Chapter 178: Chapter 178: Matchmaking

Bai Junjun noisily tried to jump off the boat, making Gao Lei terrified. He quickly pulled her back, "Slow down, no need to rush."

Bai Junjun’s pretty face turned red. Due to the risk of falling into the water, she didn’t dare to struggle.

The group entered the wide-open gate.

Bai Junjun was immediately stunned by the scenery inside. On both sides of the cement road, several peach and plum blossoms were in full bloom, with petals scattered underneath. Behind a few trees were rice fields, and beyond that were vegetable plots. The slopes were planted with plenty of fruit trees, and in the distance, the sound of poultry could faintly be heard.

At the end of the cement road stood a beautiful large Western-style building. Behind it at an angle was another structure with graffiti on it, its purpose unknown.

"Oh my goodness! This place is like a paradise. Sister Qin, is all of this your family’s?"

Faced with Bai Junjun’s incredulous gaze, Lin Qin smiled and nodded, "The whole island is."

Bai Junjun suddenly realized, "No wonder at the start of the semester you would bring a bunch of fruits every day. If I had such a big area to grow fruits, I’d bring fruits to the dorm every day too!"

Lin Qin chuckled, introducing the crops in the fields as they walked by.

As they chatted, the group climbed the steps and entered the yard.

Lin Yi smiled warmly and said, "It’s rare to have guests tonight. I’ll make a few extra dishes, and you all should stay to eat."

"Sure thing! Uncle, I’ll give you a hand!" Gao Lei was eager to please, evidently trying to play the role of a good man in front of Bai Junjun.

Lin Yi looked at him in surprise.

"No, no. You go inside and rest. I’ll ask my niece-in-law to help me."

Lin Yi declined Gao Lei’s offer and called Huang Yuezhen to join him. The two of them carried baskets and headed to the back.

Bai Junjun was very curious, "Sister Qin, what’s Uncle going to do?"

"Collect chicken, duck, and goose eggs, or maybe catch a chicken or duck, or even scoop up some fish. My dad will organize everything. Let’s head inside!"

Lin Qin led the two into the hall.

Bai Junjun and Gao Lei immediately noticed the photos hanging on the wall.

They were shocked and crowded over.

"Sister-in-law, you took the kids out to sea? This was taken on a yacht, right!" Gao Lei quickly realized the unusual background of the photo, as the yacht seemed to be a luxury one.

Lin Qin nodded her head and explained, "That’s Mr. Stephen’s yacht. He invited me and the kids for a sea fishing trip and took quite a few pictures for us."

Bai Junjun pointed to a man in the picture and said jokingly, "My cousin was there too! What kind of event was this?"

Lin Qin, a bit puzzled, moved closer to take a careful look and guessed, "This should be a government official."

Bai Junjun nodded, "Yes, my cousin works in the government, but I don’t know which department he’s in now. Sister Qin, you’re amazing!"

Needless to say, just looking at the photos, one could tell how capable Lin Qin was.

Seeing Bai Junjun praise Lin Qin, Gao Lei quickly chimed in, "If you like it, I can arrange for a yacht trip too. We’ll take Wenjun and Sister-in-law with us!"

Bai Junjun’s face turned crimson and she feigned anger, "Who wants to go to sea with you!"

Lin Qin watched them bicker but said nothing, only smiling.

Soon, the sound of children running could be heard from upstairs.

Very quickly, four older children brought the youngest, Chen Ruiming, downstairs, and Lin Qin hurriedly ushered them to greet the guests.

Gao Lei, seeing a row of little ones, blurted out, "Sister-in-law, when did you have so many kids here?"

"These two are my nephews, and these three are my children!" Lin Qin explained, speechless for a moment.

Gao Lei immediately took out his wallet and gave each child ten yuan, "I came in a hurry, didn’t bring any gifts, so here’s a New Year red envelope for each of you."

"That’s too much!" Lin Qin politely declined.

Gao Lei wouldn’t take no for an answer and insisted the kids accept.

Bai Junjun also took out money from her own bag to give the kids red envelopes.

At this, Lin Qin firmly refused, "You’re still a student! You shouldn’t be giving them red envelopes. Hurry and put that away, or you won’t be allowed to come next time!"

"Exactly, I can do it!" Gao Lei supported Lin Qin’s words, coaxing the children to go play.

While Lin Yi was cooking, the three of them sipped tea and chatted, keeping boredom at bay.

Just as the meal was nearly ready, Chen Wenjun returned, "Ah Qin, today a deep-sea fishing boat came back to port with lots of rare goodies. I bought some; come have a look."

Hearing the voice, the three rushed outside together.

"Wenjun, what good stuff did you bring back!" Gao Lei shouted excitedly.

Only then did Chen Wenjun realize there were guests at home and smiled, "Perfect timing! Let’s try some later. This one’s tuna, which can be eaten raw. Boss Lv arranged for someone to prepare it for me—cut it into slices, packed tightly in a big box.

There’s also kingfish, a box of lobsters, large abalones, sea urchins, and giant squid—things we don’t usually see around here. There’s more on the boat; I’ll go get it."

Gao Lei quickly went over to help.

Once everything was moved into the yard, Bai Junjun was tempted and asked, "Brother-in-law, could you sell me some? My dad loves seafood, especially things he hasn’t seen before."

Gao Lei, hearing this, immediately pulled Chen Wenjun aside, and the two whispered to each other for quite a while.

When they returned, Chen Wenjun split the seafood, giving half to Gao Lei, "He’s paying, so you can discuss it with him."

Gao Lei grinned in satisfaction.

Bai Junjun was speechless, seeking help from Lin Qin, "Sister Qin!"

Lin Qin pinched her cheek, shrugged, and spread her hands, "With just this much left, we won’t have enough for ourselves. But talk to Gao Lei, and I’m sure he’ll let you have it."

Bai Junjun puffed her cheeks in frustration, looking like a pufferfish, but instead of appearing fierce, she looked quite cute.

Gao Lei was so mesmerized that he couldn’t think straight, foolishly smiling, "I’ll drive you home later and drop off the seafood for Uncle."

Bai Junjun had no other choice, leaving behind, "I’ll pay you back," before turning into the living room.

Chen Wenjun gave Gao Lei a helpless look and hurried to move the remaining seafood to the kitchen, planning the dishes with Lin Yi.

That evening, Lin Yi and Chen Wenjun prepared a grand seafood feast, leaving Gao Lei and Bai Junjun so full they nearly leaned against the wall for support.

Bai Junjun even exclaimed that she wanted to live on Nanyu permanently.

Gao Lei began contemplating buying the deserted island next to Nanyu. He planned to transform it to be just like Nanyu, believing Bai Junjun would love it.

Bai Junjun had no clue about his thoughts; if she did, she’d surely be scared off.

After the two returned from Nanyu,

Gao Lei diligently sent the seafood to Bai’s father, immediately winning his favor.

Initially indifferent towards him, Bai’s father suddenly put on a smile, and even Bai’s mother invited Gao Lei for a meal at home.

Bai Junjun instantly felt like she had dug her own grave.

She sensed that something wasn’t quite right, but couldn’t pinpoint the problem just yet.
