Back To The 80s-Chapter 355 - 365: Reunion_1
Lu Ruixue and Chen Dajun kept silent, following everyone else inside the house.
Wen Xiuqing, holding Xiaopang in her arms, greeted Zhou Siping with a smile, "I told you, you must be worry about Xiaolan."
Zhou Siping laughed and replied, "When this girl is at home, I find her a handful. Now she’s not at home, and I feel the house is too quiet."
After exchanging greetings with Zhou Siping, Wen Xiuqing glanced lightly at Lu Ruixue and Chen Dajun behind her but did not say a word.
Lu Aiguo rushed up to Ji Xiangdong excitedly. He stared at him for a while, tears welling up in his eyes, before he lunged forward and embraced his older brother, choking back tears as he exclaimed, "Big brother, where have you been all these years? It’s all because of that wicked woman Qin Ximei, otherwise, we wouldn’t have been separated for decades."
Ji Xiangdong was also heartbroken to hear this from Lu Aiguo, but from Lu Aiguo’s words, he realized that his departure from home was due to someone’s deliberate sabotage.
Seeing Lu Aiguo like this, Wen Xiuqing could no longer hold back her tears. Zhou Siping, his eyes reddening, consolingly said, "Big brother is back, that’s a good thing. When I heard about it, I was delighted all the way."
Fang Jing also stood off to the side, wiping away tears, some joy seemed to only be expressed through tears.
Lu Aiguo let go of Ji Xiangdong and wiped away his tears, "Now everything is finally okay, our family has truly reunited."
Lu Ruixue, pulling Chen Dajun forward, stammered out a greeting to Ji Xiangdong, "Big brother."
Ji Xiangdong smiled and nodded. When he looked at Chen Dajun, he couldn’t help but take a few more glances, a spark ignited in his eyes, and politely greeted him.
Gu Xiaobei went into the kitchen to prepare wonton soup for everyone, and Lu Zhanguo followed her in seeing she was not in a good mood.
"I didn’t know Chen Dajun was coming. I only learned about it when we arrived at the train station," Lu Zhanguo said softly next to Gu Xiaobei.
Stirring the wontons in the pot, Gu Xiaobei replied, "If they dare to make a fuss in our house, I’ll drive them away. You can’t object when that happens."
Lu Zhanguo chuckled and nodded, "You won’t need to drive them away. I’ll simply throw them out."
......
After breakfast, Lu Aiguo wanted to tease Bai Xiaolan but was dumbstruck when he found out that she was going to be his future sister-in-law.
Lu Aiguo looked at Ji Xiangdong in astonishment, "Big brother, are you really not considering it again?"
Ji Xiangdong arched his eyebrows, "You have objections?"
Bai Xiaolan joined in, laughing, "Lu the third, I’ve warned you before, but you didn’t listen. Now you’re in my hands, huh, hehe." A complacent smile spread across her face.
Zhou Siping lightly tapped Bai Xiaolan on the side, teasing her, "You’re a young lady, but do you have any shame?" She was very satisfied with Ji Xiangdong as her son-in-law. Furthermore, her in-laws were good friends of many years; it was perfect that they knew each other so well. The only thing she wasn’t satisfied with was Ji Xiangdong’s job.
No mother wants her daughter to marry far away, especially to such a remote and underdeveloped area. If her daughter were to marry there, wouldn’t that be the same as sending her to endure hardship?
"Will Xiangdong continue working there?" Zhou Siping couldn’t help but ask.
Bai Xiaolan replied, "It’s pretty good over there, and it’s definitely going to get better in the future."
Zhou Siping glared at her daughter, who was already leaning towards her future husband even before she was married.
Gu Xiaobei couldn’t help but laugh at the side. She wondered who was worrying about going to Shule River to suffer just a few days ago.
Ji Xiangdong seemed well-prepared and reassured her with a smile, "Aunt Bai, rest assured. I will have to work there for the time being, but not for too long."
Zhou Siping nodded in satisfaction only after hearing this response.
