Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven-Chapter 322: Dryad
The moment they stepped beyond the boundary they stopped. The air and essence felt different from that of earth.
More stale, for Ved it was not that different except smelling a bit old, for Naledi though, things were different.
It was like going from drinking purified water to drinking old stale pond water. She frowned, being here made her uncomfortable, the essence was too thick and hard to absorb.
Even with the dense forest, the air felt stale like she was in a closed off damp room. Ved had his own problems.
For safety measures he had left a single avatar back on earth but the moment he left, that heart merged back with him.
" Wait here." He told Naledi and jumped back through the boundary. He created an avatar and left it there.
When he crossed over he lost connection with that avatar, then he watched it disintegrate into particles.
His avatars were avatars because they were connected to him, when that connection was cut off they died.
When they died his body regenate a new heart to replace the lost one. He sighed and figured he couldn’t leave an avatar behind.
Earth was like a completely isolated dimension. Naledi tried to go back to see if she can but the barrier blocked her.
" It seems I can’t go back." She told him with a smile, instead of being saddened or scared by not being able to return home she was happy instead.
If she couldn’t go back then nobody above rank 5 should be able to, which confirmed that earth would be relatively safe in their absence.
Ved took a deep breath then transformed into his full body, expecting his dense body to pull the air around him.
He had tried to learn White’s ability to control her own weight and failed. No matter how hard he tried he couldn’t.
On the contrary he learnt how to make himself heavier through consuming food but that required him to sacrifice evolution points.
When he took his true form, his body did not generate a gravitation pull powerful enough to cause tornadoes around him.
" I see, it seems this world is more stable than earth, its space is more solidified as well."
Naledi climbed on his back and he took to the skies. He used stealth trait to make the two of them invisible.
With his strength, only the old and really powerful monsters can see through his stealth trait.
He flew through the sky above the giant forest that seemed endless, it had trees so tall they rose over a kilometre into the sky.
He could see some living tree creatures below like the treants or the spiritual tree race called Dryads.
The Dryads were all beautiful women, they seemed to be the rulers of this forest. Ved and Naledi thought this was an elven world at first.
It appeared they were wrong which was great news, elves weren’t the peaceful race stories made them out to be.
They were arrogant and incredibly cruel to others not of their own. Fortunately the Dryads were different.
They were a numerous and powerful race but they were also very peaceful, amongst the most peaceful races, as long as you don’t threaten them or their forests they would never harm you.
Weeks passed, while flying they felt a pair of eyes on them, to be more specific it was soul sense that was watching them.
They looked down and saw a beautiful woman with long green hair looking at them with interest.
They could both feel her power and it was terrifying. Since they were passing through her territory they decided to pay their respects.
Even though Dryads were known for their peaceful nature, Ved and Naledi didn’t want to end up disrespecting a leader amongst them.
They dropped to the centre of the forest and landed Infront of the largest tree here. It had a diameter of over 4 kilometres and tall enough to reach the sky.
Its canopy cast a vast shadow over the forest. As soon as they landed they were surrounded.
Most of those surrounding them were at the projection realm like Ved but some were stronger.
Two were even stronger than Naledi, they were at the comprehension realm. The two of them knew if they tried anything they would die.
Dryads were very protective of their own, because of their nature as tree spirit they were considered a valuable resource in the universe.
Before, they had ways to lock down the planets in their territories and prevent others from coming in but in Pangera that will be harder.
Naledi jumped off his back, they both faced the biggest tree and bowed, " Greetings senior."
They greeted at the same time, they could feel the terrifying presence looking at them from above.
" What interesting children." An ethereal voice came from above. Before Naledi and Ved could react a woman appeared Infront of them like she had always been there.
Her speed was more than anything the two of them had ever seen, strong as they were they couldn’t even track her shadow.
The woman was so beautiful she even dwarfed Naledi. Of course Ved understood that was simply because of her higher cultivation.
Nobody was more beautiful than his little angel of death. The woman stood Infront of him.
She touched his face and stroked it gently which made Naledi give her a dangerous look. She noticed her gaze and giggled.
" I feel quite connected to you little one, tell me your name."
" Ved, my lady and this is my wife Naledi." Ved introduced them. Naledi couldn’t help but smile when he introduced her as his wife.
Technically they weren’t yet married but they were still engaged. The woman looked at Naledi gently.
It wasn’t because she cared about them specifically, it was the nature of Dryads to care about life or so he was told.
She scanned them a few times then frowned, " This will not do, this will not do at all."
They were both confused and thought they perhaps did something wrong and they were ready to apologise.
" You two are like walking beacons, you’re walking around with a blood that contains so much pure life essence.
It’s like I’m standing next to a leaf of the true Yggdrasil, everybody would kill to have you, do you know what alchemists can do with your blood?"
She shook her heard again, " Then you, a child with divinity, not just any divinity one that stands at the peak in this era.
Your existence is a threat to those old monsters, if you grow to reach their ranks you would certainly stand above them, do you think they would allow that? foolish, foolish children.
This won’t do, this just won’t do at all."
She sounded like a mother reprehending children. Her words however made Ved and Naledi grow tense.
