Becoming Rich with Daily Scavenging APP-Chapter 516: Yushu Goes Public
Below the trending topic, Zhang Hongchao posted a comment saying that the cup of coffee Chen Yiyang gave him was so awful he poured it out after one sip.
Chen Yiyang quickly replied, "Dear Zhang, did you consider it might be because of the ice cubes your own company provided?"
Anyone could see that Chen Yiyang and Zhang Hongchao were teaming up for a humorous publicity stunt.
But, netizens just love watching these kinds of entertaining drama stories.
And soon, various accounts from Kuxing and Mishu also jumped on board, playing up a fake argument online.
For instance, a Mishu account claimed that when they worked at Kuxing, they were fired because they used less ice, which resulted in more coffee in the cup.
Then, a Kuxing account commented under a video by a blogger pretending to be an ugly guy, claiming he was the husband of a Mishu employee.
The two brands’ accounts continued arguing back and forth under that video.
The two big brands openly pulled each other down, quarreling and engaging in verbal battles.
Netizens had never seen anything like this before.
Even when big corporations with animosity clashed, it typically only involved higher-up leaders posting a few insinuating remarks.
But such large-scale online squabbling among lower-level employees like with Kuxing and Mishu had never happened before.
And arguing online wasn’t satisfying enough for them.
News broke the next day that a Mishu mascot sneaked over to steal Kuxing’s standee from outside their store.
Meanwhile, Kuxing employees caught and deflated the Mishu mascot.
This business rivalry turned into a child’s play.
The netizens were thoroughly entertained.
Brands like Redi and other coffee and tea brands started to sense something was off.
Because Kuxing and Mishu’s antics cost very little and generated a lot of buzz.
Recently, whenever netizens went online, they would see these two brands’ names.
Then Redi discovered its market share was steadily declining.
Redi and Kuxing didn’t have much of a price difference, so Redi had been focusing on marketing.
But now, with everyone online focused on Kuxing and Mishu, who even knew who Redi was anymore?
That’s when Redi realized it had been tricked!
Now, even throwing money at marketing efforts wasn’t working.
Not to mention that Kuxing and Mishu’s supposed quarreling was actually a joint marketing strategy, excluding other brands.
After handling the Kuxing situation, Chen Yiyang smoothly returned to Lin’an.
Plenty had happened there recently.
One was the sudden rise in popularity of the Super League, making the Changzhou Club he had sponsored with a small sum suddenly well-known.
The other was a local water company messing up and connecting the wrong pipes, giving some areas’ users a taste of true disaster.
Fortunately, Chen Yiyang didn’t live there.
Back in Lin’an, Chen Yiyang met up with Yang Chengru for dinner. Yang Chengru, recently so busy he had dark circles under his eyes, didn’t even feel like going out to eat.
So they just ordered delivery to Yang Chengru’s apartment.
"Lately, things have been non-stop," Yang Chengru complained, "No time for a break."
"Come on, you guys brought this on yourselves," Chen Yiyang retorted, rolling his eyes.
He knew what Yang Chengru had been busy with recently.
So he directly said, "My Yiyang Automobile has investments in Lin’an as well. I’ll later set up a batch of upstream and downstream suppliers to siphon off Yiyang Automobile’s profits, letting you invest for nothing."
"As long as the companies and people stay in Lin’an, I won’t ask for more," Yang Chengru had no energy to argue with Chen Yiyang’s jokes.
"Who said people would stay in the country? I never had disputes with foreign companies, nor feared being pursued in North America, yet I still frantically canceled my U.S. citizenship overnight. By then, I’d be living it up abroad."
"Alright, alright," Yang Chengru interjected, "When that incident happened, I was still in school. I didn’t get any benefits, yet now I have to help clean up the mess. Can’t you just say less?"
"Fine, fine," Chen Yiyang could see that Yang Chengru truly was annoyed by this, so he changed the subject.
"By the way, Yushu is preparing to go public soon—it will trigger another round of financing. I’m planning to co-invest, is Lin’an interested?"
Yushu is currently doing well, and has achieved profitability in its advantageous robotic dog sector.
However, in the humanoid robot sector, it still requires massive investment, with results that won’t be visible soon.
So even though Yushu is self-sufficient and doesn’t require much funds, it has still decided to go public to raise capital.
The other reason is to achieve a high valuation post-IPO, and then cash in some stock to allow part of the senior management and technical personnel to share in the company’s growth dividends.
After all, relying only on salaries, the technical talents of the company find it hard to commit loyally to Yushu.
This is a common pain point for many high-tech companies.
If they can’t go public, then the core technical talents’ income relies entirely on fixed salaries, making them easy targets for poaching by other companies.
So, pushing the company to go public gives the core technical talent a ray of hope, thereby stabilizing morale.
Chen Yiyang wasn’t against Yushu’s IPO and planned to continue co-investing.
But Yushu needs to bring in other investment institutions to share the risk and help in the IPO process. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
These investment institutions must have a good background, otherwise Yushu’s IPO might be rejected for various reasons like Mishu Ice City.
"I’ll check for you later, but I reckon Lin’an might only make a symbolic investment even if it does invest. Because for high-tech frontier enterprises like this, the future uncertainty is too immense. If it goes bankrupt, the person responsible for this investment will face scrutiny."
"Alright," Chen Yiyang understood the meaning behind Yang Chengru’s words.
However, after news of Yushu’s IPO got out, many institutions wanted to invest, including Ali.
Since Chen Yiyang hadn’t cleared up the troubles with Ali, he didn’t want them involved.
So he had no choice but to contact Wu Changxun to ask if Tengxu had any interest in investing in Yushu.
Tengxu, of course, was willing. With a company as affluent and promising as Yushu, Tengxu was very eager to invest.
So Chen Yiyang brought Tengxu and two other large investment institutions into Yushu, which began preparations for the IPO process.
However, before Chen Yiyang could wrap things up, he was forced to head to the Imperial Capital.
This trip to the Imperial Capital was for a meeting.
The top brass called for a meeting with Jindong, Yiyang Flash Sale, Ali, and Ugly Group to discuss cooling down the recent intense subsidy wars for food delivery and flash sales.
The other three brands, being established companies, sent other senior executives to attend.
Chen Yiyang, aiming to appear compliant, attended in person.
