Becoming Secret Nanny for Possessive CEO-Chapter 57: Competition
Edith and Callum exchanged embarrassed glances as everyone cheered them on to participate in the couples competition. Callum didn’t mind everyone cheering him on, as he wanted to participate with his girlfriend. However, the shy expression on his girlfriend’s face made him even more insecure. Should he just give in and go along with her wishes?
On the one hand, Callum still wanted to make the most of this opportunity, as all the parents supported him. He extended his right hand, gazing intently at his girlfriend as if inviting her to dance. Everyone watched in awe, cheering Edith on as she held Callum’s hand.
"Edith, it seems all parents are required to participate in the competition. Since all competitions require a partner, I hope you’ll be my partner today."
Edith looked at her lover with a shy smile. She could feel the current situation was like a proposal. All the parents were constantly cheering her on to be Callum’s partner, and her heart was also filled with joy because she really liked the current atmosphere. If all the parents supported their marriage, then her chances of marrying Callum would be even greater.
"Callum, since you asked me to be your partner today, it is certainly an honor for me to be your partner." In the end, Edith held Callum’s hand openly so that all the parents cheered happily, including the master of ceremonies who was touched by this sweet moment.
Callum waved Edith’s hand enthusiastically. "I can’t wait to play with you today."
"I hope I don’t disappoint you today. Since you asked me, I have to be perfect today." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"No need. Just seeing you willing to be by my side makes me happy."
Now all the parents were ready at the first play station. Edith had changed into a t-shirt and trousers so she could play more freely. Likewise, Callum had changed into similar clothes to his girlfriend’s. This only made everyone even more suspicious that they were a married couple.
"Callum, did you choose clothes that are similar to mine on purpose?" Edith asked in a whisper.
"Of course. Because I wanted to wear clothes similar to yours. I knew we were supposed to participate in the competition together."
"By the way, the first game is a one-legged race. I hope we can win this game."
"Leave the running to me. I’m used to it." Callum winked casually.
"But can you really run on one leg?" Edith crossed her arms. "Given your lavish lifestyle, it seems you’ve never tried anything unusual like this."
"You don’t have to worry. I can do anything. Have you forgotten that I’m a perfectionist CEO in everyone’s eyes?"
Still, Edith was worried her lover wouldn’t be able to do it. So, she instinctively put her arm around his waist. "We have to hold hands."
"But why are you hugging my waist?"
Edith looked away nervously. "Because if you put your arm around my waist, I’ll make sure you don’t fall."
"You just have to follow me. If you move according to my directions, you definitely won’t fall."
As the game began, Edith and Callum stepped in time with the rhythm. Edith was in charge of giving the signal to count to three, while Callum was in charge of making sure Edith didn’t fall. Thirty seconds had passed, and several couples had already fallen in the middle of the field due to missteps, leaving only three couples still enthusiastically running. Edith and Callum were increasingly eager to win this game so that their twins would also be happy. Moreover, hearing the enthusiastic cheers of their twins added to their enthusiasm.
"You can do it, honey. We’ll be at the finish line in just a little while!" Callum cheered, quickening his pace, watching the finish line just a few meters away.
While Edith’s heart raced at the sudden sweet words her lover uttered, she nearly tripped over the sweet words. Luckily, they made it to the finish line before time ran out.
They won the first game, causing Callum to lift his girlfriend’s body in a happy circle without realizing it. Edith was also overjoyed to have won the game with Callum, although she was embarrassed by being suddenly carried.
"Callum, we did it!"
"This is all thanks to you for believing in me. I told you before, we would win this game."
"But, can you put me down now? Do you want everyone to see us as a real couple?"
"Aren’t we a couple?"
"Callum, didn’t we agree to behave ourselves earlier? If you keep this up, everyone will think we’ve been acting."
"Well then, let’s move on to the next game now. I can’t wait to play jump rope with you."
Edith lowered her head. "But, I’m actually not very good at jump rope."
"What?!"
"I’m sorry, Callum. It looks like we’re going to fail the next game because of me."
"Actually, I wasn’t really expecting us to win. The important thing is that we won the game." Callum took his girlfriend’s hand again. "But I won’t let you handle the next game alone. I’ll teach you until you’re a pro."
Edith couldn’t hold back the tears of joy that welled up in her eyes. If she hadn’t had Callum with her to participate in the competition, she would have felt lonely and worthless. Callum was the only one who cared about her, even though she wasn’t very good at sports. Especially when Callum called her "darling," she longed to hear that nickname again.
When the second game began, Edith still didn’t want to jump over the rope. She was afraid the rope would catch on her feet and send her falling to the ground.
Callum immediately gripped both of her hands tightly. "Edith, if you had listened to my voice, I’m sure you wouldn’t have tripped."
"But, what if I fail?"
"If you fail, I’ll be your support if you fall. I don’t want to hurt you."
Edith finally jumped the rope as instructed by Callum. She successfully played jump rope with her boyfriend, making her smile grow even wider.
