Barbaric Spouse, Descry the Night's Lure-Chapter 214: Scene CCXIV — Ewelina.
As the words she had yearned to hear for the eternity of her life resounded in the silence that followed, it was his steps echo that inundated the chamber as he left the wife in her solitude.
The blurry sound of the far doors was heard as a noisy buzz informing his absence and to the tremor it provoked in her being... the legs that could not take the sorrow any longer, weakly allowed her to fall to the ground.
The woman’s inner lip that had been bitten desperately so no word would come out in response only could tremble as the breath was taken from her, overwhelmed by the circumstances her soul had been placed in.
“... sob... why...” — Ewelina, with a shivering sound asked to nothingness. Slowly lowering her head so it could meet the floor and avoid the brightness this fatidical day did not deserve. — “... why would you say this now..... why... sniff..! Why... why would you do this to me..... when you’re leaving..... when... you’re going somewhere far from me.....”
— I love you...—
“Hngh.... Huff... no..... why Aslak...”
— ... deeply... —
“Why..... why has it.....hic!... why has it come to this...? Why..... how can I properly hate you when you leave like this...”
— Fatædi —
“.... Why like this.... My..... my dear...”
Regardless of the grief her broken heart was under, Ewelina did not leave her chambers in search of that one she cried for. The sadness was poured into the ground she found refuge on... While at a distance, the great gates of the Palace announced their opening so a safe march was blessed upon the Archduke... whose own tears had to be wiped even as already arid once before the men he was to lead. Reluctant to do so as the woman and wife he loved was to remain apart from him. Where he could not see her... where his being would continue without listening to the sound of her sweet voice that had enchanted him from the very first time he heard her.

Days... she did not know for how many her eyes cried one-sidedly after his departure.
The harshness in her heart was numb from conflicted sorrows as even though his departure was not desired... the love she felt could no longer be allowed by a wounded soul.
*Knock knock...* — Soft and seemingly small knocks on her door resounded shyly while she sat on the very corner Ewelina had chosen to rest instead of their mattress before. Looking at the bright outside... where she knew somewhere afar her spouse moved into danger.
“... Master...?” — The voice of a brakian mainglousse child cautiously peeked into the room, calling with slight fear for the woman’s permission.
“... You are here, Nu.”
“Master... Nu brought food today again but Master did not touch it...”
“... appetite has yet to come back to myself, Nu... I am sorry.”
The child that had walked inside cautiously stared sad, failing to restrain her pout as this was the fourth day, none of the food she carefully picked for her Master’s wife was touched nor glanced by the dazed Ewelina. And yet more was to be let out by the woman sitting away near a window, provoking the child’s hand to clench on her worn dress as sadness strengthened along with her frustration.
“Tomorrow. Surely tomorrow I am to eat.”
“Ngh! Liar. Master’s wife said that the days before and never ate a piece of what Nu brought! Master’s wife said that if Nu didn’t call her Master’s wife she would eat Nu’s food! Master’s wife is lying once more to Nu!”
“...”
“Master’s wife wants to die...” — Crying, now the child’s chin cowered from sadness as she shrank on her small purplish body. — “Nu promised Master... Nu will protect and care for Master’s wife... Master’s wife... Nu doesn’t want Mater’s wife to die either...”
“... It is not that I wish to die, Nu... Only... food is tasteless for myself now.”
“... Even if tasteless, Master’s wife should eat. Sniff!” — Wipping the snot that had fallen as she told her feelings, Nu reproached Ewelina. — “I heard from Gilead, ‘Master’s wife is experiencing hazard’, Gilead said! Hazard’s to be left behind after eating! Nu knows! Nu hadn’t eaten before for long! And Master fed Nu, leaving hazard behind!! Nu will do the same for Master’s wife!!”
“... No... Nu, truly, I am not hungry...” — Pulled by the small hand that came to move her from the corner, Ewelina without energy said, following the child even though no intention of eating was within herself.
“Master’s wife will eat!!”
“...”
“Eat!!”
With tears in her green eyes, the brakian mainglousse held bread soaked in oils and wrapped in ham so the woman would take it, and yet, Ewelina solely stared, taking it simply to lower the child’s hand.
“I am not going to eat it.”
“Nh!! M-master’s wife...!”
“I told you not to call me that.” — Releasing her hand from the child, she said coldly.
“No!! Master’s wife is Master’s wife!! Nu cannot call Master’s wife Ewelina!!”
Disheartened by the reluctance her loved master continued to show even as she desperately tried her best, Nu’s purple started to gain a blue shade, truly saddened and troubled, for she ignored how she was to aid her Master’s wife from here on.
Tears flooded frustrated, lonesome, as her hand had been discarded, shrinking in herself... confused about what to do.
Nonetheless, the woman provoking such demeanour in the young one sighed quietly to the headache, closing her eyes for a moment... deciding it was time to walk out of her chamber, so the cloudy thoughts could clear.
“... Don’t cry Nu.”
“Hic...! Nu cries...sniff... Nu sad...! Gnh!”
“I am aware it is because of myself... yet wipe these tears... I am to eat today.” — Lowering herself to clean the tears from the girl’s visage, Ewelina could not give as warm a smile as she wanted to. However, trying to show warmth with the caress her hand gave to the child’s long hair, Ewelina continued to give the instruction that would grant the wishes of the child. — “However, first, I will need Nu to do something for me.”
“... Is Master’s wife saying the truth?... Will Master’s wife truly eat if Nu does as Master’s wife says?”
Even if exhausted of hearing the child call her the Master’s wife... Ewelina decided to forget the unreasonable request she had demanded from the girl. Holding the heavy sigh within so the instructions could be told as needed.
