Bear School Astartes-Chapter 832 - 815: A Year and a Half
"Phew~"
Lann finally pulled Cassandra away from his lips and let out a long breath, his heart palpitating as he stared at the eyebrows resembling those drawn with dye stone.
"Were you trying to eat me just now?!"
Cassandra licked the blood on her lips with lingering excitement and smiled.
"Who knows... If I had bitten off your tongue just now, I don’t know if I would have swallowed it directly."
The beauty born from the Aegean Sea calmly uttered words that made Lann’s heart tremble.
But then, Cassandra laughed heartily and jumped off Lann.
"It’s a pity if the situation in Athens were clear now, I would find a random room with you and stay inside for three days and nights without rest."
"I want that too."
Lann let Cassandra go and responded with a smile.
Neither of them are pretentious; in fact, they are both bold and uninhibited warriors.
Even in a situation that should be touching like ’reunion,’ they more often express their honesty and strength rather than getting entangled indecisively.
Rong Buqiu lifted his helmet visor, watching this scene and scratching his beard with small paws, then tilted his head to look at the eagle not far from him.
The other also turned its head, with its golden phoenix-colored beak and sharp eyes, making Icarus look like a stern teacher.
The kitten suddenly thought of something, took out a piece of jerky from his waist pouch, and cautiously handed it towards Icarus.
Halfway through the gesture, he pulled back, hesitated, and bit off half for himself, then handed the remaining half over.
Icarus hopped a few steps closer, grabbed it with his sharp beak, then placed it in his claws, occasionally tearing off strips of meat to eat.
A cat and an eagle, each eating half a piece of jerky, watching the two humans entangled opposite them.
"You just mentioned ’clear situation’..."
Lann ran his thumb over his lower lip, wiping away blood stains, and looked at Cassandra with an inquisitive gaze.
"You don’t know what’s happening in Athens either?"
"I just docked the Adrestia at the port this morning; only now do I have the time to disembark." Cassandra shrugged. "What could I know?"
Lann shook his head.
"I just got here too... you understand, right? Encountering you is truly good news for me, otherwise I really wouldn’t know how much time I’d spend looking for you."
In this era, finding someone is so difficult; just look at Cassandra.
In search of her mother, this woman has constantly been pulled into wars and conspiracies on the chaotic and war-torn Aegean Sea, and it seems to have yielded no results so far.
"Ah~" Cassandra dragged her tone meaningfully.
"Can’t you see everything from Mount Olympus? It’s not what the myth says."
"I didn’t go to Mount Olympus." Lann sighed helplessly, then raised his eyebrows.
"But now there is indeed some good news. I’m certain I can travel back and forth freely every so often, and if you’re interested..."
"I could take you to some ’very, very far’ places for a stroll."
"Is this an invitation?" Cassandra laughed lightly, teasing.
"Why not?" Lann retorted.
At this moment, Cassandra froze, realizing Lann was serious.
She joyfully flung herself onto Lann again, and after jumping down, she forced herself to calm down.
"Not yet... not yet... I must find my mother... save my brother..."
Repeating her goal several times, Cassandra finally resisted the temptation.
Living with her lover was too precious for someone who has lacked family since childhood.
"Don’t rejoice too soon; the places I go aren’t the Divine Mountain Peaks where gods indulge themselves." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Lann held down Cassandra’s shoulders, smiling as he spoke.
"There too requires fighting, equally ruthless. Even more ruthless."
"But I’m willing to accompany you to the deepest depths of Tartarus, even if it means battling the gods."
Cassandra declared without hesitation.
This time it was Lann’s turn to be momentarily struck, then he smiled.
-----------------
Having eaten his fill of jerky, Icarus flew back into the sky, while Rong Buqiu followed closely behind Cassandra and Lann, occasionally casting curious glances at the strong and agile woman.
"How long have I been gone?"
Athens remained shrouded in the burning black smoke, appearing just as somber and oppressive as before. But having found each other, their tone had lightened considerably.
"A year and a half."
Cassandra casually mentioned.
"The war between Sparta and Athens, tangled in alliances and mutual assaults, has already spread across the entire Greek world for over two years... Too many things in the world have changed due to war."
"Sparta is now besieging Athens, and the situation is very favorable. But whether they dare to continue attacking after their spies figure out the situation inside the city is yet to be seen."
"The plague doesn’t discriminate between Athenians or Spartans."
Through the conversation, Lann gained a better understanding of the overall situation in the Greek world.
Since coming out of the ancient forge on Andros Island, Cassandra has traveled sequentially to regions such as Argolis and Corinth in search of her mother.
It seems due to Lann’s departure, her killing intent intensified during that period.
She killed numerous members of the Divine Teachings during this year and a half and gathered fragments of their divine artifacts, upgrading the Broken Spear twice in the ancient forge.
Her body and potential simultaneously received amplification and growth.
The bloodline of the precursors appeared to be exceptionally strong in her.
Meanwhile, she claimed the divine artifacts from those Divine Teachings members as her own.
Lann had previously killed Brison in Athens and obtained a piece of Amazon Shin Guards, and now Cassandra had collected the entire Amazon Armor set.
The complete set included shin guards, wrist guards, torso armor, headdress, and a skirt.
This meant Cassandra had eliminated an entire branch known as ’Divine Teachings Heroes’ within the Order Divine Teachings.
"It seems the Order Divine Teachings must already realize how formidable you are."
Lann remarked, pursing his lips to Cassandra.
This woman’s seriousness in her killing indeed seems a bit terrifying... a mysterious organization hidden behind the Greek world, with hands and power spread everywhere, silently eliminated quite a few.
"But I’ve also provoked more people."
Cassandra sighed with frustration. She showed Lann her left wrist, and with a ’crack,’ a seemingly unremarkable wrist gauntlet popped out a blade like a snake flicking its tongue!
Then, with subtle muscle twitches on her wrist, the blade retracted back like a snake withdrawing its tongue.
Lann raised his eyebrows as he watched.
"Very intricate... an assassination tool?"
"It’s called a sleeve sword. Shared by an old Persian man being pursued, whom I helped escape to Egypt with his son and daughter."
"That sounds like quite a legendary tale."
"Certainly legendary, because it involves an organization even more entrenched than the Order Divine Teachings, the [Ancient Stewards]... Malaka!"
At this point, Cassandra finally sounded like she was in anguish, blurting out that coarse language that made Lann feel a trace of familiarity.
"Why are there so many mysterious organizations in the world? Each one wanting to hide behind the scenes and control human civilization!?"
Lann too shared the same strange expression.
