Year 4, Outdoor Exploration Department, Class 2.

In the tiered classroom, everyone was discussing the team formations for the upcoming field expedition.

The Outdoor Exploration major is a comprehensive discipline focused on adventure, covering wilderness survival skills, geological surveys, ecological environments, wild pet beast behaviors, and more.

The major emphasizes practical experience, and students are regularly required to conduct field investigations to enhance their problem-solving abilities.

However, since the wild is extremely dangerous, students in this major almost always team up for deeper exploration.

These team-ups aren’t limited to students from their own department but extend across the entire Yulianton University.

Among them, students from the Beast Taming, Breeding, and Pet Beast Medical departments are the most welcomed.

“I invited a junior from the Pet Beast Medical department this time. She has a Healing Makaka. It's a great pet, but unfortunately a bit expensive, it’ll cost me 30 credits for this trip.”

“30 credits? She might as well be robbing people! Honestly, don’t specifically look for people from that department. Last time, I invited a guy from the Pet Beast Logic department, he also had a healing-type pet, and it was way cheaper.”

“Well, I’d still rather pay more for safety.”

In the front row, a guy with an afro overheard the conversation and turned to the brown-haired, blue-eyed guy next to him, asking, “Charles, how’s your team coming along?”

Charles sighed.

“I had it set. A senior girl from the Breeding department and a fifth-year senior from the Beast Taming department. But yesterday, that senior suddenly said he couldn’t make it due to other commitments.”

The afro-haired guy asked curiously, “Is it the same guy you teamed up with last semester?”

Charles nodded.

“Yeah, it’s him.”

After a pause, he added, “Apparently there’s a monster freshman in the Beast Taming department this year. Moved into the Special Zone right after enrolling. That senior got a battle challenge from her and accepted it. So now he’s busy preparing for that and can’t go exploring with me.”

The afro guy couldn’t help but ask, “You mean the one who fought the entire Beast Taming department alone during the entrance exams?”

The Beast Taming department is one of the largest at Yulianton University and is always under the spotlight. Even students from other departments heard the news.

“That’s her.” Charles confirmed.

He had friends in the Beast Taming department and had been hearing about this monster girl’s feats for days.

“One person fighting that many Beast Tamers… no wonder she was placed in the Special Zone from day one.” The afro-haired guy sighed in amazement.

As he spoke, he pulled out his phone and opened a video that had gone viral across campus group chats.

It was footage from the Beast Taming entrance exam battles.

The angle was from below. A black-haired girl with a ponytail stood on the rooftop, gazing down with an air of disdain, as if declaring: You’re all ants to me.

Various pet beasts attempted to approach her using different skills, but none could make her move even a single step.

The afro guy was watching with great interest when a crisp voice suddenly rang out: “Excuse me, is Charles Coppola here?”

Charles looked up and saw a black-haired girl at the door, someone he didn’t recognize.

He hesitated but stood up to head out. His deskmate, however, didn’t move to let him pass and was instead staring blankly at the door.

“Can you move?” Charles reminded him.

The afro-haired guy snapped back to reality and whispered excitedly, “Oh my god, I think that’s the monster freshman we were just talking about!”

Charles: ?!!

In the hallway.

Qiao Sang got straight to the point: “Dr. Dosharila referred me. She said you have a Feeling Ghost. I want to rent it for a while. How many credits do you want?”

Charles responded with a question: “Are you a freshman?”

Qiao Sang gave a small nod.

Charles asked again, “Are you Qiao Sang from the Beast Taming department?”

Qiao Sang looked surprised: “You know me?”

So it was her… Charles’s eyes flickered.

“I don’t want credits. I want you to go on the expedition with me in two days.”

He’d heard all about her lately, this girl was a monster-level student with two General-level pet beasts.

Two General-level beasts. Most seniors couldn’t even reach that level with one.

If she joined his team, his safety rating would skyrocket.

Qiao Sang paused, then politely declined: “I still have classes.”

She had just been caught skipping class yesterday. No matter how thick-skinned she was, she couldn’t bring herself to do it again.

But Charles persisted: “Yulianton University promotes mutual assistance. If you get a note stating you were participating in another department’s project, you’ll still earn credits.”

Mutual assistance? Everything needs credit trades… Qiao Sang inwardly grumbled, but outwardly she paused thoughtfully and asked: “How many days?”

Charles’s face lit up.

“Three days. Just three.”

Qiao Sang asked again: “How many days can I borrow your Feeling Ghost?”

Charles thought for a few seconds.

“Half a month. After classes are done, I can lend it to you for half a month.”

