Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 174: [Blizzard Manor] - Prophet’s part (21)
Chapter 174: [Blizzard Manor] - Prophet’s part (21)
At this moment, everyone’s attention was almost entirely focused on the dark shadow on the ground. However, Luis paid special attention to the child Captain Drake protected so fiercely.
All eyes turned toward Tom. He was lying on the ground, eyes rolled back, his body drenched in sweat. Perhaps the pain had been too much, causing him to pass out. The transformation in his body was visibly apparent.
His entire body looked slightly shriveled. His skin had lost its elasticity and hung loosely, like that of an older man, as if there was barely any flesh beneath it.
"This thing has drained Tom’s life force. Judging by his current state, whatever was inside him has probably fully emerged," Jessica crouched down, observing the dark shadow on the ground. She glanced back at Tom and voiced her conclusion.
"If this thing has completely absorbed Tom’s life force, then it could fully take his place," Susan muttered.
The others couldn’t help but shiver slightly, especially those in a similar condition as Tom—their expressions turned fearful.
Emilia hugged her arms tightly, rubbing them with a hint of frenzy as if she could feel something squirming beneath her skin. It gave her goosebumps all over.
Zara murmured, "I even feel like nighttime is when this thing will act."
Her gaze toward Emilia’s group was no longer friendly—almost as if she wanted to tie them all up on the spot.
Emilia and the others were furious and terrified but had no way out. What could they possibly do? The truth was being laid bare before them: they might already be half-dead!
"But why is that child able to do this? Why did that thing leave Tom’s body when it came face-to-face with the child?! I think that thing is targeting the kid—there’s something wrong with him!" Mason shouted, his voice trembling, finger pointing directly at Saphen.
Justin quickly chimed in from the side, "That’s right! If he has this kind of ability, then let him save all of us!"
His voice was filled with fear and desperation—he had forgotten entirely that begging for help wasn’t something you did with that kind of tone.
Luis had the same question as Mason. But Mason was a fool—given his current position, he had no right to question anything. Not to mention, his way of speaking was truly irritating. If Captain Drake got angry, he might deal with Mason on the spot...
Sure enough, before Saphen could speak, Captain Drake’s expression had already darkened to an extreme degree. Holding Saphen in one arm, he rose to his feet. A large blade appeared in his hand, pointed straight at Mason and Justin.
"You lot are just monsters-in-waiting. Cutting you down now would be the best choice for humanity."
His eyes were filled with murderous intent—it was not an empty threat.
Mason and Justin trembled.
Justin pressed his lips together, summoning all his courage to speak: "But if that child could draw that monster out of Tom, then he must be able to save us too!"
"No. He can’t," Drake said flatly.
To him, Saphen’s safety was far more important than the lives of these half-monsters.
That thing had leapt from Tom’s body and lunged straight toward Saphen earlier—it was obviously after him.
And that thing was strange—no one knew how to kill it. Drake would never allow something like that to threaten Saphen.
Right now, Saphen was still crying—how pitiful he looked.
"Are you sure Drake doesn’t have a child of his own? Look at him right now—he’s acting like a crazed father who would protect his kid no matter what. Even when his powers controlled him, he wasn’t like this," Layla couldn’t help but say from outside.
Standing beside her, Frank couldn’t help but think: Saphen isn’t Drake’s son. Saphen is Drake’s father—maybe even the father of all of them.
Meanwhile, inside the dungeon, Susan looked at Drake and said, "But if Saphen can draw the monsters out of their bodies, let’s have him try. I can guarantee the boy won’t be harmed."
Drake thought Susan’s deathly pale face as she said this didn’t exactly inspire confidence.
Still, he had calmed down. He looked at Saphen and asked, "Can you do it?"
Saphen, still nestled against his chest, shook his head firmly.
Drake turned to the others and said, "You see? He can’t do it. This was just a fluke—clearly, that thing wanted to abandon Tom and pick Saphen as its new host."
After a pause, he added, "Everyone here needs to stay vigilant, no matter what because we have no idea when those monsters might switch hosts—especially at night."
