Beast Taming: Starting From Zero-Chapter 665: Hidden Resentment
"Where did you get that outfit?" Qiao Sang asked with a smile, though she silently muttered to herself: Good grief, if I hadn’t been sharp-eyed, I would’ve walked right into that trap…
She had a general understanding of the competition rules and knew interference or combat with opponents was allowed. But she hadn’t expected her first encounter to try this trick right out of the gate.
Luckily, she’d had some interaction with her backstage earlier. Otherwise, this method might have actually made her go to a different location.
"I prepared it before the competition." The woman put her mask back on and lowered her voice, then added in a tone of approval:
"Didn’t expect this to be your first time in this kind of competition, yet you already know to come to a place like this."
"The hospital isn’t that hard to guess, right?" Qiao Sang replied modestly.
"The hospital isn’t hard to guess, but most people go to the one closest to the Augustwood Arena." The woman finished her sentence just as the fabric at her shoulder was seemingly poked by something, causing a dent.
Although contestant No.113 was technically her opponent, her age and her pet's size clearly posed no threat. The woman didn't intend to waste any more time on her. She paused and said:
"I won’t chat with you any longer. Hope you get a decent result."
With that, she turned and left.
Qiao Sang watched her back for a moment and then said:
"Let’s go too."
"Xun xun~"
Little Treasure chirped, then continued sniffing around with his nose.
In the next twenty minutes, Little Treasure successfully absorbed negative emotional energy from dozens of hospital staff. Then, as if he had caught a scent of something extraordinary, his eyes lit up and he floated purposefully in one direction.
Qiao Sang followed him to the basement level, arriving in a rarely-used area.
The air around them was cold.
Each breath brought a hint of damp rot.
Qiao Sang glanced around, seeing not a soul in sight, and suddenly got a bad feeling.
She vaguely remembered reading somewhere that hospital morgues are usually built on basement levels or near underground parking...
No way… Qiao Sang’s heart started to race, though she kept a calm expression and said:
"Little Treasure, maybe we should go somewhere else. Doesn't seem like anyone's here."
"Xun xun~"
Little Treasure pointed toward a hallway, there was negative energy there.
Tap, tap, tap, tap… Just as Qiao Sang was about to speak again, a series of footsteps echoed from the darkness.
She jolted and whipped her head toward the source.

Meanwhile.
Augustwood Tournament Institute.
Watching a live feed showing the hospital hallway, the audience began murmuring.
"This ghost-type pet has sharp senses, it can actually smell something from the third floor all the way to the basement."
"This is the moment I’ve been waiting for, the morgue!"
"What’s so great about a morgue? Even if there are ghosts, only ghost-types can see them."
"Stop it, you're scaring me..."
"Same here..."
"Negative energy doesn’t necessarily come from living people's emotions. Resentment from the dead is also a kind of negative energy. That ghost-type pet sensing negativity here probably means some of those people died unnatural deaths. It’s normal, nothing to be afraid of."
"Sounds like footsteps. Is it a hospital worker?"
"Look at the upper-right corner feed, it’s contestant No.98."

General Hospital.
Basement Level.
"You again?" Qiao Sang looked at the new arrival and quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Surprise flashed in the woman’s eyes. Then, seeming to realize something, she glanced at Little Treasure and said:
"Your ghost-type pet’s energy detection is pretty sharp."
"Xun xun~"
Pleased by the compliment, Little Treasure smirked as if to say it was nothing.
So there was negative energy here… Qiao Sang couldn’t help but glance subtly toward the end of the hallway.
The woman said:
"Since we’ve both found the morgue, let’s see who absorbs more energy."
She walked toward the morgue after speaking.
So it really is the morgue… Qiao Sang twitched at the corner of her mouth, took a deep breath, and nodded at Little Treasure.
"Xun xun~"
Little Treasure immediately understood his tamer’s meaning.
His eyes glowed blue.

