Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven-Chapter 332: Egg in a cave
A few months later, a young shepherd was herding his sheep. One of them suddenly sprinted at full speed towards the distant mountain range.
He chased after it, shouting, but the sheep did not stop. The boy was confused and surprised.
That sheep was the oldest one and should not have been able to run like that anymore, yet it did right in front of his eyes.
It ran as if its life depended on it until it disappeared into the mountains. He followed it inside.
He walked a few kilometres into the mountain range. The path was rough and uneven, and following the sheep’s trail led him to a cave hidden behind two mountains.
It was dark, and he couldn’t see clearly, but the darkness was pushed away by golden light.
He came to a large cave filled with tall, lush trees, grass as tall as he was, and flowers as beautiful as the fairest maiden.
However, what caught his attention the most was what lay in the centre of this cave. A massive egg, pitch black in colour.
This egg was bigger than anything he had ever seen, to the point he wondered what could lie in it.
The egg was black, but he could see inside it. There shone a soft golden light that lit up the entire cave.
Through that golden light, he could faintly see a shadow of a massive creature with wings.
’ Sky dragon.’ That thought suddenly came to him. He has heard legends of dragons, both sky and sea dragons.
Giant creatures that wielded the might that can shake the heavens themselves, with strength to destroy worlds and devour stars.
He figured that this was a young dragon; finding an egg of a divine beast was a sign of fortune.
The shepherd boy couldn’t hold back his excitement and ran back home to tell his parents. The place was far, so it took him half a day to get back home.
When his father heard what he said, he immediately ran to tell the village chief, who was the only cultivator in their village.
A Qi-gathering stage cultivator who was just rank 1. He was also the oldest, having lived for over 200 years.
The old chief stroked his long white beard; his excitement could barely be hidden beneath his eyes.
" Take me there, boy." He told the shepherd boy. Old as the chief was, he was still stronger than all of them combined.
The boy led them to a cliff; the path was hard to walk. After walking for a few kilometres, they reached a small mountain range. It was already dark when they got there.
Hidden behind two other mountains was the mountain with the cave. He led them inside, and when they saw the egg, they froze.
The others couldn’t feel it since they were mortal, but how could the chief not? The will coming from the egg was so immense he couldn’t imagine the power of whatever lay inside.
One of the warriors tried to get close, " DON’T TOUCH IT." The chief shouted a warning, but it was too late.
As soon as the man’s hand touched the egg, it exploded into blood mist. He scrambled, but the destruction of his body continued.
The chief had to intervene; he pulled out his sabre and cut off the man’s arm, stopping the spread.
He looked at the egg with a frown and told everybody to retreat. He was ambitious and hoped to break through to the foundation realm, but he was not an idiot.
He knew this treasure couldn’t be his; he was too weak to even touch it, let alone use it.
" Don’t tell anybody about this." He warned the others and told them to leave. The shepherd boy wasn’t happy about that.
Just as he was about to leave the cave, he saw the sheep that led him here. He went to pick it up, only to find it was heavier.
The sheep had grown bigger and healthier too. It no longer looked old and feeble like before.
He saw it eating fallen apples with pleasure; he looked back and saw the chief and his men were not looking.
He picked 8 apples, then led the sheep outside. He found the rest of his herd still grazing.
Even after leaving them for almost an entire day, they did not go too far. He led them back home.
There he found his mother and sister waiting for him, and his father, who had followed the chief.
His father came in after him, they cleaned up, then sat around the table to eat. They ate their vegetable soup with rice porridge.
To him who didn’t know the taste of something better, this was the best meal he had ever had.
Just as they were about to finish, they heard a knock outside. They paused, and he stood up to open the door.
His father picked up a machete and waited for whatever came through. When he opened the door, he saw a woman in a black coat.
She was standing in the rain, drenched. The woman looked at him and bowed. " Greetings, I’m a humble traveller seeking shelter."
The family looked at each other.

Naledi had been drawn here because she felt somebody enter Ved’s cave. She didn’t think anybody in this world could threaten him.
However, she also wanted to know when somebody entered his cave. She wasn’t certain if his evolution could be disturbed, but she didn’t want to take any chances.
Just as she passed by this village, she suddenly felt a strong life force. Or rather, life aura.
The only person she knew who could give off such a pure life aura was Ved, whose blood was infused with life drops; she suspected they were a diluted form of life origin.
His presence alone can speed up the growth of trees if he wanted. Of course, he had no idea how to use said ability before.
However, when he went into his egg, she felt it leak out, which is why she put the egg in a cave on an isolated mountain range.
Now, she felt that aura here; she looked down at the boy in front of her, and the aura came from him.
She saw an apple hidden in his pants and understood. This kid must’ve picked up the apple in the cave.
’ Should I have locked the cave?’ she wondered.
