Becoming Rich with Daily Scavenging APP-Chapter 346: Returning to Japan
Chen Yiyang called Marco Junior and talked about the traffic drone project.
"Bro," Marco Junior immediately said, "you’re right, I think this thing has a lot of market potential too.
You know how jammed Sao Paulo usually is? If helicopters weren’t unsafe, I’d definitely not drive; four hours a day, and three and a half of those I’m stuck in traffic!"
"Uh, that does sound pretty jammed," Chen Yiyang said, thinking to himself, could Sao Paulo really be more jammed than the Imperial Capital?
But Marco Junior started talking non-stop about Sao Paulo’s traffic congestion and its past glorious traffic jams, completely blowing Chen Yiyang’s mind.
When Sao Paulo hosted the World Cup, it had a traffic jam of 344 kilometers, directly breaking Brazil’s world traffic jam record, and the traffic diversion was completely paralyzed, with many people eventually forced to get out of their cars and walk away.
Among the five longest super jams on record globally, two happened in Sao Paulo.
Moreover, among these five super jams, only three occurred after the year 2000; one was due to the snow disaster in 2008 domestically, which was a natural disaster and couldn’t be helped.
The other two all occurred in Sao Paulo, and had nothing to do with the weather; they were purely due to Sao Paulo’s poor traffic, too many vehicles, and the lack of a professional traffic management team.
Clearly, Sao Paulo’s traffic situation is terrible; even if Marco Junior’s supercar is fast, it still has to crawl along with other grocery shopping cars.
"How about we set up a joint venture in Sao Paulo to specialize in selling and maintaining these traffic drones?" Marco Junior suggested.
"A dedicated joint venture?" Chen Yiyang hesitated, "With just one city like Sao Paulo, how big could the market be? Is it worth setting up a joint venture just for that?"
"Of course, it’s worth it!" Marco Junior said excitedly, "How much do these drones cost anyway? It’s the subsequent maintenance and system upkeep that’s most lucrative.
Selling each drone to the Sao Paulo City Government for five thousand US Dollars, then charging five hundred US Dollars a month for system upkeep and drone maintenance.
The entire city of Sao Paulo is expected to need about five hundred drones. After selling the drones, just the monthly maintenance fee would bring us half a million dollars. These fifty dollars are basically no cost, it’s all pure profit!"
Marco Junior painted a picture for Chen Yiyang of the prospects of opening a drone joint venture in Sao Paulo.
By then, hiring five or six employees would be enough to keep it running, and the monthly cost would be less than ten thousand dollars, but the profit would be five hundred thousand dollars.
Of course, you would have to deduct favors to key people in certain government departments, but you would still have a monthly income of four hundred thousand dollars.
This is basically free money with no cost.
Marco Junior’s way of making money was quite similar to Chen Yiyang’s thinking.
But Chen Yiyang wasn’t that bold when it came to pricing.
The traffic drones he sold domestically already covered the costs with their pricing, with the primary profit coming from long-term charges for system and drone maintenance.
Of course, he dared not charge maintenance fees per drone like Marco Junior, he usually negotiated a general price locally.
However, as Marco Junior said, the staff needed for drone maintenance doesn’t need to be many, especially since domestic traffic is convenient; just maintaining a few maintenance teams in Lin’an is sufficient. If a problem arises, they can fly there directly to resolve it.
Doing business with the government has always been lucrative; the difficulty lies in how to close the deal and how to smoothly collect the payment afterward.
However, considering the traffic department usually has funds available, as long as the relations are in place, there’s no worry about the payment issue.
"How about this," Chen Yiyang thought, following Marco Junior’s method might lead to unpredictable problems in the future.
So, he said to Marco Junior, "There is no need to establish a joint venture company. You can directly set up a company locally, and my company will be responsible for selling you the traffic drones and providing some after-sales training, how about that?"
"Bro, thank you so much." Marco Junior immediately realized that Chen Yiyang was deliberately letting him have most of the profits.
Although he didn’t know why Chen Yiyang was doing this.
But there’s no reason to refuse free money.
So, Marco Junior quickly finalized various agreements with Chen Yiyang.
At that time, Marco Junior could simply send someone to Huaxia to sign the contract.
"If you don’t have much going on recently, why don’t you come to Huaxia for a visit?" Chen Yiyang suddenly invited Marco Junior to tour Huaxia.
"I don’t have time recently, I need to take a trip to Japan first. I’ll see if I can come to Huaxia after my trip to Japan is over."
"Why going to Japan, what are you doing in Japan?" Chen Yiyang asked curiously.
"To attend the World Expo, and see if there are any business opportunities," Marco Junior said, "Recently, I’ve been dating a girlfriend who loves to travel, and she’s clamoring to go to Japan for the World Expo, so I might as well go there."
Upon hearing this, Chen Yiyang realized the Japan World Expo was about to take place.
Chen Yiyang thought to himself that he didn’t have much going on lately, and Yiyang Automobile was also preparing for initial work to enter the Japanese market, so he might as well go there to inspect.
And visit Japan’s World Expo along the way.
So Chen Yiyang asked the accountant if she wanted to go to Japan.
"Sure, sure," the accountant immediately responded, "I didn’t get to enjoy much the last time I went to Japan; with the World Expo happening, it’s the perfect opportunity for a trip."
Chen Yiyang and the accountant sorted out their domestic work. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
They arrived in Japan the day before the Japan World Expo’s opening ceremony.
This time, Japan’s World Expo was not held in Tokyo, but in Osaka.
So, naturally, Chen Yiyang couldn’t stay at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo as he did before.
But luckily, Osaka has a couple of nice top-notch hotels.
Following the recommendation of the international travel agency, Chen Yiyang stayed at the Conrad Hotel in Osaka.
This hotel opened in 2017 and is said to hold the top spot for hardware in Kansai.
The hotel is located in the Celebration City on Osaka’s Central Island, the area with the richest artistic atmosphere in Osaka.
Of course, the downside of this hotel is that it’s too modern and lacks the traditional Japanese flavor of the Imperial Hotel.
But fortunately, the hotel is located on floors forty and above of the building, offering a panoramic view of the entire city of Osaka.
Staying in the hotel room at night and looking out gives you the feeling of being the Arasaka boss in a cyberpunk setting.
Chen Yiyang arrived in Osaka during daylight, so after checking in, he leisurely accompanied the accountant to explore the arts district.
And then he discovered, indeed, Osaka people are anomalies among the Japanese people.
