Chapter 233: Chapter 232: Attaboy

This round of the competition eliminated half the Beast Soldiers, with just over six hundred and thirty successfully advancing.

Next came the tests of various attributes. There were speed competitions where they chased each other down, obstacle courses to test their agility, weightlifting to display their strength, punching contests, and more. To advance to the next round, the Beast Soldiers had to pass every event and place in the top one hundred in at least one of them. As Beast Soldiers, they not only needed strong comprehensive abilities, but also a specialty.

Another sixty percent of the Beast Soldiers were eliminated, leaving just over two hundred. These survivors became the defending champions of the arena, randomly drawn to accept challenges from the defeated Beast Soldiers. They had to win three matches in a row to advance; otherwise, they were eliminated!

Winning a single match might involve some luck, but winning three in a row was a true testament to their strength.

The closer they got to the end, the more exciting the competition became. Si Shuo was a whirlwind of activity, running to watch one match, then rushing over to spectate another, all while staying vigilant against any plots from others.

Each of her males was outstanding, giving their all to add another layer of security for their little family. They all successfully made it into the top one hundred, earning the right to challenge the Beast Soldiers of the next level up in the Beast Soldier Camp, so they withdrew from the rest of the competition.

Back home, she could finally let go of the tension she’d been holding. These past few days, Si Shuo had been even more exhausted than the competitors.

She was already dozing off during dinner, but a clawing hunger in her stomach compelled her to continue stuffing a steamed bun into her mouth with her eyes half-closed.

Wei Ce transferred Spiritual Power into her, but it was like a stone sinking into the ocean; it did little to wake the little female up.

Ji Liang frowned slightly. "Hey, don’t you guys think Little Shushu has been eating and sleeping a lot lately, and she gets tired so easily?"

"Her mood swings have been huge, too. One moment she’s so happy she’s practically bouncing, the next she’s on the verge of tears," Zhi Le added.

Gong You had a bad feeling and looked at Xu Chi, who quickly waved his hands in denial. "I’m always extra careful when I’m intimate with A Shuo. Even when she’s not in her Mating Period, I’ve never... I’ve never gone all the way... I still haven’t figured out how to raise Little Ye and Youyou properly..."

And so, all eyes turned to Wei Ce.

Wei Ce’s hand, which was transferring Spiritual Power, paused. He looked at them blankly, then asked with nervous concern, "Shuo isn’t sick, is she?"

Seeing his clueless expression, Yin Jiang narrowed his eyes. "Wei Ce, can’t you sense your own bloodline?"

Wei Ce was completely stunned. He looked at them, then down at the little female in his arms who had fallen back asleep while gnawing on her bun. "I... I’m going to have a cub?"

Xiao Cheng couldn’t take it anymore. He facepalmed. "Brother Wei Ce, can’t you sense for yourself whether or not you have a cub?" ’Does something like this even need to be taught?’

Wei Ce immediately grew solemn and tried to sense it. After a long moment, just as everyone was eagerly awaiting his answer, he shook his head in disappointment. "I can’t feel anything."

"That makes sense. Our kitty just gave birth to Youyou and Little Ye. Her body’s recovered, but she hasn’t entered a Mating Period yet..." As Zhi Le spoke, everyone’s heart clenched. Si Shuo had been recovered for over twenty days, and still no Mating Period!

Gong You gave an exasperated laugh. "So, our girl really *is* pregnant. She probably just conceived, but we have no idea who the father is?"

Zhi Le’s eyes flickered. ’Is it mine?’ Ever since she’d said she wanted to have his cub, he had thrown all caution to the wind and held nothing back whenever they were intimate.

When Si Shuo woke up, before she even opened her eyes, she contentedly nuzzled the male’s chest beside her. "Yin Jiang, good morning!"

Yin Jiang pressed against her hip, letting her feel his morning arousal. Si Shuo shyly wrapped her arms around his neck. She had been so mentally drained lately, always ready to pass out from exhaustion long before bedtime.

