Beast Taming: I'm Really Just a Forest Ranger-Chapter 78: No One Can Take Away My Dried Fish!
September 12th, Thursday.
Another sunny day.
To enhance the farm’s security forces and get every little guy trained, Chen Yuan got up early.
"Cola, as the farm’s most experienced employee, you need to set a good example." Chen Yuan forcefully woke Cola from its sleep.
"Woof....."
Cola, with drool still at the corner of its mouth, blinked open its eyes, its consciousness wavering between clarity and confusion, before finally getting up after a long while.
Quickly finishing breakfast, Chen Yuan gathered all the little guys except for Bean Chicken in front of him.
"Quack....."
Even standing in front of Chen Yuan, Run Run Duck was still half-awake, with eyes blinking slowly, head bobbing back and forth, gradually drooping but the body remaining stable.
Glancing at Run Run Duck, Chen Yuan spoke, "Eating fried little fish."
"Quack!"
Almost instantaneously, Run Run Duck’s eyes shot open, its light blue eyes sparkling, head swiftly lifted, scanning around eagerly.
Where? Where?
Where’s my fried little fish?
Chen Yuan chuckled, "As long as you complete the training tasks obediently, there will be dried fish to eat every day."
Upon hearing this, the light in Run Run Duck’s eyes immediately dimmed, and its whole figure slumped.
Training duck.
Seems troublesome.
Chen Yuan glanced around — Spark with a calm face, Cola full of anticipation, Iron Head with a proud posture, a yawning Run Run Duck, and Electric Flying Cat drooling over Luminous Fruit on the tree.
He clapped his hands, speaking softly, "The farm needs everyone to protect it, last time you all did very well, working together to defeat the intruders."
"What if things like that happen again?"
He looked at each little guy in turn, "Intruders will ruin the vegetables in the fields, snatch all the fish from the ponds, steal all the fruits from the trees."
With each statement Chen Yuan made, Iron Head, Run Run Duck, and Electric Flying Cat’s expressions grew increasingly serious, with the latter two little ones’ previously casual demeanor suddenly turning heavy, seemingly imagining the scenes Chen Yuan described.
"Quack quack—!!"
Run Run Duck’s figure suddenly straightened, its eyes seemingly ablaze with fiery determination.
No one can take Duck’s dried little fish!!!
"Very good." Seeing the little guys’ enthusiasm for training successfully stirred up, Chen Yuan waved his hand, "Then let’s each start our training."
"We’ll focus on skills training now, with each set consisting of five repetitions; stop when you’re tired."
A moment later,
The originally empty courtyard suddenly became lively, with five little guys occupying different areas starting their individual training.
For a time, various skills bloomed with brilliant lights in the courtyard.
Chen Yuan moved a small stool and sat under the eaves, munching on watermelon, timely reminding, "Remember not to damage the items in the courtyard."
Just as the words fell, Chen Yuan heard the sound of breaking items in the courtyard.
Turning his head, he found that it was Cola practicing [Wind Blade] and accidentally hitting the worn-out glass in the courtyard.
The glass from the old house that had aged and looked unattractive, which a while back, Chen Yuan enthusiastically had replaced with aesthetically pleasing, transparent large glasses without wooden frames.
While those worn-out glasses hadn’t yet been disposed of.
Chen Yuan looked at the shattered old glass, pursed his lips, and slowly raised his head to look at Cola.
Cola hurriedly extended its paw to cover its mouth, with a reluctant appearance, and when it saw Chen Yuan speaking, quickly used its paw to cover its ears, becoming a shrinking puppy.
Chen Yuan was amused, "You all be careful, don’t get hurt by the glass."
Then, he swept up the shattered glass.
After a while,
Chen Yuan clapped his hands, "Alright, take a break, come over to eat watermelon."
Upon hearing this, Cola and Run Run Duck immediately stopped training, eagerly walking towards Chen Yuan, and unapologetically snatched a piece of watermelon.
Electric Flying Cat was the third to come running, its fluffy large tail swaying left and right, eyeing the watermelon for a long time, only starting to eat after picking the most vibrant and largest slice.
Spark landed on Chen Yuan’s shoulder, and the latter directly broke off a small piece of watermelon and brought it to its mouth, seeing this, the watermelon in front of Cola suddenly seemed less appealing.
"Quack?"
Run Run Duck, busy with its watermelon, noticed Cola’s reaction, tilting its head with a puzzled expression.
If you don’t want it, I, Duck, can help you eat it.
Saying that, Run Run Duck tentatively extended its wing to touch the watermelon in front of Cola.
"Woof!"
Cola snapped back, quickly glaring at Run Run Duck, guarding the watermelon in front of itself.
"Chomp."
Iron Head contemplated the morning’s training insights and experiences, confirmed its progress, before leisurely walking over to Chen Yuan.
Casually grabbing a slice of watermelon, Iron Head sat on the ground, eating while quietly pondering how to make its attack cleaner and more efficient.
"Squawk~"
Suddenly, a familiar and piercing sound echoed above the farm.
Chen Yuan and the little guys looked up in unison, seeing a gray figure appearing from under the sky, diving down at high speed.
In a moment, Gray Feathered Hunting Eagle slowly flapped its wings midway, with its narrow red eyes staring at Chen Yuan and the little guys.
Chen Yuan held up the watermelon, smilingly greeting, "Long time no see, Gray Feathered Hunting Eagle, want some watermelon?"
The fierce-faced Gray Feathered Hunting Eagle slowly shook its head, instantly fixating on Spark, extending its wing toward the latter, initiating a combat invitation.
Spark turned to look at Chen Yuan, who said, "You can go if you want."
"Coo."
Spark nodded, unfolding its wings to fly.
One minute later,
A bruised and battered Gray Feathered Hunting Eagle obediently stood by Chen Yuan, lowering its head to peck at the watermelon on the ground, with signs of burns on its gray feathers.
"Quack quack."
Run Run Duck leaned closer to Cola’s ear, eating watermelon while commenting on Gray Feathered Hunting Eagle’s reckless behavior. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Insisting on challenging the big boss instead of directly eating watermelon.
"Woof woof."
Cola nodded in affirmation.
Chen Yuan, however, remembered something, found a photo of Violent Cloud Sparrow on the Beastmaster’s website, and showed it to Gray Feathered Hunting Eagle: "Gray Feathered Hunting Eagle, have you seen this Pet Beast?"
"They’re always in groups, probably over a dozen."
Though the little guys worked together to fend off the Violent Cloud Sparrows, the matter cannot be left as is, Chen Yuan must give them a profound lesson to stop coveting the Spirit Plants on the farm.
But finding these Violent Cloud Sparrows is no easy task.
"Squawk~"
Gray Feathered Hunting Eagle stared at the Violent Cloud Sparrow in the photo for a while, then nodded.
It remembers this annoying group, always roaming in flocks, once boldly trying to snatch its Spirit Fish.
Seeing Gray Feathered Hunting Eagle’s reaction, Chen Yuan smiled with delight, "Can you help us find them?"
"Squawk!"
Gray Feathered Hunting Eagle raised its head high, agreeing cheerfully.
It happens to want to stir up trouble for this group too.
