Chapter 1101: Chapter 843: Regional Competition (Two in One)
Mikaela glanced at the time on her wristwatch and said:
"Alright, but you don’t need to specially head to the Breeding Academy, I’ll call a professor over from there."
Qiao Sang felt a bit dazed upon hearing this.
Why did it sound as though professors from the Breeding Academy were here just to serve her...
While she was thinking about this, Mikaela had already sent off a message.
She put down her phone and said:
"Just wait here; they’ll send someone over quickly. I need to head home to sort some things out. We’ll meet directly at the airport to save time. I’ll send you the flight time shortly."
"Alright." Qiao Sang nodded.
Mikaela waved her hand and retrieved the Fate Spirit back into the Beast Taming Codex, then turned and walked out of the hall.
This professor was really tightly scheduled; she sure seemed like someone who disliked wasting time... Qiao Sang thought to herself.
"Xun Xun~"
Once Mikaela left, Little Treasure Hunter immediately detached its circular ring, stretched its paw inside, and started rummaging through it.
"What are you looking for?" Qiao Sang asked.
"Xun Xun~"
Little Treasure Hunter gestured with its paw and then pointed at its own hair.
Qiao Sang’s lips twitched slightly: "Are you trying to find a hair accessory like the Fate Spirit’s?"
"Xun Xun~"
Little Treasure Hunter nodded affirmatively.
As soon as the words left her mouth, its eyes lit up as though it had found something.
Soon after, Little Treasure Hunter pulled out a purple-grape hair accessory from the circular ring and cheerfully clipped it onto its golden hair.
Back when her Unlimited Card nearly ran out, Qiao Sang had scavenged through Chao Su Star, sweeping up pretty much every luxury item she could find—random, various functionless trinkets galore.
This hair accessory was one of them.
"It suits you quite well." Qiao Sang praised.
"Xun Xun~"
Little Treasure Hunter happily floated around in a circle before pulling out a mirror from the circular ring to admire itself.
Suddenly, a voice echoed from the doorway:
"Student Qiao Sang?"
Qiao Sang followed the voice and saw an older middle-aged man, his sharp facial features suggesting he might be of mixed descent, along with a Pet Beast almost entirely pitch-black. Its head resembled a burglar’s hood and it carried a 20-inch suitcase in one paw.
The Stealth Saurian—a dual-type King-level Pet Beast of the Evil and Poison Series—was notorious for its penchant for stealing at night, earning a reputation similar to a Treasure-seeking Ghost.
The difference was that the Treasure-seeking Ghost’s bad reputation often rubbed off on its Beast Tamer, thanks to its circular ring. Among those who made contracts with it, eight out of ten generally had nefarious intentions.
On the other hand, the Stealth Saurian’s reputation was entirely its own doing.
Who would have thought that a professor from the Imperial Beastmaster Academy would contract such a notorious Pet Beast... Qiao Sang mused inwardly.
It’d be dishonest to say she didn’t care about Pet Beast reputations.
If not for being cornered by unexpected circumstances and discovering Little Treasure Hunter’s unique traits by chance, she would never have considered contracting it.
Even the Little Steel Falcon species was brushed aside by so many due to its reputation.
From what she’d seen at Yuliandun University, nearly all the Pet Beasts had stellar reputations.
"You’re from the Breeding Academy, right?" Qiao Sang knowingly asked.
This place was clearly off-limits to outsiders. At this time of day, combined with the man’s age, demeanor, and his precise call out of her name, the only reasonable conclusion was that he was the professor from the Breeding Academy specifically sent to "serve" her.
"Indeed." The middle-aged man smiled and nodded. "Professor Mikaela asked me to help check the condition of some of your Pet Beasts and prepare Energy Pills."
As he spoke, he stepped closer, carefully observing Yaobao and the others, and remarked:
"I’ve heard people mention you. Your Pet Beasts truly are rare."
The Imperial Beastmaster Academy never lacked rare Pet Beasts, yet even among rarities, there are distinctions.
Rare Pet Beasts acquired with money or manpower might draw a couple of extra glances and serve as a status symbol; but to experts accustomed to seeing rare creatures, they weren’t all that impressive.
The Beasts in front of him were different.
Besides the uniquely-colored Ghost Ring King, the near-extinct Bing’ai Palu—only top-tier individuals who had contributed to the field of endangered Pet Beasts could possibly contract these species.
As for the other two, entirely self-cultivated and nurtured along completely novel evolution pathways, each one was of a caliber significant enough to be immortalized in the Alliance’s historical annals.
After all, the first person to cultivate a new species of Pet Beast would have the privilege of naming its entire line.
Any future evolutions of that species would inherit the same name.
Qiao Sang, accustomed to hearing praise, smiled lightly without replying.
The middle-aged man continued:
"Though I haven’t studied these species much before, that’s alright. The Energy Pills for the Flame Kiru and Gangzhan Giant Falcon might take some extra effort, but I already have data on Bing’ai Palu and Ghost Ring King."