The next second, he vanished from the spot.
Having spatial shift is so nice… Qiao Sang hurried after No.98 and shouted:
"Wait for me!"
The woman stopped at the morgue entrance. Noticing the small ghost-type pet had vanished, she asked, "Where is your ghost pet?"
Obviously already inside absorbing negative energy… Qiao Sang calmly replied, "It’s gone invisible."
The woman didn’t suspect anything and smiled:
"Then I’ll go in first."
Just as she spoke, a smoke-gray, shadowy creature with a smoking collar appeared.
Without a word, it twisted its form and spread like gray mist, wrapping around the woman.
Then it slipped through the morgue doors with no resistance.
Seconds later, Qiao Sang heard the woman inside curse in English.
Looks like Little Treasure was already absorbing a lot of negative energy… She was just thinking that when BANG! the morgue door was blown open by some force.
The woman was flung out, crashing into the far wall with such force that the entire wall shook.
What the hell?! Qiao Sang was stunned by the sudden outburst.
The woman gritted her teeth against the pain and screamed:
"Run! There's a wild Hidden Resentment Yudo in there!"
Hidden Resentment Yudo? Qiao Sang froze for a moment.
Just then, the corridor lights went out, and an icy chill descended.
She suddenly felt a gust of wind heading straight toward her.
But in the next second, everything went black. When the light returned, she found herself already outside the hallway.
It was Little Treasure’s spatial shift… Qiao Sang realized, then turned around and sure enough, there was Little Treasure.
"Xun xun!"
Little Treasure stood with a serious expression, staring toward the hallway.
Qiao Sang followed his gaze.
Contestant No.98 was now slumped against the wall, eyes wide with shock as she stared at Qiao Sang.
"Save her!" Qiao Sang ordered without hesitation.
She didn’t know much about Hidden Resentment Yudo, but the fact that it attacked humans was enough to mark it as a dangerous pet!
"Xun xun!"
Little Treasure let out a cry, his eyes glowing blue again.
The woman reappeared beside Qiao Sang.
She sat on the floor, mouth agape, stunned.
Spatial Shift?
Was that spatial shift?!
Someone please tell her why a ghost-type pet was using a high-level psychic-type skill?!
Then, as if recalling something, she snapped out of it and shouted:
"Let’s go, now!"
Just then, a little girl appeared at the end of the hallway, lips purple, face deathly pale, wearing a bloodstained white dress, looking no older than five.
She stared at them blankly, expressionless.
Qiao Sang stiffened and asked with difficulty:
"That... is Hidden Resentment Yudo?"
"Yes." The woman struggled to her feet, about to explain the earlier situation-
When a mischievous mechanical voice cut in:
"Don’t be hasty, let me check… Hidden Resentment Yudo, ghost-type, General-class pet. Currently in possession mode. Said to see spirits, helps the dead fulfill wishes, at the cost of their soul. The more resentment, the more it likes them. But it does fulfill their wishes first, so it’s quite principled. A strong one indeed, but Master, I believe it’s no match for you. Go get it!"
The woman: …
Qiao Sang: …
"Xun xun…"
Little Treasure stared seriously at the girl, quietly putting away the pet identifier.

Augustwood Tournament Institute.
Nearly every audience member had their eyes on one specific live feed.
The scene went quiet for a moment, then erupted in chaos.
"Oh my god! Hidden Resentment Yudo! This hospital actually has a Hidden Resentment Yudo! That little girl must’ve died horribly!"
Anyone possessed by one of those had always died terribly. No exceptions.
"This is gonna be big news!"
"Holy crap! That ghost pet knows spatial shift?!"
"What kind of pet identifier is that? So chaotic!"
"Call the authorities! Where there’s a Hidden Resentment Yudo, there’s injustice!"
"This is my first time seeing one. Totally worth the ticket price!"
Just then, one viewer stared at the screen showing the girl in the white dress, pupils shrinking, gulped, and hoarsely said:
"Remember the man who was crying earlier? That’s his daughter."