Luis nodded beside him, adding, "And we also can’t trust anything these people say anymore. As Susan mentioned—they lied about opening the door. Maybe that wasn’t their will but the will of the monster beginning to control them."
He turned to look at Mason’s group, his gaze cold behind his glasses: "Captain Drake is right. They’re already half-monsters."
Luis only had doubts about the special treatment Drake gave to Saphen—other than that, he agreed with everything Drake had said. Honestly, they should’ve killed these people already to prevent future problems.
[Classic Luis, hahahaha]
[With Luis here, some fools better stop struggling]
[I swear, if Luis pushes just a bit more, Susan might kill them right now—look at her face, she’s thinking about it!]
[They look like normal people, but none of them are haha]
[You gotta be a little unhinged to be strong!]
[Still so curious about Saphen’s true identity... If he can draw out that shadow, he must be incredibly powerful—powerful enough to attract it...]
[I always thought Saphen was powerful. Not just anyone can escape after entering the maid’s room.]
[Makes sense. Ugh, my head hurts from thinking about it!!!]
At that moment, everyone’s attention shifted temporarily to the thing pinned to the ground.
Luis bent down, reaching out to investigate, and touched the black mass.
A thick glob of black slime came as he pulled his hand back. The slime clung to his hand briefly before sliding back down—slick and slippery.
"It’s not just a shadow... but not a liquid either..." Luis muttered. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"How do we kill it?" Jessica asked directly from the side.
Luis shook his head. "No need to kill it. This thing’s level is lower than Bella’s."
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned to look at Bella.
Bella immediately stepped forward. Raising her hand, a magical staff appeared in her grasp.
She smiled and gently tapped the black mass. "Come now—become my sweet candy warrior!"
As always, her dramatic lines made everyone’s skin crawl. Fiona and Harry couldn’t help but rub their arms, and even Luis’s expression stiffened.
Alice clapped her hands in encouragement from the side— to her, Bella was no different from a child.
Brightly colored energy, like a sweet candy explosion, immediately engulfed the entire black shadow. A pink mist clouded everyone’s vision.
When the pink smoke faded, the appearance of that dark creature was once again revealed before everyone.
Only, it was no longer dark.
Now, a pink "rug" lay sprawled out on the ground. After receiving permission from Susan, the rug immediately rippled and rose, stretching out a hand—if it could be called that—and affectionately rubbed against Bella.
Its body twisted and swayed nonstop as if it were celebrating something.
Bella gently touched it and said with a smile, "You should stay hidden."
As soon as she spoke, the pink rug twisted and shrank to the smallest size possible, finally becoming a pink flower, now adorning the hem of Bella’s dress.
"I wonder what that thing can do to help us in battle. Or should I call it the candy warrior?" Fiona remarked sarcastically from the side.
Bella frowned slightly in anger. "At least for now, it’s not an enemy."
Drake glanced at Fiona, and she immediately shut up, not daring to speak further.
Standing nearby, Alice couldn’t help but say, "It’s like a charm to draw attention—very cute."
Facing Alice’s gentle gaze, Fiona’s cheeks flushed slightly, and the strange irritation in her heart calmed a bit. She muttered shyly, "Who wants to get her attention anyway... Sister Alice, don’t say weird things."
She seemed slightly flustered but didn’t dare raise her voice at Alice.
Alice just smiled without saying anything more.
"Should we try again?" Jessica’s gaze turned toward the unconscious Tom lying on the ground. "Let those people out of the villa—maybe the monsters inside them won’t be able to resist and will come out on their own. He might look half-dead right now, but that’s still better than becoming a monster."
Mason’s group instinctively shivered, remembering that feeling of being worse than dead.
But for the moment, none of them objected to Jessica’s suggestion. They were afraid, too—afraid of becoming monsters.
"It’s useless. If the monsters were going to come out, then the one inside Mason should’ve already come out this morning," Susan said.
After all, Mason had been rolling around in the snow for a long time—Susan had been ruthless. But even then, even when Mason was on the brink of death, the creature inside him had only squirmed through his stomach and veins, refusing to leave his body.