Gu Xiaobei noticed Lu Ruixue sitting quietly to one side without uttering a word. Her belly, which should have been bulging, was flat. She thought to herself, it seems the child wasn’t saved after all.
Lunch would proceed as planned at Wen Xiuqing’s house.
Lu Songyuan and Wen Xiuqing sat for a while before leaving to prepare lunch. When they left, they took Lu Ruixue and Chen Dajun with them.
Regarding Ji Xiangdong and Bai Xiaolan’s marriage, Lu Songyuan felt that they should set a day to sit down and discuss it thoroughly, as today’s occasion seemed a bit casual.
As soon as Lu Songyuan and the others left, Fang Jing pulled Gu Xiaobei and Bai Xiaolan into the room to chat, leaving Lu Aiguo and his brothers chatting in the living room. Zhou Siping felt tired after a long train journey and went to the master bedroom to rest.
As soon as Gu Xiaobei entered the room holding Mo Wang, she asked, "Did Ruixue lose the baby?"
Fang Jing nodded and said softly, "Ruixue said she fell by herself and lost the baby. We don’t really know what really happened. When we said we were leaving, Lu Ruixue suddenly said she wanted to come to the Capital City as well to see big brother. We couldn’t exactly stop her."
Gu Xiaobei sighed, their reasons seemed completely valid. "Did Aiguo tell her that big brother was found?" she asked.
Fang Jing paused before answering, "I don’t think so. Aiguo has been extremely busy lately, and besides, he’s also upset with her. He did not talk with her at all throughout the journey."
Gu Xiaobei was puzzled, "Then how did she know that big brother had returned?"
Fang Jing shook her head and added, "According to them, Chen Dajun doesn’t plan on going back after he’s here. He plans on finding something to do here."
Upon hearing this, Gu Xiaobei became a little unhappy. So, it looked like they planned on settling here.
Seeing that Gu Xiaobei was not in a good mood, Fang Jing changed the topic and told Bai Xiaolan, "I never expected us to be so destined for each other, we even became sisters-in-law."
Bai Xiaolan giggled, then turned to Gu Xiaobei and said, "You don’t have to feel bad. If that Chen Dajun dares to make trouble here, I’ll beat him up." She had heard about the past relationship between Lu Ruixue and Chen Dajun.
Gu Xiaobei said helplessly, "I feel nauseous every time I see him, and now he’s even come here to disrupt our peace."
Fang Jing shook her head and added, "Oh yes, we brought a TV for you guys. It’s still in the car of my second brother. I’ll ask Aiguo to carry it in."
"No need, we are going to my mom’s place for lunch later. Leave the TV there." Gu Xiaobei interrupted, feeling that it was good enough that their two children listened to the small loudspeakers for broadcasts every day.
The three brothers in the living room were also having a great chat. Lu Aiguo was forthright and spoke eloquently, retelling all the past events, "Big brother, now that you’re back, our family finally feels like a family. The way mom was today, I’ve never seen her like that before. It’s true that only medicine of the heart can heal the heart."
Ji Xiangdong felt a pang in his heart. After hearing about his own lost experience, he was heartbroken for Wen Xiuqing, whose life had been much tougher than his own. Seeing how Wen Xiuqing had been so cautious all along, he felt she must still be feeling guilty inside.
Lu Zhanguo was deep in thought all this while. He finally asked Lu Aiguo, "Why did Chen Dajun come? What has he been doing in the Capital City lately?"
As soon as Lu Aiguo heard this, he got angry and responded, "What else, acting like a slacker every day, fooling around here and there. Look at our precious little sister. The child is gone, yet she still follows Chen Dajun. What deep love!" His words were fraught with sarcasm.
"Is Chen Dajun planning on staying in the Capital City and not going back?" Lu Zhanguo asked, frowning.
Lu Aiguo replied in surprise, "You’ve guessed it right. That was precisely their plan."
Lu Zhanguo nodded. He had noticed at the train station that Chen Dajun’s eyes were scattered and he was glancing around. Moreover, he looked bad, which was a result of prolonged fright.
