Barbaric Spouse, Descry the Night's Lure-Chapter 118: Scene CXVIII — Danger won’t reach You.
Three days they were to travel to get to the Granite Tower. However, it was four it took them, for the beasts that were dormant during the season she arrived were already out of their caves, staying on the prowl at the near grounds leading to those Hœttr Hills which’s nature was already signalling gruesome changes in its grounds the more visible they became as they advanced.
Hence... On the second day of travels...
"Kir." — Aslak approached his Constable whose eyes were already staring at the dark borders giving to an ominous inside separated from the open space their path was. — "You also sensed it, huh."
"Their orbs wouldn’t drift from our tents at night... These beasts are scrutinizing their prey. Heh."
"... They will come out to get us later today."
"They sure will..." — Grinning excited, Kir mumbled as both saw how the gruesome glow of lurking eyes suddenly moved to disappear into the darkness after meeting the savages’ ferocity. — "Ya sharpened your axe... my lord?"
"... Tell that to the others. You’re forgetting a knight’s manners as soon as prey appears again."
"My blood is that of the savages. Cannot help it if the hunt is promising, Your Grace."
"Once those hiding attack, we might not be able to continue moving. We’ll eat and get going as soon as we can. Tell the men to keep the axe in hand."
"Ai."
Giving an entertained glare, Aslak left the Sire to continue admiring the menace surrounding them, going back to the side of the woman who ate her humble meal along with an attached brakian child.
"Master’s Wife~ aaaa~"
"Aaa~... Mm! Nu’s bread does taste better."
"Nu helped in the Kitchen! Nu’s hands are good for cookery!"
"Haha. Then perhaps, I can teach you some recipes someday."
"! Does Master’s Wife–"
"You cook?" — Aslak interrupted the girl, annoyed by how close they were as the child sat on Ewelina’s lap.
Both looked up at the man that loomed over their heads, surprised by how cold his frown and mannerism were. Yet the brakian mainglousse was too accustomed to his menacing stance, immediately giggling to his pout ultimately resulting in the child fleeing at his dreadful glare.
"hihihi~ Master is upset from early morning~"
"....."
"?!?!! Master’s Wife! Nu goes!" — Jumping from Ewelina’s lap, Nu escaped, allowing the couple some privacy from her ears.
"... Husband keeps scaring poor Nu..."
"Do you cook?"
"... I do." — Taking a moment to take in his severity, Ewelina replied as severe. Standing to aid her neck from the sharp tilt while looking at the tall spouse. — "How come you wear a grimace already? Did something happen?"
"..... The kid is annoying."
"Sigh... she has not done anything to upset you. Husband lacks patience."
"Yeah. I do. That’s also annoying." — Agreeing with her resigned statements, Aslak immediately responded, crossing his arms without shame to admit it.
As simple as his answer, her frustration at the hidebound character he possessed dissolved with a soft laugh at his straightforward compliance, coming back to stand right before him, looking directly into his eyes to continue more of an amicable conversation.
"What happened? You said you would go look around to confirm something."
"... Beasts are lurking. Ever since last night."
"! Wh-what?... Where? I- I cannot see any..." — Glancing at her surroundings Ewelina flinched slightly concerned about the circumstances she had not lived until this day.
"They hide." — Stepping closer he informed. Looking down at her concern with conflict. For it infected her worry accompanied with a hint of excitement, just as her tears had done before. — "Stay the nearest you can once they attack."
"Th-they... They will attack?"
"They will."
"A-alright... yet... H-how come they did not attack while we slept?? If they were lurking since last night..."
"You slept."
"... Oh... I-I see..."
"..."
Nervousness was apparent in the woman. And the man observed intently at her demeanour that accepted his instructions whilst concern haunted Ewelina, as she was conscious of her weakness before a beastly menace.
Aslak breathed in the woman’s nature, immersed in the trouble it instilled within his lungs because of how her hands fiddled with each other, demonstrating the inquietude while her lowered head pondered not only in her own safety... but on being an obstacle for the men to freely fight.
’What am I to do...? While I slept others were alert... The danger was warned yet I... a burden... I cannot become–’
"I’ll even carry you if needed."
"..."
"I’m aware wife is weak. Even to my touch you bruise." — Dire, the man told the woman whose stares titillated to his sayings. While his large fingers came to tangle with the beautiful curls casually hiding her visage. — "... Weak woman."
"... I-..... I am not... Husband is simply too strong..."
"So you know." — He said with a grin.
"..."
"Dismiss the fear. I told you no harm will reach you. Don’t make me say it again, Fatædi."
"... yes..." — Moved, she replied with a fading voice out of emotion.
The truth he had seen through, saying the correct reassurance that would soothe her soul’s confidence pleased her feminine heart... Yet words felt void as an answer compared with the feelings her spouse provoked.
Therefore, during the quiet that followed her shy response, she peeked at their surroundings, where men gradually became busy to resume their travels. Eventually deciding to lay her hands on his, taking it with both of her palms to timidly pull him away with her. — "Uhm, husband... Come with me for a moment..."
"? What’s wrong."
"F-follow me..."
Intrigued by her sudden request his brow lifted curiously at her cautious glances accompanied by blush and adorable stutter. Feeling complex for it made the Archduke anticipate more from her touch; although he understood the woman had the control he lacked of his lust. And probably was not aiming for anything near to what he desired.
Taking the man to where the horses remained, Ewelina found the lonesome steed Litilmenni, whose difficult character maintained it away from other humans and even from its race, making it the safest place she could find while in the open nature.
"A-alright... I believe it is fine here..." — Once hiding with the tall man behind Litilmenni, Ewelina said. Peeking from the mount’s side to make sure no eyes would see.
"What is it? Why come here." — The man scowled. Ignorant. For his imagination was limited when it came to the thoughts crossing his wife.
"... Because... I want to kiss my husband..."
"..."
"....."
His silence made her blush further. For she thought Aslak would dive into her lips quickly after... Yet his stare continued to lay on her... frankly wondering in a frozen stance about how to heed her sweet requests followed by adorable actions so he would not regret his eagerness.
Nonetheless, Ewelina timidly glanced at him, feeling more heated at the man’s blank stare... to eventually whisper bashful for the desired permission.
"... M-may I?... Husband?" — Ewelina asked. Squeezing lightly the wide hand of the man. Finally receiving a reply thanks to her touch.
"How."
"?... pardon...?"
"How many."
"..."
"How much... how deep can it be, Fatædi... because I swear I could fuck you right now."
