Beastmen: She Tames the Land-Chapter 99: The recipe for purification
While the others were talking, Visha was thinking about how to get rid of the glow-leech. She didn’t know where to start. She wasn’t able to access the complete mall, so she didn’t have access to many things again.
The only thing she could think of that might be able to help her now is the knowledge shard she had. She could only hope it would be able to give her some useful information. If not specifically about how to deal with them, it would point her in the right direction.
She took out the knowledge shard from the space under the cover of her pouch. She used her priestess power to access the shard. What it gave her was exactly what she needed. It didn’t just give her the ingredients for water purification; it told her exactly what to do with them.
She noticed that one of the ingredients was actually the flare crystal.
Visha couldn’t help exclaiming to herself. How could she have forgotten the flare crystal? It can be used to purify. She rolled her eyes silently. She didn’t even remember the resources she already had.
Either way, the recipe was a useful thing to have. She didn’t need to spend multiple days thinking about how to fix the problem. She now felt the once useless knowledge shard was actually useful.
"I think I have a way to help," Visha said.
She hadn’t noticed everyone was looking at the glow-leech in Xeno’s hand. She only noticed every head turned in her direction as if controlled by a hive mind. She was momentarily shocked until she saw the worm between Xeno’s fingers.
He threw it back into the water as he saw her looking.
Mira was the one who spoke up. "Do you have a way to help us?"
Visha looked from Uri to Xeno. She saw Xeno’s innocent smile and knew she missed something. Uri shook his head to indicate they would talk about it later.
She cleared her throat, "I happen to have a recipe that will be able to help us. It won’t hurt the fish and will get rid of the worms at the same time."
The otter males and females let out a sudden cheer that caught Visha off guard. Then again, she would also cheer if her food source could be saved.
She explained the kind of creatures they were and also told them about what she would make. "The recipe is simple, but the ingredients have to be precise." On her fingers, she counted, "We need the crushed petals of the Sun-Orchid. We need the juice of skyberry. We also need tangle-root pulp, we also need high-altitude spring water, and finally, we also need flare crystals."
"Flare crystals?" Xeno exclaimed.
Visha nodded. She smiled, seeing the shock on Xeno’s face. She was glad she wasn’t the only one who hadn’t thought of the flare crystals.
Mira noted the name of the crystal. She had never heard of this kind of crystal before. To her credit, she thought it might be the name the Warm Pack had given the crystal when they found it.
"May I know what this flare crystal is?" Mira asked.
Visha reached into her pouch, taking out the almost transparent stone. Mira looked at it but couldn’t find anything special about it.
Turning to Xeno, Visha asked, "Would you like to do the honours?"
Xeno grinned and took the crystal from Visha. He pointed to a tree that was nearby. "Don’t look directly at the tree," he warned. Then he threw the flare crystal.
The blinding light that came surprised the otter beastmen and females. A sound of shock rang through their group. Mira’s eyes were locked on the spot. She observed the spot the crystal hit. It didn’t damage the tree; it only gave off the light from the impact. She had the thought to trade with their pack for some of the crystals, as it would be of use to their clan.
She decided to wait until the issue is resolved before asking about the crystal.
"We have the sun-orchids. We also have tangle-root. As for the skyberries, we do not have them. The high-altitude spring...there is one half day’s journey from here." Mira said.
"I have the berries, you don’t need to worry. So all we need now is the water," Visha said.
"Kaelen and I will go," Xeno offered. "You and Uri stay and deal with the rest."
Visha nodded. She looked from Kaelen to Xeno. "Do you need the basket?"
"Basket?" Xeno asked.
She nodded. "The basket you had me ride in last time. Don’t you need it?"
A snort came from Kaelen as he heard Visha speak. Uri, beside her, smiled and shook his head. Xeno stiffened when he understood what she was referring to.
Xeno grimaced. "Shasha, I don’t need it. I really don’t need it." He asked Mira for directions and shifted quickly. He nuzzled Visha and motioned for Kaelen to shift before running off in the direction Mira gave.
Visha threw a pouch to Kaelen to hold in his talons. They would use it to collect the water she needed. She scoffed as she saw Xeno running away, but not forgetting to greet her before leaving.
Mira and the other otter males and females looked at the interaction. "Your partner?" she asked.
Visha smiled and nodded, then she pointed to Xeno, "He is also my partner."
She watched the eyes of the otter males and female widened slightly. She noticed they looked at the missing arm. It wasn’t the first time. When they first came, the people they passed would take a look, but no one mentioned it, so they didn’t mention it either.
Visha decided to address it, "I’m aware of what you might think. But he is my mate. There is no changing it. And I wouldn’t change it for anything. Don’t think that because he is missing an arm, it makes him any less of a person." She leaned into Uri as she said it.
Uri’s posture straightened slightly as she talked about him. His eyes softened as they met her gaze.
"I understand," Mira replied. "Let’s make our way back. We need to get the ingredients you need. We hope to solve the problem soon."
