Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 178: [Blizzard Manor] - Prophet’s part (25)
Chapter 178: [Blizzard Manor] - Prophet’s part (25)
The foolish, autistic mushroom Prophet entered the mansion with a blank expression while Drake and his team had already "cleaned up" their way to Vincent’s room, the mansion’s owner’s room. Upon entering this space, they realized the mansion only had four floors, and the owner resided on the top floor. It was as if something had been clouding their perception from the beginning, altering reality—though they couldn’t be sure that what they were seeing now was real, either. That’s just how this dungeon was—interweaving illusion and reality.
Their pace was breakneck, and they didn’t bother with anything unnecessary along the way. Alice was genuinely worried that Sana and Nana might appear and take care of them at any moment.
Knock, knock, knock!
Alice gently knocked on the door. At the same time, Vincent’s voice rang out, somewhat cold:
"Come in."
Drake’s group exchanged glances before stepping into Vincent’s room. Inside, Vincent was seated at his desk. His hair was as gray as the butler’s, his face lined with wrinkles. As he noticed Drake’s group enter, he lifted his eyes—dark, emotionless eyes sweeping over them before returning to the documents in his hands.
Drake’s group looked at each other and began tidying the room.
At the same time, Susan’s team had searched the entire mansion without finding a single clue.
Zara couldn’t help but mutter, "Looks like Drake and the others have disappeared again..."
Susan recalled what Drake’s group had said before—it was clear they had fallen into a hazardous situation, possibly even entered an entirely different space. Perhaps this time was no different.
Her gaze shifted toward the kitchen, where loud chopping continued to echo. It felt like Chef Ethan was about to split the cutting board in half.
By this time, they had circled the hallway connecting the third and fourth floors several times yet had seen no sign of the butler or the two maids. The entire mansion now seemed to have only one remaining person—Chef Ethan.
"Let’s go. We’ll head up to the fourth floor first."
Susan took the lead, and the others quickly followed. Mason’s group still wore terrified expressions, while Emilia and Stella were nearly numb as they carried out the mission.
The fourth floor looked grand, but it contained only a single room. That room sat squarely in the middle of the floor, domineering in its presence as if reflecting the personality of the mansion’s owner.
"This is stupidly smooth," Jessica muttered.
Indeed, they had made it up here without being blocked by the maids or the butler.
Click!
The door opened easily—it wasn’t even locked.
But the moment they stepped inside, the sight before them instantly sent chills down their spines.
The walls were lined with human skulls—some of them even mummified to preserve the facial features of the dead. It was like a twisted display, blatantly revealing the cruelty and cold-blooded nature of the room’s owner.
There were so many skulls that it was impossible to count them all!
Bang!
Just then, a thunderous sound erupted—the door behind them slammed shut completely.
At that moment, a glow emerged from Susan’s hand, ensuring that not even a second of darkness could engulf them!
"Watch out!" Susan shouted, quickly dodging to the side. The others followed suit right after.
BANG, BANG, BANG!
The entire room trembled as a massive skeletal hand slammed down where they had just stood.
Looking around, they saw the entire room now surrounded by bony limbs.
Eight large skeletal arms extended from the ceiling.
And from the ceiling hung a monstrous creature composed of countless skulls, resembling a gigantic chandelier. Numerous empty eye sockets stared intently at the tiny humans below.
Drip, drip, drip.
The bright red liquid flowed from the sockets, falling to the ground like fine rain.
The eight bony arms began to move without a sound—striking out at Susan’s group!
"Activate the shield!" Susan and Zara practically roared in unison.
At that moment, the believers in their group quickly formed a small circle, extending both hands forward in prayer. Holy energy descended, forming a protective dome that shielded them.
Although they were believers of two different angels, they channeled their power the same way—simple prayer for blessings and drawing upon the strength of light.
Only top-tier believers possessed more powerful abilities.
That’s why so many espers were believers of the angels. Even if they weren’t espers, they could still gain powers through the angels’ blessings—enough, at the very least, to protect them in moments of danger.
BAM!
Zara lunged forward, her strong legs kicking one of the monster’s bony hands. The impact was powerful enough to make the creature stagger—but only slightly.
