Barbaric Spouse, Descry the Night's Lure-Chapter 64: Scene LXIV
Some men watched and smirked at each other impressed by the manliness of the usually indifferent Myrkzver bunting to his female with the affection true Mates could express. They sneered and whistled to themselves, feigning blindness after receiving the Archduke’s glare as he stepped away from the alluring woman.
Nonetheless, there was one that had kept silent for too long and at their separation, he came forward again, this time to impose his rudeness on the heated Ewelina trying her best to appear proper before those snickering from the couple’s show of affection.
"Female Myrkzver. I listened to your sayings... But you should know that blood is our language on these grounds."
"... I know–"
"No, you don’t. You only have seen those above. What could a female like you know about us who fight the beasts every day?
"Yngve." — Aslak warned at the menacing step onto his female.
"Nothing. This woman knows nothing of our nature."
Returning his glare to Aslak, Yngve’s growling commenced being heard from the rage in his throat. The men stared at each other until Ewelina decided to reply to the rude barbarian.
"You must have not listened to my words, Yngve. I said I want to learn your people’s whole... Yet I think I know enough just by this visit..."
"Ghrroo... You don’t. Veneer Woman." — Enraged at the portentous stance of Ewelina retorting with similar fierceness, Yngve came forward again menacingly.
"This! This within our flesh! This is–kh!?" — To his exasperated growl, to the lift of a knife that would cut his own flesh in example... Aslak’s hand came to grip his wrist powerfully.
"Don’t speak a word to my Woman."
Flashing his wrath through the burning glare he cast on Yngve, Aslak twisted the savage’s arm so the blade would fall. At which the man recovered it with his free hand as it fell. Taking advantage of the impulse to pierce Aslak’s side.
Nonetheless, he was prevented from doing so by the intuitive Archduke, who in his motion of knocking the limb away caused the collapse of Yngve on his back by the sweep of his leg. Finally taking away the man’s air with his heavy kneel crushing l intentionality on Yngve’s ribcage to break it from the inside.
"KkhHAh!!?"
"... Don’t show red to my Woman."
*Craack*
"–!!"
Watching the scene from up close, Ewelina gulped her gasp in horror at the gruesome sound every impact made. Being that cracking one of the barbarian’s bones muffled by the tough skin that almost made the woman faint from the terrifying impression.
Fright invaded her vessels, causing her body to lightly tremble at the sight of an enraged man fighting for breath even within the excruciating pain dealt by Aslak’s blow.
"... Keep it in that head, Yngve. I had no weapon on my hand." — Raising from the wide man’s torso, Aslak calmly reminded him. — "Don’t defy me. Don’t approach my Mate again... Take him away."
Lifting his gaze to meet that of the accustomed men he lastly ordered. And a pair moved at his order, groaning and mumbling how Yngve had asked for the beating.
"Are you happy now? We told you to leave Myrkzver alone, Yngve."
"khhhgh!" — Unable to emit a word, the exploding red eyes of the man glared as he smiled and hissed at the Archduke while being dragged away in a brutish manner that enhanced his pain.
Aslak watched indifferently and was approached by a severe Hrom that came to his side. Briefly, solely to point out what he was currently oblivious of.
"... Myrkzver... You better go to your Female." — Showing support to the man, Hrom passed by his side giving a rough push to his shoulder as he also told to the remnants with his head’s gesture to leave the place while the crafter also took the curious children away.
His amber hues went immediately to find the figure of his wife, many steps away from where she once was. Standing straightened yet with lowered lids that made him go down her figure to see how, from the inside, her hands gripped the cloak covering her. Trying to restrain the shock from exposing itself in another shape.
Aslak frowned, annoyed at the sight. And sighed heavily before walking to Ewelina. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Woman." — He naturally called... Yet an unnatural response was given by his partner.
"!" — Without daring to lift her lids to meet his eyes, she struggled as she jumped and took a step back. In complete quiet.
Scowling at her action, he then growled, trying to make her reason as he did when acting so violently.
"I didn’t spill blood. He won’t die. I kept my word."
"... y– you are right..." — Still looking down, Ewelina softly mumbled. — "You do... can easily crush me..."
"!?... Are you... fearing me woman?" — To the sight of a starting tremble, Aslak’s voice got stronger. — "I told you I wouldn’t... harm you...?!"
His hand had gone to reach one of the crossed limbs she placed in front once his voice resonated, taking it away in reflex from his hand. And, at the surprise her own action caused, she finally lifted her visage.
Conflicted with fear and regret, her eyes flickered afraid at Aslak as she shrank further in her shoulders and begged her eyelids to hold onto the tears that wanted to fall because of the difficult turmoil her soul, heart and mind were going through.
’He could kill me!’ — She reckoned. Enormously aware of the fame her spouse has that at this time seemed nicer to the truth once heard.
"... You are crying."
’No!’ — Shaking her head desperately while meeting his gaze, she did not utter a word.
His eyes flared in rage at her attitude and observed her for a moment, ignorant as to why this sight was so annoying.
Nonetheless... his body knew better. And even though it was clear he did it against her will, Aslak took her head to shove it into his chest and restrained her flinches and trembles surrounding her with the other arm.
"Don’t cry in front of others. Stop trembling."
"!!"
She continued afraid whilst in his embrace. Recalling how the beatings of her stepfather were nicer than what she witnessed, and how a long past also afflicted her being.
"! Stop trembling!" — Shaking her with frustration Aslak growled strongly at the woman, tightening his grasp, and squeezing her against him.
"Nh!... I–..." — With a hoarse voice Ewelina tried to speak. — "I... can’t..."
"... Are you scared?"
’Yes.’ — "No."
Contrary to her thoughts Ewelina answered, still true to her feelings.
She was indeed... frightened... Nevertheless, the question he asked was not about the fright of her past. But it was from him...
The scent of the man containing her brutally, the strength that although suffocating was controlled not to hurt her, and the steady heartbeat of her spouse transmitting the warmth she briefly had forgotten as a result of the shock... Had made her recall the tone and expression of the man when saying that same morning how he wouldn’t harm her.
"Fuuh... Then why do you keep trembling? Make it stop." — Frowning displeased, Aslak sighed, digging his nose into her head to tighten around her once more.
’He could kill me...’ — Ewelina repeated still shivering. Sliding her hands down from her chest, for she had not been able to save them at her husband’s quick movement. And slid them weakly below his cloak, around his firm waist, to help the squeeze of his contention be tighter. — ’But... he won’t kill me.’
"Embrace me harder, husband." — Trembling voice left her. But it was sweet. As she was hopeful.
’I will believe in you... Because that man wished to harm me. And you stopped him, husband...’
