Chapter 181: Chapter 181: I Must Take You Home

The arrival of Blanwen provided a much-needed ally for Lai, who was already struggling to hold his ground.

Esie stood by, observing them battle two enraged Beastmen.

Just as they were about to win, Esie had another ingenious idea.

He injected the last vial of potion into Lai.

"I’ll turn you into one of my kind!" Esie’s eyes flickered with a manic madness, his pupils trembling, seemingly on the verge of exploding from excitement.

Even Esie admitted to himself that he was a madman, an irrational madman.

Blanwen struggled to take down the last Beastman, his face extremely grim...

He feared that Lai would turn into something akin to those two Beastmen; he was already exhausted, and if Lai lost control, Blanwen would surely die at his hands.

Lai was somewhat out of control, but not entirely mindless; his bloodthirsty desire was peaking, wanting to tear everything apart.

He looked at Blanwen, kneeling cautiously on the ground, heavily injured. The blood on Blanwen’s body constantly provoked him.

Lai didn’t direct his wrath at Blanwen, but instead turned and aimed his fists at Esie!

"I will never become a madman like you in my life!"

Although Lai hadn’t lost his reason, the potion had indeed affected him significantly. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

His murderous intent was heavier than ever before, and at the same time, he was more lucid than ever, his senses sharpened, and his strength greatly increased!

Esie’s counterattack was seemingly in slow motion, easily caught by Lai!

"No! Impossible!" Esie cried incredulously.

Being the direct descendant of the Burles family head, Esie had witnessed these experiments; in this world, no one knew this potion better than he did! No one could resist its effects!

Yet, inexplicably, Lai became the exception...

How could such an exception exist!

"Nothing is impossible!" Lai said, punching Esie repeatedly until his face was bruised and swollen, "Esie, you’ve lost!"

Lai looked into Esie’s wide eyes, gradually regaining his senses.

He searched Esie and found no other potions. Esie had a lesser ace up his sleeve than Lai imagined, and Lai nearly died in that place due to panic.

"Are you alright?" Puslin frowned, "Your injuries... are no lighter than Blanwen’s!"

He could see clearly that there was something wrong with Lai’s state.

Lai didn’t feel that he was severely injured, perhaps due to the effects of the potion and his heightened spirits.

He wasn’t aware of what the potion was, but seeing the other two Beastmen, grotesque and abnormal, he knew it was nothing simple.

"Let’s go first..." Lai frowned, suppressing the restlessness in his heart.

Without an outlet for his force, the malevolence in Lai’s heart could only accumulate, making him very uncomfortable, disliking this feeling of losing control!

"Carry those bodies away, don’t leave them here to pollute the environment." Lai said deeply with closed eyes, "Also, I need to study this potion."

He needed to resolve the potion’s effects on himself.

He didn’t want to someday turn into a mindless madman, into a Beastman akin to the Fallen Species.

"Understood."

Puslin still felt uneasy about Lai and asked again, "Are you sure you’re alright now?"

"I won’t die!" Lai walked forward with a hint of impatience on his face.

Puslin picked up the injured, unconscious Blanwen and walked out.

Guan Heng sent signals for people to come and carry away the corpses and clean up the scene.

Blanwen’s people had recovered and, seeing the heavily injured Blanwen, quickly moved him from Puslin’s back, "We’ll take it from here!"

They all left together and boarded the vehicle.

Lai sat on one side, the gloom in his eyes not yet dissipated.

"I’m not going home, take me to my lab," Lai instructed Puslin, who was driving.

Puslin ignored him and drove directly toward home.

"Puslin!" Lai glared at him, "I’m in no condition to see my wife! Drop me off, now!"

Puslin glanced at Lai through the rearview mirror, "True, you look as thin as a twig, you might scare Manman."

Since Lai went missing these past months, he had become much thinner, his cheeks slightly sunken in.

Puslin thought that after the downfall of the Burles family, one reason Lai hadn’t returned home might have been to recuperate; when he first escaped from it, he was likely even thinner.

Tsk, always taking matters into his own hands. As wife’s Beast Husbands, they are a family, united outwardly. Can’t they discuss things together? Must they recklessly take risks, disregarding their lives?

Spoiled as he is!

"But forget about it, today I must take you back home."

If he didn’t, Puslin himself couldn’t rest easy.

Lai’s face darkened, "I don’t even know what kind of potion I took. What if I lose control?"

"Just as well, I’ll be home to watch over you," Puslin said, tossing him a bottle of pills, "These are Heart Cleansing Pills from Manman; take one if you feel like you’re losing your temper."

There’s no way he’d let Lai go elsewhere.

Who knows what could happen in the lab? What if he died there?

If the wife sought to blame Puslin for letting Lai run wild, she might not show him a good face for months.

As for whether she’d scold Lai, that had nothing to do with him.

Quite convenient, if she scolded Lai, she couldn’t scold him, right?

"You..." Lai fumed, glaring out of the window.

As the surroundings grew more familiar, Lai felt an unsettling sense of panic inside.

He rubbed his face, opened the pill bottle, and took a Heart Cleansing Pill.

Soon, the urge to unleash havoc subsided considerably in his heart.

It seemed effective.

Regrettably, he had only half-studied the Heart Cleansing Pill before landing in the Burles family. In the future, he had to research it quickly, he couldn’t rely on Manman providing it for him.

"We’ve arrived, get out," Puslin looked at him sideways.

"The wife has already given birth, watch your words, don’t upset her."

Lai lowered his gaze.

"I know."

He’s a doctor, how could he not know?

No matter how the wife would scold him later, he wouldn’t retort a single word.

Liang Siji saw them all return safely and sighed in relief, "It’s good that you’re back!"

"Where’s the wife?" Puslin asked.

"Resting."

"Fourth Dad, you’re back?" Yu Manman walked out, pausing at the sight of Lai, "Fourth Dad, you’ve slimmed down."

There was a complex scent about him.

Seemed somewhat unusual...

"Fourth Dad, are you alright?" Yu Manman asked worriedly, pondering if any rewards from the system could help Fourth Dad.

"Don’t worry, Manman, I’m fine." Lai looked up, suddenly meeting Yu Man’s eyes.

"Wife, why are you up?" Liang Siji hurriedly ran over to support Yu Man.
