Back To The 80s-Chapter 320 - 330: Difference_1
Gu Xiaobei was too lazy to deal with Shi Xiuying. To feed such a small child with red-braised pork, wasn’t that reckless? Red-braised pork was so greasy, the delicate stomach of a child couldn’t handle it.
Wen Xiuqing was eating her meal with her head down, ignoring Shi Xiuying as well.
Seeing that everyone was ignoring her, Shi Xiuying quickly attended to Zhang Lin, feeding him dumplings, pouring him water, and constantly reminding him to eat slowly so he wouldn’t choke.
Gu Xiaobei felt like this grandmother was treating him like an emperor.
After eating, Zhang Lin insisted on leaving. He felt like he would implode if he stayed a minute longer. Shi Xiuying had no choice but to follow him home.
Fang Jing sighed, "This aunt spoils her grandson so much that he’s worse than my Yueyue. Yueyue can feed himself." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Gu Xiaobei burst into laughter, and said, "Yueyue has been staying at his grandmother’s for several days, isn’t he supposed to be picked up today to celebrate the beginning of the Chinese New Year?"
Fang Jing glanced at Wen Xiuqing, "Mom, it’s the beginning of the Chinese New Year. I’m going over to my mom’s later, and I won’t be home tonight."
Wen Xiuqing was sitting on the couch holding Mo Wang, she thought for a moment, "I’ve prepared steamed dumplings and bean sauce. Take some home later."
Fang Jing nodded in agreement. Actually, over the years, Wen Xiuqing had always paid great attention to etiquette when it came to her in-laws. She would prepare the appropriate gifts for every festive occasion. However, her temper was strange, often flaring up inexplicably. Even when she did something good, people didn’t seem to appreciate it.
Fang Jing was a carefree person, she didn’t hold grudges. Seeing Wen Xiuqing’s temper improved, she was pleased. After all, they had to live together. Who’d want a house full of quarrels every day?
The atmosphere in the Lu family was getting better, but that between Lu Ruixue and Chen Dajun was getting worse and worse.
The five thousand yuan given by Lu Aiguo was quickly spent on food, and they both even bought a Seagull watch each. The money in their hands was dwindling fast.
Lu Ruixue was lying in bed, discontented, "Can’t you stop being so careless with money? Why do you always have to pay when you go out for meals with your old buddies? Our family doesn’t have that much money, we’ll go broke if we keep spending like this."
Chen Dajun impatiently responded, "Can’t you stop nagging? Aren’t you tired of it? Besides, this is me paving the way for our future."
Lu Ruixue retorted, "Just don’t get fooled by your so-called friends again. Anyway, we don’t have much money left, we should start being frugal. In another seven months, our baby will be born, and there will be a lot of expenses then. You shouldn’t take it lightly."
"Alright, alright, I get it," Chen Dajun responded dismissively.
Seeing Chen Dajun’s impatient look, Lu Ruixue felt wronged. Her third brother never treated her like this before. Although he used to nag her every day, he never neglected her needs.
With these thoughts, Lu Ruixue cried in her bed.
When Chen Dajun saw her, he was even more impatient, "It’s almost New Year, can’t you stop being so miserable? You’re annoying."
Upon hearing this, Lu Ruixue sat up straight suddenly, staring at him, "Chen Dajun, you’ve grown quite bold to speak to me like this."
Chen Dajun, a spoilt ruffian, snorted upon seeing Lu Ruixue, "I’m not afraid of you now. Your brothers from your family aren’t backing you up anymore. I’d like to see how tough you can get."
"Chen Dajun, you’re an absolute jerk! If it weren’t for you constantly playing the victim and begging me, would I have caused such a scene with my family? Would my third brother disown me?" Lu Ruixue pointed at Chen Dajun, cursing in anger.
"Alright, enough with your drama queen act. Aren’t you embarrassed? If you’re so tough, go back to the Lu family and throw a fit."
With just one sentence from Chen Dajun, Lu Ruixue immediately deflated. Ever since her third brother gave her five thousand yuan, she hadn’t gone back home. She wanted to, but her remaining shred of pride wouldn’t let her.
Plus, she didn’t believe that her third brother, who always humored her, would disown her just like that. She initially thought that even after her tantrum, things would go back to the way they were before - her third brother would give in, and would pick her up a few days later. But this time, Lu Aiguo never showed up, and she suddenly felt uncertain.
Lu Ruixue cried for a while on her bed, then got up to get dressed, put on her scarf, and prepared to go out.
"Where are you going in this cold weather? Can you stop making trouble?" Chen Dajun glared at Lu Ruixue, his face full of displeasure.
Sniffling, Lu Ruixue said, "I’m going home. I want you to see whether my family still cares about me or not." With that, she stormed out the door.
As Lu Ruixue approached the entrance of her family compound with tear-filled eyes, she saw Lu Aiguo wearing a big hat, riding his bicycle home.
Lu Ruixue’s tears began to flow freely as she watched Lu Aiguo. Barely able to articulate her words, she called out, "Third Brother."
Seeing Lu Ruixue like this, Lu Aiguo’s heart ached as well. He got off his bicycle, his face expressionless as he glanced at Lu Ruixue, then asked indifferently, "Why are you here?"
Lu Ruixue burst into tears, speaking through sobs, "Third Brother, are you really not going to take care of me anymore?"
Lu Aiguo looked at his sister, then shook his head and laughed, "Lu Ruixue, I’m scared of taking care of you. Really, I’m terrified - both of you. If you’re okay, I’m going to go home now."
"Brother, Chen Dajun bullies me, and you’re not going to do anything about it?" Lu Ruixue said, unwilling to give up.
Lu Aiguo looked at her coldly, forced himself to be stern, and said, "This is all your own choice. You once said you’d be content to eat coarse grain and vegetable soup as long as you were with Chen Dajun. So why are you crying now?" With that, he pushed his bicycle and started walking toward the courtyard.
When Lu Ruixue saw that Lu Aiguo really wasn’t going to help her, she begged through her tears, "Third Brother, isn’t it enough that I admit I was wrong? You’ve forgiven me before, why can’t you do it this time?"
Lu Aiguo stopped, turned to look at Lu Ruixue, and said softly, "Lu Ruixue, familial affection requires maintenance. It’s not something you can trample on whenever you feel like it, and then pretend everything’s okay just by saying ’sorry’. Sadly, my heart isn’t that strong. In the future, live your life properly, and stop messing around." With that, he rode his bicycle home, feeling utterly disappointed in his sister.
After crying for a while on the spot, Lu Ruixue wanted to go home, but didn’t dare to. After hesitating for a while, she finally turned around to go back to her own home.
Lu Aiguo entered the house with a grim look. Wen Xiuqing was knitting in the living room. Seeing Lu Aiguo, she said, "Fang Jing has returned to her mother’s home. You should go there later too."
"There’s no need. We’ve agreed that she and Yueyue would spend the start of the Chinese New Year over there while I’d celebrate it at home." With that, he slouched on the sofa.
Hearing the sounds from downstairs, Lu Zhanguo came down and saw Lu Aiguo with a worried look on his face. He asked, "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing. I just saw Ruixue at the door. It’s a bit annoying," Lu Aiguo said, exasperated, running his hands through his hair.
Lu Zhanguo could guess what had happened and didn’t bring it up. He changed the subject, "Are you busy tomorrow?"
Lu Aiguo thought about it, "No, is there something going on?"
"Then come with me tomorrow to run some errands," Lu Zhanguo said.
"Alright, where to?"
