Chapter 41: Scene XLI — Leisurable Morning.

His intense and continuous stare soon caused unrest in the woman holding her breath as she waited for her spouse to express what his mind tried to figure out.

"Women are frail. But you are too fragile, woman... I married glass."

"I am not... glass... Husband..." — She retorted, sorry for it seemed to trouble the man.

To her voice, Aslak lifted his gaze from the arm in his hand. Solely to look at the downward woman’s eyes that did not meet his as a sign of cautious respect.

Nevertheless, the act itself made him grit his teeth. For it was different a reaction from what he expected from her who showed a different character last night. Hence, pulling Ewelina’s limb, conscious of not using the force that would harm her, Aslak then told straightforwardly to the woman... that almost collided with his countenance at his motion.

"You will tell me whenever it hurts from now on. Take it as your duty. Understood."

A flashback of what caused the bruises on her hips came to mind at his last word. Making last night’s events cross the woman’s head indiscriminately clear and vivid, inducing a slight shiver to travel down her spine as the sensation was recalled in her bottom... However, Ewelina controlled the thrill of his rough allure. As it was now required of her to answer an already decided duty.

"... Yes... I-I understand, Husband." — Timid, the youthful female answered. Clenching the fur to her chest while meeting the amber of his gaze that at her agreement softened their ferocity... Glad to the blush of her agreement.

"Good." — He finished. Coming to lay his eyes down, at her hidden body during her silent shrink.

"Woman... Why do you keep concealing your skin? I have seen a lot of you already."

"It is not... It is not the same, I believe."

"What?"

Incredulous about what she said, the ignorant man who had lifted a finger to peek down the fur, frowned confused by the sayings of the woman. For to his ears, it was nonsense that she spouted, as she even turned away from him prohibiting what his finger was looking for.

"... How is it not the same."

Regardless, Aslak demanded a reply. Coming to lay on his torso’s side, closing any escape her folded legs could attempt with his arm over her lap. So she would face him as they spoke.

"... Well... These are different circumstances..." — Nervous, Ewelina told him. Avoiding the meet of his eyes as his defined torso heightened the difficulty by limiting the places where she felt comfortable looking.

"How."

"... What we do at night... Husband... It is different from what we are doing at this time."

"..."

"It is fine then since it is what married couples do, but... Now is..." — Against an attentive stare as a reply, waiting to hear more words of explanation, Ewelina continued. Slightly troubled by having to elaborate further on such issues she deemed shameful.

Regardless, the man’s answer came. Indifferent to her embarrassment, logical, truthful, and even innocent at her last hesitant words.

"We are still married now." — Aslak announced. Causing bewilderment, and making her meet the hues intently looking at her from below with leisurable poise.

"We are still married at this time... Yet how is it different, woman? You seem to have complicated thoughts on simple matters."

"... I..." — Ewelina started. Following to hear the sound of one know on their door which made them turn to it, distracting them from their exchange.

"It’s our breakfast."

"Are–" — Watching him stand to attend to the food’s arrival, she broke her voice from continuing as she witnessed again his nude frame. Averting her gaze to finish what she was to say. — "Are we having our meal here?"

"That’s right."

Seeing him open the door after his response from the edge of her eye, Ewelina became entranced while looking at his crouched position. Showing his long spine and wide back that flaunted the smooth back of his... Which had surprisingly little to no trace of wounds as she would have expected.

Bringing up with him many plates in both hands, he stood to close the door with his bare feet. Retrieving immediately her gaze as she couldn’t bring herself to look at the shameless displaying of his buff nudity. That ultimately raised an uncomfortable frown on the young woman to say in a reproaching tone because of the sensations it provoked.

"Are–... Husband, do you plan on not wearing anything?"

"Mhm."

Leaving the plates on the table where bases of water resided, Aslak indifferently answered as a piece of hard bread was soaked in oily sauce, to then peek at her from his spot maliciously smirking in expectation to upset the woman as he ate it. Finally letting himself fall into a near chair.

"Cover your eyes if you want. I won’t cover myself, woman." — Showing himself without care, he said. Watching Ewelina stand weakly from their mattress, to look for a gown to use instead of their bed’s sheet.

’I have nothing to wear!’ — Troubled, she exclaimed inwardly. Blushing strongly as she struggled to maintain her back covered with her other hand, so he wouldn’t see more of her skin. And feeling the bewilderment, peeking at the man further behind... Ewelina then stomped away towards the door that led to her private chambers.

"... You’re leaving?"

The door closed soon after he asked. Without any response. Leaving the man behind, losing the amusement her reactions gifted him.

"... Tsk. Odd woman." — He said as his eyes moved on their own to glance at the closed door of hers.

’Did she truly leave?’

"..."

Standing. Seeing no sign of her return, Aslak retrieved the mug he had left on the ground to fill it with new beverage. Grumbling at the silence without her and at how vast the room felt in his skin from the woman’s sudden disappearance.

However. His displeasure would not last further than a long drink.

The sound of her door reached his ears. Yet he feigned not to listen as he grinned. Somehow victorious to the approaching sound of her bare foot stepping on their bedroom’s cold ground.

Sounding closer the more steps she gave. Eventually coming to stand beside him, Ewelina was now wearing a long sleeping gown over her skin with quickly rearranged fur and a clean visage that portrayed composed demeanour. That secretly hid the revenge prepared against his teasing.

"I am back." — She gracefully said, filling her own cup.

"I can see that."

"... I believe I had no choice, after all."

"... If you want to leave, you may as well do so, woman." — Upset at her ways to express her return, Aslak bluntly responded. Annoyed for it implied reluctance.

"I cannot do that." — Entertained, Ewelina elegantly smiled while glimpsing at his fierce frown. — "My door was shining. So... that means my Spouse is summoning me... Am I mistaken, Husband?"

"Your door?" — Looking back at the mentioned gate, Aslak squinted sceptically at her statement. Eventually lifting his brow at the brilliant truth of her words.

"Husband did not want me to leave... So I came back... I would not want to upset His Illustrious Grace right after our Wedding Celebration, would I?"

Looking down at the challenging gaze she now forced herself to maintain; attempting to only look at his upper half as it was below that disturbed her...

Aslak smirked at the woman. Taking her by the waist, accepting her adorable taunt to praise.

"Wise that is from you. Wife."

Closing his cup so she would drink a sip of its fluid, he watched amused at the slight twitch of her brow that followed to accept the drink, by also holding it, grazing his fingers with hers by casualty.

’You are fun, woman.’
