Became a Demon with Pregnancy System-Chapter 56: An Assassin
"Naturally, a waste like you can’t get into the eyes of the teacher."
"Don’t accept the competition?" Luke’s movements were deliberate, his hands and feet flexing as if preparing for the inevitable.
The fire in his belly had been simmering for too long, and now, facing Drake Vadis, the time to release it had come. After all, he couldn’t vent his frustration on Leonard Jones, and Drake Vadis, the so-called number one on the Fire Academy list, seemed like a suitable substitute.
"Compared to me?" Drake sneered, his tone dripping with disdain. "You’re a freshman. Are you even worthy?"
Luke replied with equal derision, "The real question is—are you worthy?"
Drake’s sneer deepened, but before he could respond, Leonard Jones’s sharp voice cut through the tension. "That’s enough! This ends now."
Finally, Leonard Jones displayed the demeanor expected of the Mu family head. Standing tall, he attempted to defuse the growing conflict. Morgan Jones quickly stepped in to assist, hoping to de-escalate the situation.
"Neo’s injuries are already problematic enough," Leonard Jones continued. "Another fight will only worsen matters, regardless of who wins. This needs to end now."
Leonard Jones’s gaze turned toward Luke. A storm brewed behind his expression, and though he wanted to lash out, he knew better. If Luke truly was the personal disciple of Professor Xavier, openly disrespecting him would only backfire on the Mu family.
With great effort, Leonard Jones swallowed his pride. "Nu Jiao, take your friends and get some rest."
Morgan Jones approached them with a warm smile, trying to ease the lingering tension. "Good niece, let’s move along. Chen Lu, I understand you want to support Nu Jiao, but let’s not escalate things further. Also," he added with a frown, "perhaps you should let go of her hand."
Luke didn’t bother explaining, though he found the situation amusing. If only Morgan knew the truth—that Marissa carried his child—how would he react?
"Fine," Luke replied with a smirk. "For your sake, Uncle Jones, I’ll spare him this time."
Without waiting for a rebuttal from Drake, Luke turned and left, his expression unbothered. Behind him, Drake’s fists clenched, and sparks of flame danced in the air.
Drake’s voice was cold as ice. "Find out everything about him," he ordered his subordinates. "If he really is Professor Xavier’s disciple, we’ll reconsider. But if not..." A cruel smile played on his lips. "I’ll make sure to personally choose his burial site."
The tension eased as Luke, Marissa, and the others followed Morgan Jones to the Mu family villa’s grand hall. It was midday, and the hall was sparsely occupied. However, one presence was impossible to ignore—the bubbly, effervescent Tina Baine, known affectionately as "Tutu."
Tina’s cheerful demeanor lit up the hall, but Luke’s gaze lingered elsewhere. His eyes were locked on her most prominent assets—treasures that could easily captivate any man’s attention.
Marissa noticed his gaze and sighed. Luke truly was incorrigible.
"Tutu!" Marissa’s mood brightened as she ran toward her friend. "I’ve missed you so much!"
The two women embraced tightly, tears welling in their eyes. "I was so worried about you, Marissa!" Tina exclaimed. "When I heard about the Volcanic Poison Wolf, I thought I’d lost you forever."
Zoe Miller watched the emotional reunion with a complicated expression. There was something about Tina’s energy that felt oddly familiar—almost too familiar.
Before Zoe could say anything, Tina broke away from Marissa and made a beeline for Luke. Without warning, she wrapped him in a bear hug.
Luke stood frozen for a moment before sputtering, "Can’t... breathe!"
Tina finally released him, her smile as bright as ever. "Thank you for saving Marissa. I’ve heard so much about you!"
Luke adjusted his collar, pretending to be unbothered. "It was nothing. Just a man’s duty."
Tina tilted her head, studying him with curiosity. "A hero, huh? That’s impressive. But you owe me a favor now."
"A favor?" Luke repeated, raising an eyebrow.
Tina shot a glance at Marissa, her expression turning sly. "I wonder what kind of ’payment’ she gave you for saving her."
The comment left Marissa flustered. Meanwhile, Tina’s sharp instincts began piecing things together. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she observed Marissa’s movements—subtle changes in her posture, the way she carried herself.
"Tutu, can I talk to you for a moment?" Marissa pulled Tina aside, her tone urgent.
The two women exchanged hushed whispers. Tina’s eyes widened as Marissa confirmed her suspicions, her face turning beet red. "No way..." Tina stammered. "You mean...?"
Marissa nodded, her cheeks flushed.
Tina’s reaction was immediate. "Ahh! How could you!" she cried, dramatic as ever. "You’ve already claimed him? That’s so unfair!"
Marissa sighed, trying to calm her friend. "Tutu, please... it’s not like that."
But Tina wasn’t listening. She stormed out of the hall, muttering incoherently. Marissa turned back to Luke, her expression apologetic.
Luke merely shrugged. "She’ll get over it. Besides, not everyone can handle our... arrangement." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
In the following days, the group settled into a rented house near Pearl Academy. Marissa focused on mastering her summoning system, determined to form her contract with Luke. Meanwhile, Luke and Zoe explored the bustling streets of the Demon Capital, soaking in its unique atmosphere.
Life seemed to settle into a routine—until one night, just a week before classes began. As Luke prepared to sleep, a small hand pushed open his window.
Moments later, two very familiar treasures slipped through the opening, followed by Tina’s mischievous grin.
"Long time no see," she said, her voice teasing.
Luke groaned, realizing sleep would have to wait.
The open window startled Luke, but it was the figure slipping through it that truly captured his attention.
"An assassin?" he muttered under his breath.
As the figure’s delicate hands gripped the windowsill, Luke’s sharp eyes noticed something even more astonishing—a familiar silhouette.