Half a month… not bad. If I need it longer, I’ll just trade again. Though Qiao Sang thought this to herself, she still instinctively tried to bargain: “Can I borrow it now?”

Charles answered without hesitation: “If you agree to team up with me.”

Qiao Sang immediately said, “I agree.”

Hearing that, Charles’s eyes lit up. He quickly formed hand signs.

A green star array lit up.

Soon, a nearly dark green, floating pet beast appeared. Its irises were black, and a string of black beads hung around its neck.

12:00 PM, Villa.

“Gannn…”

The Feeling Ghost looked around at its new surroundings in confusion.

“What’s that pet beast?” Liu Yao asked as he brought out some dishes.

“It’s a Feeling Ghost.” Qiao Sang explained briefly, summarizing what Dr. Dosharila had told her.

Liu Yao examined the Feeling Ghost and nodded: “This might actually work.”

He agreed that this method could possibly trigger despair in Ice Xilu, pushing it toward evolution, though he thought Qiao Sang might be jumping the gun.

After all, Ice Xilu’s energy hadn’t reached the required threshold for evolution.

But since Qiao Sang had pulled off so many miracles, he chose not to voice his doubts.

“Lu.”

Lubao, hearing the conversation, swished her tail and called out, motioning for the Feeling Ghost to come over.

“Gannn.”

The Feeling Ghost understood it was now a temp worker and floated over obediently.

“Lu.”

“Lu.”

Lubao, after a full morning of thinking, had figured out the Feeling Ghost’s purpose. With a serious expression, she made her intentions clear: Stay close and immediately swap in any detected despairing emotions.

“Gannn.”

The Feeling Ghost nodded obediently.

“Lu.”

Lubao glanced at the Feeling Ghost and felt hopeful for her evolution. In a great mood, she began munching on the energy pellets Liu Yao had prepared.

1:30 PM.

Little Treasure teleported Qiao Sang, Yabao, and the Feeling Ghost to Beast Taming Department Class 1.

Even the standard lecture halls at Yulianton University could hold 200+ students. Many liked to summon their pet beasts to accompany them.

Although the Feeling Ghost was a high-level pet beast, its one-meter size wasn’t too eye-catching.

But since it came in with Qiao Sang, a campus legend, it immediately drew everyone’s attention.

“Gannn…”

The Feeling Ghost tensed up under the spotlight, floating stiffly at its seat.

“Yap.”

Yabao patted the Feeling Ghost with his paw, telling it not to be nervous, everyone was just staring because he was too cool.

Then he grinned confidently.

“Gannn…”

The Feeling Ghost, sensitive to emotions, knew it wasn’t that, but hesitated to speak up.

Just then, a red-haired girl approached.

The Feeling Ghost immediately shut its mouth.

Dorothy sat beside Qiao Sang and glanced at the Feeling Ghost with curiosity.

“Whose is this?”

Dorothy had previously recommended a mimic doll from the neighboring class, so she and Qiao Sang were on speaking terms now.

“It belongs to a senior from the Outdoor Exploration department.” Qiao Sang replied.

Dorothy didn’t ask further but changed the subject: “You’ve no idea, tons of seniors have been looking for you.”

“Huh?” Qiao Sang was surprised.

“How come I haven’t met any of them?”

Dorothy chuckled: “You teleport out every time class ends. Of course you don’t run into them.”

Oh… that’s true. Qiao Sang cleared her throat and asked: “What do they want?”

“Of course it’s about battle challenges.” Came a voice from the front row, a blond guy with a buzzcut.

He turned around with a slightly resentful gaze.

Though Qiao Sang hadn’t interacted much with her classmates, her photographic memory had recorded all their faces.

This guy wasn’t one of them, she realized that instantly.

Dorothy recognized him and whispered: “He’s a senior from the Beast Taming department. Not sure what year, but he came looking for you before.”

So it was about battles… Qiao Sang said, “I still have class. I don’t have time right now.”

The blond guy suddenly introduced himself: “I’m Hadro Turing, 5th year, Class 3, Beast Taming department.”

Then he added seriously: “You already accepted my battle challenge. I’m here to ask if you could put me first.”

Fifth-year… Qiao Sang paused, then checked her phone for the time and nodded: “Sure, wait until class ends.”

Hadro was happy at first, but then hesitated: “There’s only 15 minutes between classes. Isn’t that too short?”

“No,” Qiao Sang smiled faintly.

“It’s enough.”

Dorothy, listening in, quietly opened her phone and typed in the group chat:

[BREAKING NEWS! Qiao Sang will battle a 5th-year senior right after class!]
