"Donโt go!" Nan Fei shouted, successfully stopping Lu Jin in his tracks. ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ธ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ต.๐ฌ๐ค๐ข
"But..."
"I said, donโt go," Nan Fei purposely said. "I told him a long time ago; he knows Iโm coming back."
"Really?" Why did his mother seem upset? It looked like her eyes were red - had she been crying?
"Yes!" Nan Fei answered resolutely.
Lu Jin noticed her determination. He feared that if he disagreed with her decision to return, she might encounter danger. In the end, he had no choice but to drive Nan Fei home.

After dinner, Huo Beijiang took Xi Liqun and others for a round on the training ground. He wanted to send them away but Xi Liqun stubbornly stayed, showing no intention of leaving.
"Bei Jiang!" Xi Liqun pointed to the men training. "I feel as though some people are missing?"
Huo Beijiang pretended not to understand. "How so?"
"The numbers donโt add up," Xi Liqun muttered internally, feigning nonchalance. "These training grounds donโt match with the number of people youโve transferred from the various squads, do they?"
Did the young man think he couldnโt count?
"Time for bed!" Huo Beijiang checked the time, "Itโs nearly ten oโclock, who wouldnโt be sleeping by now?"
He then turned to Xi Liqun and complained, "Commander, are you causing trouble for us because your wife is not at home?"
Xi Liqun, infuriated, blew his mustache and glared at him. The brat had most of his men training up in the mountains and now he was blaming him?
"What would a bachelor like you know?"
Huo Beijiang adjusted his army collar, exposing his neck to Xi Liqun.
"You..." Xi Liqun was at a loss for words. "Beware! If there is a scandal about your lifestyle, youโll regret it!"
"Alright, itโs getting late. I still have a report to write when I get back! Letโs go!" A political commissar hurriedly urged. "We wonโt see anything in this darkness anyway. We can return tomorrow."
"Hmph!"
"Take care, commander!" Huo Beijiang saluted, calling out cheerfully.
Hearing this, Xi Liqun walked even faster.
Huo Beijiang sighed with relief as he finally sent everyone away, thinking about the little wife waiting for him at home. He wished he could be home at once. He gave a few orders to some squad leaders and hastily made his way to the residential quarters.
Halfway there, he realized he was drenched in sweat. He took a detour to the public bathhouse to freshen up. After taking a shower and changing into clean clothes, he went home to find the door open but no lights on inside.
Huo Beijiang stared at the dark room, his heart beating quicker at the thought of his little wife waiting inside.
He strode in, then suddenly a figure in the darkness flung itself at him. Thin arms wrapped around his lean waist, a soft, supple body pressing closely against his. As Huo Beijiangโs instinct was to hold her in his arms, his hand was about to touch her back when he abruptly stopped.
Something wasnโt right!
His face instantly turned cold. He slapped the light switch on the wall by the entrance.
The light flickered a few times, the room brightened abruptly, it was blinding.
Fan Wei stood there in disheveled clothes, looking pitifully at Huo Beijiang, her slender body trembling slightly. He couldnโt tell if it was because she was in his embrace or because of his icy demeanor.
