Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Birth Mother Comes Knocking

After they sat down, they noticed the photographs on the wall, some of which were taken during outings, or family portraits.

Among them, a few photos on the yacht caught Qu Junshan’s attention, "Is this Mr. Stephen?"

Upon hearing the name, Lin Qin was somewhat surprised, "You know him?"

Qu Junshan shook his head and explained, "Mr. Stephen invested quite a few projects in An City back in the 80s. At that time, I was working in the city government building and accompanied the leaders to have a meal with him."

Being a foreigner and a super wealthy and influential big boss, he was hard to forget.

Lin Qin realized and explained, "I took the kids to South Port for fishing, and coincidentally, government staff accompanied Mr. Stephen for an on-site inspection. It’s quite interesting, Mr. Stephen went sea fishing for several days without much success, but my kids followed him on the boat and had a great harvest. Mr. Stephen was very happy and even gifted each of them a set of fishing equipment.

The little fellows were reluctant to use them and have cherished them till now."

Qu Junshan knew a bit about it and immediately looked at the Chen family’s children in shock, then nodded contentedly, exclaiming, "Later the project was agreed upon. Do you know how much the investment for that project was?"

Everyone shook their heads.

Qu Junshan’s mouth twitched, and he gestured with his hand, "Ten billion."

"Hiss!" Everyone gasped in surprise.

Yang Caifeng hurriedly hugged Chen Xinyue in her arms, "So these kids can be considered major contributors!"

Lin Qin smiled, "Whether they’re contributors or not isn’t clear, but I know we can go cook now. A new batch of seafood just arrived at dawn; you decide how to cook it."

Initially, she had planned for it, but finding out the visitors were colleagues, she handed the decision over to them.

Yang Caifeng was unceremonious and went out with Lin Qin.

The men made tea in the living room.

Qu Zhiyang was always thinking about playing ball.

Chen Ruiyu told the elders and then took him out.

Qu Junshan saw this and nodded secretly; the Chen family’s upbringing is really good; each child is more stable than the next.

On his way to the gym, Qu Zhiyang was still a bit dazed, "Bro, is this really your family? I thought your home was ordinary; who knew you were the island owner! You’ve kept this from me quite well!"

Chen Ruiyu rolled his eyes at him and sneered, "Sounds like you’re just the same! Didn’t hear you say your uncle and aunt are in the system before either; we’re both half a dozen."

Qu Zhiyang touched his nose, quite unconvinced, "I always said young master is not short of money, but you couldn’t tell."

Xu Kang couldn’t stand it, "Who continually flaunts having money? The security now is just a bit better than before; there’s still plenty of traffickers and villains; we need to learn to be low-key, do you understand low-key?"

"Don’t understand!" Qu Zhiyang decisively shook his head.

Receiving several eye rolls from the crowd.

A group of people laughed and joked as they went into the gym.

Seeing the car setup inside, Qu Zhiyang exclaimed again.

The four played inside until noon and then went back for lunch.

Lunch was a seafood feast; the restaurant charged dearly for large crabs and saltwater shrimp, but here they were boiled by the pot and could be eaten as a staple to feel full.

Plus, some deep-sea fish, big squid, and so on.

In short, this meal had everyone grinning with delight.

After the meal, there was a fruit platter.

After filling their bellies, a group of people sat in the shade under the eaves, enjoying the cool river breeze.

Yang Caifeng felt drowsy, turned to look at Lin Qin beside her, and couldn’t help but say, "Your home’s environment is really too comfortable; no wonder you don’t go out during vacations; it’s really enviable!"

Lin Qin tugged at her mouth, smiling, "Don’t envy me; the wind in the alleys during summer is particularly cool; as long as you’re willing, you can have this kind of life anywhere. By the way, has your son estimated his scores? Which university does he plan to apply to?"

Talking about the child’s grades, Yang Caifeng immediately perked up, "I want him to go to the capital or Shanghai, if not, Guangdong Province; the economy in these places is good; it’s worthwhile for him to expand his horizons. What about your kids?"

Lin Qin pondered, "Probably the same places, but the siblings have their own ideas. I can only give suggestions, can’t influence their decisions; will have to wait until the final acceptance letters to know."

Yang Caifeng nodded thoughtfully.

In the afternoon, the men took the kids to fish on a boat in the river.

Lin Qin took Yang Caifeng to the field to pick things; anything she liked she took home.

The family played until around five before reluctantly leaving.

On the way back, Yang Caifeng asked Qu Zhiyang, "Have you thought about which university to apply to? If possible, it’s best to go with Ruiyu and them to look after each other."

Qu Zhiyang was a bit surprised, "Mom! You set the boundaries for me before, how come you’re changing your mind now?"

Yang Caifeng was choked, glaring angrily, "Don’t you want to be with your buddies?"

Qu Zhiyang suddenly had nothing to say.

In no time, it was the day to fill out college applications.

As Yang Caifeng said, Qu Zhiyang referred to the schools Chen Ruiyu and Chen Xinyue applied to for his application.

After submitting the applications, they waited for results and prepared things for college.

Since the admission letters hadn’t arrived yet, the adults kept things low-key and didn’t speak outside until the acceptance letters arrived.

Nanyu celebrated with an hour of fireworks.

Passersby in Nanxi stopped to investigate.

On the water, fishermen Zhou Shuifang and Chen Yongding followed the sound to visit.

"From afar, I heard your family setting off fireworks for so long. What’s going on here?" Zhou Shuifang impatiently asked as soon as she came ashore.

Chen Wenjun, with a bright face, greeted them, "Aunt, all three of my kids have been accepted into universities in the capital; I’m so happy! We’re hosting today; come on, hurry inside."

Zhou Shuifang and Chen Yongding were shocked, still somewhat incredulous.

Once seated, the couple looked at the Chen family’s three kids, asked carefully, and learned they were indeed all admitted to Capital University, albeit not together, leaving them unsure how to praise.

The couple had a meal at Nanyu and immediately shared the news with acquaintances upon returning to the village.

A couple of days later, a woman floated a boat at Nanyu’s mouth, hovering, seemingly waiting for something.

She waited until the big gate opened, someone came out, and then she directed someone to row her closer.

Looking at the unfamiliar face, the woman tentatively asked, "Is Chen Wenjun home?"

Lin Yi carefully examined the woman, confirmed no recognition, and his eyes carried a few analytical looks, "What matter?"

He Chunhong pulled out a smile and said, "I am Ping’an’s mother; I’ve come today to find my son."

Lin Yi’s expression instantly darkened somewhat, his tone cooled significantly, "Sorry, I can’t decide this matter; let me go inside and ask. If the child is willing to see you, then you can come in."
