Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 240 - 239: How Many Flowers Will Bloom
Wei Ce also leaned in and said, "Shuo, we Beast Soldiers all have to take turns going out to hunt. This year it’s me and Zhi Le, in the spring it will be Yin Jiang and Gong You, and this time next year it’ll be Xu Chi and Xiao Cheng’s turn!"
Hearing the males suddenly so busy preparing for the rainy season and the cold winter, a sense of anxiety and emptiness welled up inside Si Shuo. "In that case, you all need to focus on your Cultivation and not slack off. Don’t worry about things at home.
When we cook, we’ll make your portions along with ours. Remember to eat well to replenish your energy and stamina. If anything happens, be sure to tell us.
Remember, we’re a family. You all came together for more than just protecting me and having children.
You’re also brothers, sworn to watch each other’s backs. In a life-or-death situation, you can’t stand on ceremony..."
The males exchanged a look, smiling as they nodded firmly. "Don’t worry, kitty. We understand that saying of yours: ’As long as the green mountains stand, we’ll never lack for firewood.’ We’ll prioritize our lives, no matter what."
Wei Ce patted his chest. "Brothers, I’m my Father’s only son; I don’t have any siblings. Now you are all my real brothers. If there’s trouble, just say the word in the space, and have Shuo bring me to save the day!"
Yin Jiang nodded. "Without you all, I wouldn’t be who I am today. If we run into danger, just speak up. We’re a family, and it wouldn’t be whole without any one of you."
They had the highest Combat Levels in the family, serving as its anchors, capable of crushing any plot or scheme with sheer power.
Zhi Le, Xu Chi, and Gong You all nodded, indicating they wouldn’t hesitate.
At this point, Gong You had already activated the five-times Time Rule. Within the confines of the cave, time flowed faster for them than it did outside.
Xu Chi handed the two little ones to Zhi Le and Gong You, then pulled Si Shuo back to the highest level of the cave and set up a Protective Shield.
Si Shuo chewed on a Dust Cleaning Talisman and passed it to him for a bite. The surface dust and sticky sweat on their bodies vanished, leaving them feeling as thoroughly cleansed as if they had just stepped out of a bath. Their skin felt dewy and smooth, and their mouths were fresh and clean.
Xu Chi, ever afraid of troubling others, insisted on looking after the cubs himself whenever he was home, and even took over the cooking.
Wrapping his arms around the young female, he nibbled at her tenderly but dared not take things any further.
Si Shuo smiled, her lips pursed, and whispered in his ear, "Be gentle, Xu Chi. Just don’t startle the cubs in my belly."
Xu Chi’s breath hitched. "A shuo," he said with difficulty, "is... is this really okay?"
The cubs in her womb started reacting to the outside world and forming memories at around one month old. If their Father and Mother were intimate now, it would become their first lesson on procreation.
However, the females’ bodies were delicate, and the males were full of brute strength. Usually, for the sake of both the young female and the cubs in her belly, the males would do nothing more than hold her at night.
"Sometimes, taking it slow and gentle has its own special charm," Si Shuo said as a layer of Spirit Plants manifested and wrapped around her body. These Spirit Plants had not developed Spiritual Sense but were linked directly to her perception. "Xu Chi, try and see how many flowers you can make me bloom..."
He nipped her shoulder in frustration. "A shuo, don’t tease me. I... I can’t take it."
"Then don’t hold back. It’s not just you who misses me; I miss you too... When you come home, you just give me a hug, and then spend all your time with the cubs..." Her pouting words had barely left her lips when Xu Chi silenced them fiercely with his own.
Neither dared to make much noise, their movements gentle and slow, terrified the cubs in her womb would sense something.
This taboo only fueled an indescribable excitement in their hearts. Si Shuo allowed her sensations to manifest through the Spirit Plants. The plants slowly extended their branches, sprouting tender green shoots that then pushed out one flower bud after another.
Xu Chi was the diligent, meticulous gardener, watering and fertilizing this plot of land, waiting for its summer flowers to burst into a brilliant, magnificent bloom...
Waking up when she was ready, Si Shuo opened her eyes to the rare sight of herself still in Xu Chi’s arms. The Time Law enveloping them had slowed their family’s rhythm of life considerably.
After chewing on a Dust Cleaning Talisman, Xu Chi fed her an attributeless crystal stone. He strictly controlled the rich, pure Spiritual Energy, allowing it to nourish her and the cubs in her womb at a pace and intensity she could comfortably handle.
She was free to shape the excess Spiritual Energy however she wished.
Before long, Si Shuo became irritable with hunger. Xu Chi quickly carried her to the main hall for a meal.
The sky outside was still pitch-black, but after the meal, even the two little ones were wide awake and full of energy.
"Why don’t we go clear the land outside?" Gong You suggested. "Let’s go together. We can get a lot of work done within the Time Law, and I can provide light for you all at the same time!"
Si Shuo nodded. "That could work. But first, I need to go through and pick out all the medicinal herbs from the soil."
The family was full of restless people. Once the idea was set, they started with the area below the cave.
Marking out a one-mu plot, Si Shuo identified which plants needed to be collected, which could be cultivated, and which were poisonous and how they should be handled.
She had a knack for summarizing and identifying key characteristics, and the males were attentive students. They quickly cleared the one-mu plot.
The mountain soil was fertile and required no fertilizer. Each year, the fallen leaves and withered plants decomposed, becoming the richest compost.
Back in Beast City, counting Wei Jin’s seventy mu of farmland, they had a total of two hundred and twenty mu for growing corn and vegetables.
However, the weather outside was scorching, preventing many crops from being grown. Here, that wasn’t a concern at all. One hundred mu would be for various grains: Floating Wheat planted far from the water source, and rice planted near it. Another hundred mu would be for cotton, soybeans, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and peanuts. The final hundred mu would be used to grow all sorts of medicinal herbs!
The males put all their superpowers to use. Aside from the slow process of identifying herbs, every other step went by with incredible speed.
Yin Jiang dried the weeds into a fine powder, avoiding the environmental pollution from burning them. A gust of wind from Xu Chi scattered the powder evenly over the soil as nutrients. Wei Ce, with his Earth Element Ability, could deep-plow the fields with a mere flick of his finger.
Gong You could even water the fields in various modes, which he adjusted at Si Shuo’s direction. Zhi Le, meanwhile, handled the delicate task of sowing the seeds.
Si Shuo kept time with her phone, calling for a break every two hours. She’d have them drink some water, eat a snack, and chat while they rested.
In the span of a single night in the outside world, they had spent two full days in the valley and cultivated over twenty mu of land!
When dawn broke, Si Shuo saw the males off to their duties. It was Xu Chi and Yin Jiang’s day off. Xu Chi and Zhi Qi stayed home; one headed to the Martial Arts Hall and the academy, while the other went to Bamboo Forest Mountain and the fields.
Yin Jiang and Zhi Zhan stayed in the valley with Si Shuo and the little ones. They continued sorting out poisonous plants and valuable medicinal herbs, planning to deal with the remaining weeds that evening.
Despite being on duty during the day and coming home to more work at night, not a single one of the males complained about being tired or overworked. They were brimming with energy and simply couldn’t stand being idle.
The looming rainy season and cold winter spurred them on, keeping every one of them as busy as a spinning top.
Having sorted the plants during the day, their farming progress at night was even faster. The five-times time dilation at night meant one of their days was equivalent to three normal days!