The monster quickly regained its balance. It raised one of its massive hands, the fingers alone enormous and razor-sharp, and stabbed straight toward Zara!
Zara swiftly dodged, continuing to look for an opening to attack. No matter how brutal this monster was, after enough of her kicks, cracks were bound to appear on its body!
Tom remained rooted in place—his injuries were permanent, and at this point, he didn’t have the strength to maintain his abilities. Mason and Justin were on the side, doing their best to assist the others, hoping to deal some damage to the monster’s strange body.
Whoosh! frёewebnoѵēl.com
On another side, flames suddenly ignited, crawling up the monster’s hand and spreading across the skull-covered creature hanging from the ceiling.
Countless skull-mouths on the monster opened, releasing a grating, rattling sound of bones—it made one’s teeth ache just hearing it. The beast roared in pain and fury, its two hands slamming toward the protective dome.
BOOM!
The monster possessed unimaginable strength, but the angel’s believers were not weak either. The shield remained firm, showing no sign of breaking after just one or two attacks.
Susan still stood motionless. Her ability was unique—she wouldn’t use it unless necessary.
Especially with Jessica here... Susan thought silently.
Just then, Jessica suddenly shouted, "Zara, fall back!"
Zara immediately retreated into the dome of light. One of the monster’s hands had been broken by her, but she had also sustained numerous wounds. Still, her expression showed no pain or fear—only exhilaration.
Because she knew Jessica was about to unleash something big.
Jessica brought both hands in front of her and murmured, "May He grant me the fire that burns away the night."
As soon as she spoke, her eyes began to shine with dazzling light. At the exact moment, flames burst forth from the dome’s center, spreading toward the monster. The scorching fire licked across its body, charring the bones, slowly turning them to ash. The process wasn’t fast—but it was relentless.
The monster thrashed unwillingly, cracking bones echoing throughout the room.
Then, suddenly, a heavy darkness—thick like some slime—swept down and enveloped their dome of light.
"Shlunk, shlunk, shlunk!"
At that moment, the sickening sound of flesh being pierced rang out. The expressions on the faces of the believers maintaining the light dome were still frozen in shock—disbelief, and utter despair at being betrayed by their comrades.
Emilia pulled her hand out from a teammate’s chest. Her hands had morphed into sharp, scythe-like blades over a meter long, formed from some dark substance that extended seamlessly from her arms.
Her eyes were now completely overtaken by blackness—no whites remained. She opened her mouth in a grin, and the same black substance began oozing from her lips.
And it wasn’t just her—Stella, Mason, and Justin were all in the same horrifying state!
Splurt!
Stella pulled her hand free, and Susan staggered, nearly collapsing, her cold gaze locking onto them.
On the side, Zara and Jessica found their feet trapped by the ground—earth had crept up and clamped tightly, as though trying to mold them into human-shaped clay statues.
The betrayal had been swift and utterly unexpected. All the believers had been slaughtered. The protective dome had vanished.
Jessica curled her lips in a smirk.
This thing doesn’t know how to pick people...
Without another word, she raised her hand, and two blazing arrows launched toward Mason and Justin!
They tried to flee—but they never had a chance. With incredible speed, the arrows moved as if alive, piercing straight through their bodies. The remaining flames crawled up and licked at the two dark espers, consuming them. They screamed and writhed in agony, but in the end, they were reduced to nothing more than a pile of ash.
From the side, Susan also delivered judgment, her voice ice-cold:
"Stella, Emilia—die."
As soon as the words left her lips, Emilia and Stella—who had just been preparing to strike again—suddenly twisted violently, their scythe-like arms turning inward toward their necks as if compelled to commit suicide. Their faces contorted in anguish, caught in a fierce internal struggle.
Susan’s brows furrowed. Her emotionless eyes watched as both heads were cleanly severed, flying high into the air. At the exact moment, a flood of hot, crimson blood splattered across her vision, streaming from the corners of her eyes and trickling down her face.
She could feel its warmth on her lips. Without expression, Susan lifted a hand, wiping the blood from her nose and cheek, then turned to look at Jessica.
"I’ll leave the rest to you."
