Chapter 35: [Frog] - The Prophet’s Part (10)

Only on the day of the sacrifice will the door open...

But right now, Alice’s group is in danger!

Silas, with his cold expression, and Drake, who is on the brink of exploding, have flames surrounding him, wrapping around his sword.

"I don’t believe I can’t smash this door!"

With that, he charged toward the door with unimaginable force, expecting a massive collision that would cause an explosive impact. But at this moment, the system’s notification suddenly rang out.

[Congratulations, humanity has summoned the Prophet!]

Drake opened his eyes wide in astonishment, freezing in place. The large sword came crashing down on the ground with a loud sound, but just before it hit the ground, the flames on the sword almost wholly disappeared.

"Someone has summoned the Prophet," Silas said in a deep voice, unable to hide a hint of pleasure in his words. If the one who summoned the Prophet is one of the three in danger, they are saved.

Drake’s thoughts shifted in another direction: "Someone summoned the Prophet... and it wasn’t me?"

Drake muttered, his expression even more grim than before.

A few minutes earlier, while Drake was outside, fighting the door, Alice’s group’s situation had worsened inside the door.

"We can’t open the door normally; this door is impossible to open!" July shouted helplessly. Just then, a massive tongue dripping with dark blue liquid suddenly shot toward her.

July quickly backed away, but she forgot that the door was behind her. The tongue slammed into her, making a loud sound as it struck her, corroding one side of her sleeve and her flesh.

July could only scream in pain, but Austin quickly rescued her. He tore the massive tongue in half with his bare hands. At that moment, his body was torn apart, blood and shredded flesh littering the ground. One of his intestines was even spilling out of his stomach, and half of his face had become a horrifying sight, with his eyeball hanging out and his teeth exposed, looking more terrifying than the monsters they hadn’t even encountered yet.

But he seemed oblivious to the pain and continued to shield July and Alice, protecting them.

July clutched her constantly corroding wound, sweat streaming down her face in agony. She even bit her lip so hard it bled. But this was only a single wound—it’s hard to imagine how Austin could endure such pain.

"Keep trying to find a way to unlock the door. There must be a way to open it," Alice said as she stepped forward to shield July. At the same time, she raised her hand, and a blue light radiated from it. The light enveloped Austin’s shattered body, rapidly healing him and restoring him to his original state. In return, Alice’s face turned pale, as if all the blood had drained from her body, her brow furrowed in pain.

"Alright, Alice, only heal halfway!" Austin’s hoarse voice rang out. Alice hesitated momentarily, then slowly replied, "No, you’re protecting us."

Austin didn’t say anything more and continued to battle the enormous frog tongues. Their venomous and powerful attacks caused wounds on his body, but they quickly healed thanks to Alice’s powers.

July watched this scene and couldn’t help but smile, trembling as she whispered, "The key... the key must be in that door." She pointed to the door in the middle, her lips quivering, her eyes gleaming with an unnatural light. She was clearly terrified but also exhilarated by a strange contradiction.

Alice followed July’s finger, noticing that the door in the middle had not released any of the massive frog tongues. Though it stood wide open, they could see pure darkness, nothing visible within.

Before Alice could say anything, July suddenly staggered and ran forward, a crazed smile on her lips. Her brown eyes had turned completely black, with black mist pouring from them.

"July!" Alice yelled, but July was oblivious and continued running forward. She had cast a mental spell on herself to bring courage. Her goal was the key, the key, the key!

But she wasn’t strong enough, and Austin didn’t have enough hands to stop all the dangers.

A massive frog tongue suddenly shot out from a door on the left, heading straight for July, while other tongues restrained Austin.

"No!" Alice shouted.

"Dingggg"

Suddenly, the sound of a large clockbell rang out, and at that moment, everything before their eyes seemed to freeze. Alice could see the tongue hanging motionless in mid-air, unable to move. Austin glanced at her with an expression of disbelief while Alice’s eyes widened in amazement. At this moment, only their eyeballs could move, the only things that expressed their feelings.

Stars and countless numbers surrounded everything them. They saw a gigantic golden clock surrounded by glowing streams of golden energy. In the center of the clock, a figure stood. The wind blew, causing his hair and cloak to flutter. His eyes and a golden gem on the necklace around his neck suddenly shone with blinding light. The clock hands behind him spun faster and faster, and the space around them seemed to be pulled back. In the end, they returned to reality!

[Here it comes! Prophet!]

[Raise the flag of the great god! Prophet, come forth and save humanity!]

[Again, another believer added to the "harem." Prophet, you don’t know how cool you look whenever you appear!]

The comments kept spamming due to the Prophet’s appearance. Meanwhile, outside, July’s body collapsed, and her eyes returned to normal. The sound of something snapping echoed, and at that moment, the frog tongue that was meant to attack July shot straight toward Prophet, the figure now in July’s place.

"Be careful!" Alice instinctively shouted toward Prophet. But what happened next stunned them all. Upon making contact with Prophet, the massive frog tongue instantly turned to dust, not even having time to struggle or inflict any harm!

Alice widened her eyes, and Austin’s mouth hung open. It was unbelievable that something that had caused them so much trouble was reduced to nothing more than a dry twig in front of Prophet!

Indeed, he was a god—the hope of humanity’s future!

But at that moment, the "hope of humanity’s future" was gritting his teeth and silently wiping away tears.

[Damage to the card: 40%]

The moment the tongue touched Prophet’s body, a line of bright red text appeared before Silvanus’s eyes!

Help!

With just one strike, 40% of his health was gone. These monsters were terrifying! Did they even want to leave anyone alive?!

Though his inner thoughts screamed in panic, his outward composure remained intact.

The others only saw Prophet raise his hand. Countless numbers immediately surrounded the frog tongues, their golden glow shining brightly. Then, the tongues turned to dust simultaneously, and the space around them fell into an unimaginable silence.

The only sound that remained was the slow, leisurely footsteps of Prophet.

Prophet walked past Austin, his large golden eyes embroidered on his cloak glowing faintly in the dim light.

Prophet entered the room without any frog tongues.

"Boom, boom!" The whole space shook, and the heavy wooden door opened with a roar, sending dust flying.

Alice opened her eyes wide, her face filled with joy at escaping death.

"Are you all alright?" Silas’s voice suddenly rang out, followed by Drake’s mocking tone: "Stop asking stupid questions. Of course, if we still stand here, we’re not dead."

Alice quickly responded, "We’re fine. It’s all thanks to Prophet!"

She said this while looking toward the door, and the others also turned to look inside, especially Gon, whose eyes appeared incredibly panicked, clearly disoriented by the strange developments.

Silas noticed Gon’s expression and frowned slightly. Wasn’t Gon a monster? Why was he showing such a reaction? Or was he acting too convincingly?

How could there be humans in the dungeon...
