Chapter 168: Chapter 168: Rudolph

"Lai..."

Freya looked at the albino tiger whale in the pool and cautiously called out to him.

"Are you... how are you?" Freya looked at the blood stains on the albino tiger whale.

The albino tiger whale didn’t open its eyes, just opened its mouth as usual.

Freya then poured a dose of medicine for him.

It was wound medicine; Lai had given Freya the formula and asked her to prepare it herself.

Initially, Freya was unwilling.

If Esie found out, she’d be dead for sure.

She’s constantly under mental control now, living like a walking corpse, but she doesn’t want to die; she still wants to live! She wants to see Esie get what’s coming! She wants to see the Burles family collapse in ruins!

But if Freya wasn’t willing to take any risks, why should Lai bear all the risk to collaborate with her?

Besides, Lai knew that Freya surely had people around her too.

"Lai, have you found it yet?" Freya was feeling a bit anxious.

She knew there was a secret hidden in this place.

The Burles family has a secret room here, but they couldn’t access it and didn’t know its exact location.

And Lai was confined here; if only he could find the location, hack the system, and acquire the Burles family’s incriminating evidence, they’d win!

Lai slowly opened his eyes, his voice carrying a hint of hoarseness, "Found it..."

Freya’s eyes revealed a look of delirious joy, "Really? Where is it? Can you open it?"

"No."

Freya instantly felt like she’d been doused with a bucket of cold water, all her excitement disappearing without a trace, and she looked at Lai gloomily, "Aren’t you supposed to be quite skilled?"

Lai looked at her rapid change in demeanor and sneered.

After spending so much time with a madman, this female’s mental state wasn’t much better, only daring to vent hysterically behind one’s back.

Every time Freya came, Lai could almost see the fury churning in her eyes; her body seemed to be covered with a thick layer of filth, exuding a foul, decaying smell.

Just like a flower that’s beginning to rot.

"The equipment you secretly gave me is so trashy; how am I supposed to crack it?" Lai closed his eyes, unwilling to look at her, lest it mar his own eyes, making him think of unpleasant things.

He missed his wife.

And Manman... her eyes were clean, making him want to keep looking at her...

Of course, those were the negative factors he picked up during his imprisonment by Esie; he wouldn’t end up like that lunatic Esie.

He’s not so good that in dreams at midnight, he’d have thoughts of wanting to destroy everything.

But upon opening his eyes to familiar and warm surroundings, thinking of Yu Man and Manman, the hostility in his heart was like night meeting daylight, vanishing.

He’s been held here for some time now.

Missing...

Lai suppressed the hostility in his heart, "Give me the most advanced equipment."

Freya’s face twisted, "Where am I supposed to get that for you? The last one was already quite difficult to acquire!"

After they entered here, the Light Brain was in a malfunctioning state! During the entry process, they’d be checked and scanned; it’s not that easy!

"I believe you can do it, even if you can’t, can’t the people behind you?" Lai said slowly, "I’m not in a hurry; at worst, Esie will keep me locked up forever." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Esie was still thinking of taming him; as long as he didn’t yield, Esie wouldn’t give up on him.

Moreover, according to Esie’s father’s wishes, either cleanly eliminate him and erase traces, or just leave him alone, at least not too harmfully... compared to childhood conditions, it’s already quite good.

Oh, right, because of that old nag commanding around, Esie’s patience with his father had reached a new low. That’s why he’s been secretly urging Esie to seize power...

"I don’t know what you’re talking about!" Freya’s heart jumped.

"Doesn’t matter." Lai spoke lightly, as if carrying a faint smell of death, indifferent to everything.

"But let me tell you, if not done quickly, the Burles family might have a new head soon." Lai chuckled lightly, "That’s when it’s the best time."

Freya pressed her lips; she knew exactly what Lai meant!

She’s not stupid; when Lai was inciting Esie, she was right there!

But she also knew Lai made a valid point...

Freya gritted her teeth, "If new equipment is provided, can you crack the secret room’s program?"

"That’s uncertain." Lai mocked lightly, "But with current equipment, it’s definitely impossible."

Freya’s chest heaved with anger, finally compromising, "Fine! I’ll try and find a way!"

"Then get out." Lai submerged into the water, ignoring Freya.

Freya stamped her foot angrily, turned around, and quickly left; if she stayed any longer, she’d risk being discovered!

Meanwhile, Rudolph hurried back to the company and then went upstairs to the office to meet his sister.

Aijia Flynn sported a neat ear-length short haircut and wore a smart professional outfit.

Her gaze sharp, she looked at her timid brother, "What do you want? Have you signed the contract with Huafeng?"

"Sis... Song Chen from Huafeng changed his mind! The contract was about to be signed, and suddenly he said we need to..." Rudolph suddenly forgot the term, shifting his gaze to the assistant his sister had assigned him.

"Song Chen said we need to give up three percentage points." The assistant quickly supplemented.

Aijia furrowed her brow, not thinking about the percentage points but about Song Chen’s attitude.

"Could it be... he discovered something?" Aijia stared at Rudolph, "You didn’t blab anything, did you?"

Rudolph instantly jumped up, "Sis! How could I! You know me; I might be useless at work, but I’m tight-lipped!"

Aijia retracted her gaze; that was true.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t be comfortable letting Rudolph tag along.

"Then why did he suddenly change his mind?" Aijia’s face turned serious.

This matter shouldn’t have been discovered by anyone!

"Maybe he’s just money-hungry!" Rudolph smirked coldly.

Aijia glanced at him, "If that’s the case, it would be easy to handle."

But is that possible? Based on her investigation, Song Chen isn’t that kind of person.

Aijia paused for a moment and said, "Here, go talk to the people at Huafeng Technology..."

Aijia began instructing Rudolph’s assistant while Rudolph sat relaxed on the side, brazenly watching videos.

She glanced over; they were mostly borderline videos. She looked down on such females the most.

Yet, seeing Rudolph like this, she felt reassured.

Unknown to others, she knew perfectly well.

Rudolph was actually very intelligent as a child, even smarter than her.

If it weren’t for the nearly ten-year age difference, the company’s position today wouldn’t fall to her!

So, from a young age, she began guiding Rudolph toward the path of mediocrity.

And Rudolph turned out as expected, increasingly mediocre, and listened to her well.

Perhaps out of some guilt, she tried to fulfill whatever Rudolph wanted...
