Back To The 90s: The Resilient Daughter-In-Law-Chapter 1906 - 1924: Red Directive (Part 9)
Ning Di and Yu Xiaoxiao stood to the side with over a dozen members of the 36th Division, each standing tall with solemn expressions, but they were feeling awfully awkward inside, wishing they could just run away. They had fought tooth and nail for the chance to visit the commander, and now he still hadn’t gotten up.
So awkward!
Ning Di glanced at Minister Wei on the left, who was clearly upset, and Jiang Yang. Then he looked at Fu Xinwu on the right, and Yu Fengji, who was standing not far from Fu Xinwu with an awkward atmosphere. The whole hallway felt incredibly awkward.
Ning Di coughed, "Minister Wei, have you eaten? If not, should we head to the cafeteria first?"
In fact, Wei Fangyi had eaten before going out in the morning. Even if he didn’t eat, he would watch Jiang Yang eat, but just waiting like this wasn’t ideal. Despite his good composure, even he felt the awkwardness in the hallway was too much. The main issue was it didn’t sound good if word got out that Wei Fangyi came to visit but Huo Beijiang hadn’t gotten up with his wife yet?
It wouldn’t sound good!
"Alright! Let’s go grab something to eat first." Wei Fangyi got up, pulling Jiang Yang along, and led the way to the cafeteria.
Jiang Yang was clearly not in a good mood, his delicate face puffed up with anger.
"Come on, don’t be mad!" Wei Fangyi, with a foolishly doting father look, coaxed softly as they walked, "Your sister’s eyes getting better is something to be happy about. If you’re upset, she’ll know and won’t be happy."
"My sister’s eyes recovered, and I was the last to find out. It’s too much," Jiang Yang pursed his lips. "It’s all Huo Beijiang’s fault!"
Minister Wei quickly agreed, "That’s right! It’s all Huo Beijiang’s fault. I’ve never seen a young man with more airs than him. I personally came here, and he’s still not up."
Ning Di listened from behind, and deeply sympathized with their leader. It really wasn’t the leader’s fault. They had returned to the hospital very late last night. His sister-in-law had a fever that didn’t go down at midnight, and the leader had taken care of her till dawn, hardly sleeping all night. And the leader hadn’t gotten decent rest in a long time. It would be a miracle if he could get up.
But Ning Di dared not say this to Minister Wei, just shook his head helplessly, and turned to ask Fu Xinwu, "Xinwu, have you had breakfast?"
Fu Xinwu glanced nonchalantly at Zuo Xinyao by his side, and raised the item he was carrying a little higher, "I brought breakfast from the school." The breakfast shop at the school gate was very popular, much liked by the students.
He had once gone to eat with Nan Fei, and his little aunt liked it very much, so he brought some this time.
"Great!" Ning Di nodded and then turned to Yu Fengji, "What about you, Commander Yu?"
Yu Fengji lowered his gaze, "I’ll just continue waiting." After he spoke, he cast a glance at the closed door before lowering his eyes again in silence.
Ning Di took the group from the 36th Division to the cafeteria for breakfast, leaving Fu Xinwu and Yu Fengji in the hallway. Originally, it didn’t feel like much, but now with just the two of them, the atmosphere suddenly grew a bit silent.
Fu Xinwu shifted slightly, secretly regretting not going to the cafeteria too.
Now there was only her and Yu Fengji, it felt awkward, she didn’t even know where to put her hands, so she peeked at Yu Fengji’s sculpted profile with her peripheral vision; all she could see was his well-defined side face, from cheek to jaw down to his collarbone, sharp and sexy.
