Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 219 - 218: We’ll All Listen to You
Replicating the Level 16 attributeless crystal stone caused quite a disturbance. Wei Ce wasn’t by her side to guard her this time, so Si Shuo only did it once before urging Ji Liang to quickly find a new location.
She wasn’t greedy, either. Every day, she would replicate eight attributeless crystal stones once, and for the rest of the time, she would replicate talismans and elixirs. As her Replication Ability improved, the number of items she could replicate each time had also doubled!
By now, many rare flowers and exotic herbs had piled up in the communal planting area of her space. Si Shuo picked them up one by one, cross-referencing their features with an illustrated guide.
Originally, she didn’t hold out much hope. After all, Wei Ce had said the Secret Realm was not in the same time and space as the Beast World Continent. Unexpectedly, all these Spirit Plants could be found in the guide.
Si Shuo quickly wrote down the names, important characteristics, and medicinal properties of the Spirit Plants, placing the notes to one side of the planting area so the males could use them as a reference to gather in large quantities.
Due to the nearly twenty-fold time difference, she dared not delay, keeping her head down and marking everything diligently.
There were a good fifty to sixty types of Spirit Plants and medicinal herbs valuable enough for mass collection. In the Secret Realm, Zhi Le and the others spent seven or eight days completing their training mission, then assigned gathering tasks for the remaining two or three days.
Si Shuo also wrote a note instructing them to collect more seeds so they could later try planting them on the roughly three-hundred-mu plot of land in the valley.
After finishing all this, Si Shuo finally turned, a little weary, and threw herself into Ji Liang’s arms, refusing to move.
Ji Liang kissed her forehead, his heart aching for her. "Little Shushu, you should rest when you’re tired. You don’t have to push yourself so hard. Aren’t we here for you?"
Si Shuo poked his heart in annoyance. They say to strike a snake, you hit its weak spot—its heart. "Why am I so tired? I wonder if a certain someone has any idea."
’No wonder Female Saints have so many males around them,’ she thought. ’Ordinary females want that too, but without superpowers, their bodies can’t handle the males’ passion. Even if they’re fed Crystal Stones, they can’t properly absorb and use them to temper their bodies.’
That spot on Ji Liang was especially vulnerable and sensitive. She had barely touched it, yet he held her and let out a muffled grunt. He nipped her shoulder in mock annoyance, not daring to use any real force. He kept his venomous fangs retracted, leaving only two very faint rows of teeth marks.
He was a venomous snake, his poison growing more potent as his Level increased. If he ever broke his little female’s skin, she’d be off playing chess and drinking tea with the Beast God in less than seven breaths!
"On the contrary, I think I just haven’t been trying hard enough, since you still have the energy to think about all this."
As he spoke, Ji Liang swept her up into his arms and teleported back to the camp in a series of short jumps. They hadn’t returned early; a hazy, purple-ringed moon was already high in the sky.
Si Shuo had successfully worked up an appetite again and began listing off the things she wanted to eat while nestled in his arms.
But as they neared the camp, she heard extremely embarrassing sounds coming from half of the tents. Her body stiffened slightly, and she buried her head in his chest, feeling both mortified and a spark of accursed, instinctive curiosity.
Seeing his little female perk up her ears and stay still, Ji Liang laughed in exasperation. He cast a Protective Shield to block out the noise from outside, then carried her into their tent and tossed her onto the Beast Skins. "Little Shushu, are you that curious about other people’s private moments?"
Si Shuo hurriedly pressed one hand against his chest and clutched his clothes with the other, saying pitifully, "You’ve already gnawed all the skin off me."
Ji Liang laughed and gave her a hard kiss. "Don’t worry, I won’t make a move on you tonight. I just want to hold you and talk. Weren’t you hungry? What do you want to eat?"
A day on the Beast World Continent was incredibly long, and everyone generally ate three or four meals. Si Shuo didn’t stick to a schedule; apart from the evening meal with the males of her household, she ate whenever she was hungry—or was simply eating all the time.
Smiling, Si Shuo took out a plate of double-skin milk pudding drizzled with honey and topped with dried berries and fruit chunks, two hearty servings of beef fried rice, plus some grilled meat skewers and roasted bird eggs!
As she ate a roasted bird egg, she said with a laugh, "Once the chickens, ducks, and geese on Bamboo Forest Mountain to the west start laying eggs, we can paint them and play an egg-tapping game."
However, she changed the subject, still asking curiously, "Ji Liang, do... do they not put up a Protective Shield when they’re being intimate?"
Back when they were in Dongye Middle Square, the tents in the camp were packed so closely together, yet she had never heard so many dissonant, coarse, and vulgar sounds.
Ji Liang shot her a glance. "There were noises like that before, but we always blocked them for you ahead of time so they wouldn’t pollute your ears. We don’t have a fetish for being overheard or for listening in on others’ private moments.
A male is more or less mindful when with his own female, but this is a trader caravan. The females being led into the tents are all from the female caves.
You don’t understand how despicable those males can be, Little Shushu.
They want people to hear the racket they’re making; it becomes a point of pride for them to brag about. Some, who are less scrupulous and have no self-control, might even... bring multiple partners into a tent at once..."
Si Shuo was frozen in place by what she heard. A lingering fear washed over her. ’If Zhi Le hadn’t taken me back to his cave back then, wouldn’t I have been passed around like a toy, too?’
’Extreme darkness exists everywhere,’ she thought. ’I just don’t want to think about it, and I don’t dare to.’
Ji Liang pulled her into a tight embrace, stroking her back. How could he not see the fear in her eyes? "Don’t be afraid, Little Shushu. You have us, don’t you? It’s all in the past. I’m telling you these things not just to satisfy your curiosity, but also to make you understand how dark the outside world is. We can never let our guard down, no matter when.
Life in a Beast City is certainly comfortable, but it also makes it easy for people to gradually forget their survival skills and their sense for danger, to be fooled by the illusion of safety before them."
"So, your work as a trader is a way to keep yourself vigilant and continue to hone your skills?" Si Shuo asked, her voice muffled as she hugged him.
"That’s one consideration. Besides, strength improves fastest in adversity. Little Shushu, we are all protecting you and our little family in our own ways. All you need to do is be happy with the cubs and spare a little thought for us; that’s enough. Don’t overthink things, hmm? And you’re not allowed to tire yourself out," Ji Liang said, smiling as he kissed her forehead.
Si Shuo nodded. "I’m not tired. Everyone is working so hard, and I don’t want to be a burden to any of you. Besides, if I did nothing, I’d become dull and listless.
I like this feeling of being busy, of striving alongside all of you. Plus, I have this superpower; not using it every day would be a waste. I also know how to be prepared for danger even in times of peace!"
’She had too many people she needed to protect. Stockpiling more resources was never a bad idea; they could be immensely useful at a critical moment.’
Ji Liang ruffled her hair. "Alright, alright. Little Shushu has her own strong opinions. You’re the head of this family; we all listen to you."
Si Shuo smiled, her lips pressed together, and couldn’t help but throw herself into his arms again. "I love my Big Snake Beast so much!"
Ji Liang held her, the corners of his lips curling up, his golden eyes filled with tenderness. "Mm, and I love my little female."
These past few days, Si Shuo’s life fell into a very regular pattern: writing on Metal Strips, drawing talismans, materializing Spirit Plants, eating delicious food, teasing the cubs, and being playfully affectionate with the males of her household. Every night, she would go to Ji Liang’s to replicate Crystal Stones.