She chewed on a Dust Cleaning Talisman, instantly feeling refreshed, and rolled on top of him. "Well then, how about some morning exercise?"

Yin Jiang caught her wandering hand. His breathing was a little heavy, but his expression was uncharacteristically serious. "Shuo’er, have you been feeling unwell at all lately?"

Si Shuo tilted her head, thinking of her recent fatigue, and smiled. "What could be wrong with me? I was probably just too worried about you all. After being so tense, I finally relaxed, and now I’m just feeling the exhaustion, I guess?

"Are you mad that I neglected you last night, Yin Jiang?"

She gave him a kiss, then whispered with a light laugh by his ear, "You know, you could always come to me in my dreams in the middle of the night when I’m half-asleep."

Yin Jiang didn’t have a dream-entering Skill, but he could certainly pull her into a night of passion while she was sound asleep. Wouldn’t that be just like a dream?

He couldn’t resist giving her a pinch. "I’ll have to try that next time! But Shuo’er, don’t you think your Mating Period is unusually late?"

Si Shuo froze, then lay flat on her back and started counting on her fingers. It had been over twenty days since her body had recovered, and she really hadn’t felt any signs of her Mating Period.

’That’s not normal. Has my body not fully recovered?’ Or perhaps... She suddenly remembered that night in the cave with Wei Ce, and the Qing-Sheng Flower...

She abruptly pulled out her botanical encyclopedia and flipped to the entry on the Qing-Sheng Flower. "Perennial... has the miraculous effects of enhancing passion, aiding conception, protecting a pregnancy, and improving aptitude..."

There were further notes on each of these effects: how it could enhance the quality of the male’s sperm, how during intercourse the Qing-Sheng Flower stimulated the mother’s body to prepare for conception, and how it would envelop the cub with the parents’ Spiritual Power to protect it.

This protective effect was so powerful it could completely conceal the cub’s aura, making it undetectable even to its own father. Only when the cub was strong enough would the Qing-Sheng Flower’s Merit be fulfilled and its effect fade away.

’So I’m really pregnant?’ Si Shuo looked down in disbelief, stroking her flat stomach. The realization that she was going to have a little one finally hit her.

She tugged on Yin Jiang’s clothes and, in an uncertain voice, told him about the Qing-Sheng Flower. "The flower’s effects last for at least a month. That means Wei Ce won’t be able to sense them until another seven or eight days from now, when I start to show."

Yin Jiang gritted his teeth. "Well, isn’t Wei Ce just something else!"

Si Shuo felt a pang of guilt. She had known it was a Qing-Sheng Flower and that it aided conception, but her mind had been so fuzzy at the time that she hadn’t read the details. She never imagined it would be so powerful that she could conceive even when she wasn’t in her Mating Period.

Just then, however, an overwhelming wave of hunger washed over her, so intense it made her feel nauseous.

Yin Jiang quickly scooped her up and carried her to the main hall to eat.

Looking at the table laden with food, Si Shuo wanted to eat a little of everything.

"Have a bowl of chicken soup first," Ji Liang said with a smile, handing her a bowl. "Since we’re raising several thousand chickens, ducks, and geese on Bamboo Forest Mountain now, we can use the ones we were raising before. We’ll eat their eggs and make soup to help you build up your strength, Little Shushu."

Si Shuo gulped it down. It was the first time she’d faced all her males, gathered together so early in the morning. She especially couldn’t bring herself to look at Zhi Le as she steeled herself and explained what happened in the valley all over again.

Zhi Le sighed and ruffled her hair. "Kitty, since you’re pregnant, just relax. Eat well, drink well, and get plenty of sleep. Don’t wear yourself out or get upset."

Si Shuo nodded emphatically. ’I’ll have to ask the System later,’ she thought, ’if there’s a form of birth control that’s really effective but has no harmful side effects.’
