Beast Taming: Sharing Pets' Abilities-Chapter 391 - 390: Library Pavilion
The Cang Family is in complete panic now.
The current Cang Family is not what it used to be. With the Ancestor’s passing and the few Golden Core Great Cultivators being the family’s treasures, any unexpected event could cause the immediate decline of the Cang Family.
That’s why, a few days ago, the Cang Family sent disciples to seek help.
The reason Gu Yuan took on this mission was because there were some traces to follow, and at least the strange occurrences were happening on Cang Family’s territory.
The task was to investigate and resolve the matter.
To put it plainly, this mission was relatively simpler and perhaps safer.
Gu Yuan is not a masochist. If there are simple tasks to choose from, he will, of course, choose the simplest one.
Of course, even though it seemed simple, no one actually knew how dangerous this mission could be.
But since he had accepted this task, Gu Yuan decided not to think about it too much.
He took the attitude that when the vehicle reached the mountain, there would be a road; when the boat reached the bridge, it would straighten out. Once he arrived at the Cang Family, he would naturally uncover the details of the matter.
But before undertaking the mission, there were still some things he needed to do.
For instance, informing He Ling True Master and claiming the benefits entitled to him as an Inner Sect Disciple, lest when he returned next time as a True Disciple, those benefits might no longer be available.
Though Gu Yuan wasn’t particularly concerned about these things, he saw no reason to show that he didn’t care about Spirit Stones, Daoist Scriptures, or Spirit Pills.
The next day, Gu Yuan personally went to He Ling True Master’s cave mansion to inform him.
Learning that Gu Yuan was preparing to advance to the status of True Disciple, He Ling True Master was quite supportive and reminded him to be careful.
Afterward, Gu Yuan headed straight to the Library Pavilion.
Inside Medicine King Mountain’s Library Pavilion are collections of various books, Cultivation Daoist Scriptures, Alchemy and Artifact Refining texts, as well as tales of strange events, histories, and travel notes.
The most precious among them are the Cultivation Daoist Scriptures and secret texts involving non-conventional arts like Alchemy Dao, Artifact Dao, Array, and Puppet.
The Library Pavilion has five levels, appearing as a pagoda from the outside.
The first level contains the least valuable books, accessible to servant disciples, Outer Disciples, Inner Sect, and True Disciples, with time restrictions for servant and outer disciples.
Even so, it still houses many good items, such as some Martial Arts Techniques, which in the mundane world would be highly sought after.
The books on the second level are significantly more valuable.
Only stewards or those above Inner Sect Disciple status are allowed to enter.
This level includes some decent Celestial Human Realm Cultivation Daoist Scriptures and various external texts.
Even Inner Sect Disciples typically have only two opportunities to enter.
As for the third level, only True Disciples or those above elder status are qualified to enter, or Inner Sect Disciples who have made outstanding contributions.
Given Gu Yuan’s current status at Medicine King Mountain, he could enter the second level of the Library Pavilion.
However, as an Inner Sect Disciple, he does enjoy some benefits.
He can enter the second level of the Library Pavilion to select two Daoist Scriptures or other text and book collections.
This is an inherent benefit for being an Inner Sect Disciple.
The Library Pavilion, located not far from Jade Cauldron Mountain, bears the marks of weather’s toll, filled with a sense of historical change.
When Gu Yuan arrived at the Library Pavilion, he saw many people nearby, creating quite a bustling scene.
However, when Gu Yuan arrived, many people’s footsteps subconsciously slowed down, showing looks of surprise, fear, curiosity, or awe.
Gu Yuan, though still an Inner Sect Disciple, had past achievements that made his reputation significantly larger than Li Changsheng’s among many disciples.
After all, Li Changsheng had been the True Inheritor Senior Brother for over twenty years, yet when Gu Yuan first arrived, his astounding achievements made anyone who heard of his past tremble with fear.
With a Celestial Human Realm body, he slew Golden Core Great Cultivators, and not just one or two. Many disciples, when thinking about these deeds, felt both fear and dread!
Many were seeing Gu Yuan for the first time and started whispering to their friends, discussing matters regarding Gu Yuan.
Gu Yuan was accustomed to these varied gazes and paid them no mind as he directly entered the Library Pavilion.
"Junior Brother Gu..."
But at that moment, someone called out to Gu Yuan. From the voice, it was a young man.
Gu Yuan followed the voice and saw a young man approaching.
Wherever he passed, other disciples greeted him: "Senior Brother Lu..."
"Greetings, Senior Brother Lu!"
...
This young man was handsome and tall, even taller than Gu Yuan by half a head. Observing all the disciples and stewards greeting him along the way, it was clear he held a high status at Medicine King Mountain.
"So it’s Senior Brother Lu."
Gu Yuan squinted slightly and greeted him with a smile.
The visitor’s name was Lu Qian, one of the nine True Disciples, and one of the only two True Disciples from the same sect lineage.
This meant, in a sense, Lu Qian and Gu Yuan were on the same side.
Of course, Gu Yuan was skeptical about this point.
At Medicine King Mountain, apart from trusting his master He Ling True Master, and yes, Ancestor Danxia to some extent, as well as Xia Xiuxue and Niu Youde, he didn’t trust anyone else.
Even if the other party was from the same sect lineage, he felt the same.
But outwardly, Gu Yuan naturally showed no emotion.
"What? Is Junior Brother Gu here to choose some Cultivation Daoist Scriptures from the Library Pavilion today?"
Lu Qian said with a warm smile, his attitude friendly, seemingly with no malice toward Gu Yuan.
But Gu Yuan, with his keen sense, although he didn’t feel malice from Lu Qian, detected that the other was scrutinizing him with a hint of resistance beneath the surface.
Hostility isn’t necessarily malice, but malice is certainly hostility.
Where did this hostility come from?
Gu Yuan pondered internally.
It was his first time meeting Lu Qian today, yet for some unknown reason, the other seemed somewhat hostile, leaving Gu Yuan speechless.
It’s no wonder family factions are strong, with only a few figures from the sect lineage, yet there’s still infighting; it’s quite boring.
Thinking about this, Gu Yuan lost interest in idle chatter.
Moreover, he had tasks today besides finding useful Daoist Scriptures. He needed to go out on a mission.
Therefore, after exchanging a few idle words with Lu Qian, Gu Yuan entered the Library Pavilion.
Watching Gu Yuan leave, Lu Qian gradually withdrew his smile, his expression deep and inscrutable as to what he was thinking.
