!"
"If you still insist on taking Erdin, then we will consider Erdin an illegitimate grandchild!"
"Is this your ploy to actually approve Edith and Cliff’s engagement so you can take our twins?" Callum flicked his shirt collar nimbly. "If Edith ever finds out the truth, I’m sure she’ll call off the engagement for the second time!"
"We actually didn’t mean to take your son–"
"So, until now, are you happy to see me living alone?"
"But, you still have us!"
"You never considered me as a human being! In your eyes, I was just an illegitimate child who should be thrown away!"
