Baby System: I'm the Beast World's Only Hope!-Chapter 57: Episode : Baby Drax meets the Puppies.
"More pups?" Kaelen questioned.
"More Hatchlings?" Zarek asked too.
"Nope, more children that aren’t pups nor hatchlings. I will have to mate with other species." Roxy said, her expression serious.
Their faces morphed from confusion to dread and rage.
"That cannot happen!" Zarek snarled.
" I am more than enough to protect you," Kaelen growled.
Roxy facepalmed. She knew it would give this effect. They would never agree, but it was out of her hands, too. She had to solve every puzzle piece of this world so she could return to earth.
She gestured to the window, toward the East.
"The Tiger King knows," Roxy said.
"The Tiger King knows?" Zarek turned to face Kaelen, whose face had turned black with fury. It was never his fault to expose her to him, but he just appeared out of nowhere and found Roxy and him at the bank.
Zarek already got his answer. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"I will wipe out his whole clan," Zarek growled, about to leave and face the whole Tiger clan, but Roxy ran and stood in front of the big lizard.
"No one is wiping anything, you big fat lizard, sit back down," Roxy ordered, and Zarek immediately complied.
Like a loyal dog.
"You two better learn to share this space," Roxy warned, "And you better learn to work together. Because this?"
She gestured to the room full of babies, fruit, and two dead deer.
"This is just the beginning. There are seven more clans out there. And I have a feeling..."
She looked at her flat stomach, knowing it wouldn’t stay that way for long.
She wanted it to stay that way forever.
Fucking hell, I have made pretty bad choices in this world, and this one was my biggest one.
Yet I was homing it quite enthusiastically.
Hopefully, I don’t forget my home on earth.
"I have a feeling I’m going to be pregnant for a very, very long time. So buckle up, boys. We are just getting started."
And I might die from exhaustion.
But having dicks at my disposal, ain’t such a bad idea.
Zarek didn’t like this. Neither did Kaelen. But neither of them left because they knew that they couldn’t afford to lose her.
Neither can they accept losing her to other males.
Silently, a competition was brewing without a proper war.
Zarek and Kaelen stood on opposite sides of the room, glaring at each other with a mixture of mutual hatred and shared existential dread.
They were not taking the Seven More Husbands declaration lightly.
"Stop looking at each other like you’re deciding who tastes better," Roxy sighed, breaking the standoff.
She walked over to the wooden table, her body feeling strangely light now that the triplets were out, though her muscles still hummed with the phantom pain of labor.
She reached into her diaper bag and pulled out the linked-heart stone. It sat heavy and warm in her palm, pulsing with a faint, pink light.
"A calling stone?" Kaelen asked, tilting his head. He sniffed it. "It smells of... magic."
Of course it was magic, how would it be possible for it to do a video call?
"It’s a phone, Wolfy," Roxy explained, tapping the smooth surface. "And it cost me a quarter of a million LP, so it better have a good reception."
The stone hummed. A beam of light shot up, projecting a shimmering, blue-tinted hologram into the center of the rustic cabin.
Lyra was sitting on a stone bench in the cave, looking exhausted but alert; her stomach was big now. In her lap, a chubby toddler with messy black hair and scales dusting his shoulders was chewing on a crystal.
"My Queen!" Lyra gasped. The hologram shook as she scrambled to bring the stone closer. "It’s been a while!"
Roxy smiled, her throat tightening at the sight of her firstborn. "Yeah, surprisingly, Zarek didn’t kill everyone. Ideally."
"Ma!"
Drax’s head snapped up, showing his face. He spat out the crystal and lifted his chubby hand toward the projection, his golden eyes wide. He slapped the image with his chubby hands. "Ma! Ma!"
"Hi, baby," Roxy cooed, waving at the hologram. "Look at you! You’ve gotten so big! Are you eating your vegetables?"
Drax shook his head. "No! Meat!"
"He is... spirited," Lyra apologized, looking harried. "He refuses the mash. He only wants the charred steak."
"Like father, like son," Roxy muttered, shooting a glare at Zarek.
Zarek puffed out his chest, looking smug. "A King doesn’t need potatoes; he needs meat to grow."
"Lyra," Roxy said, her voice turning serious. "Pack your bags. And pack Drax’s things. I want you to come to the Iron-Wood. It’s safe now."
Lyra hesitated, looking at the background of the hologram, the wooden walls, the furs. "To the Wolf Lands? My Queen, is it... wise? Will they welcome us?"
"Anything for Roxy," Kaelen interjected, stepping into the frame of the hologram.
Lyra yelped, nearly dropping the stone. "A Wolf!"
"That’s Kaelen," Roxy introduced casually. "He’s the Alpha. He’s... well, he’s part of the family now. Sort of. It’s complicated. Just pack the bags."
That way, she could aid Lyra with her childbirth.
Zarek stepped forward, pushing Kaelen out of the frame. "Lyra. Tell Vorian to assemble the Elite Guard. You will be escorted. I do not trust the dogs to guide you."
"Vorian?" Lyra’s face lit up, a blush staining her scaled cheeks. "I haven’t seen him for a while since you left."
"Let him take you," Zarek stated, ignoring her blushing face...
"We leave at once, My King!" Lyra bowed, and the hologram flickered out.
Roxy lowered the stone, letting out a long breath. "Okay. That is in place."
"Vorian?" Kaelen asked, his eyes narrowing. "The Dragon who broke my beta’s arm?"
"The very same," Zarek smirked. "Try not to bite him. He has a temper."
"If he steps out of line," Kaelen warned, "I will not be responsible for where my spear lands."
Roxy rolled her eyes. Here they go again.
"If you two start another brawl while I have four children in this house," Roxy said, standing up and walking over to the crib where the triplets were sleeping, "I will put you both in time-out. I will leave you there until you learn to share."
The threat silenced them effectively.
***
It was mid-afternoon when the shadow fell over the settlement.
The wolves in the courtyard tensed, weapons drawn, as a massive shape descended from the sky. Vorian landed in the center of the clearing, the wind from his wings kicking up dust. He shifted mid-landing, holding a large, secure basket.
Lyra slid off his back as he transformed.
"We are here!" Vorian announced, his voice booming. He looked around the Wolf Fortress with a sneer. "It smells of... wet dog."
"And you smell of bad attitude," Vorn barked, stepping forward. The two betas locked eyes, electricity crackling between them.
"Play nice!" Roxy shouted from the porch.
She walked down the steps, flanked by Zarek and Kaelen.
Lyra opened the basket.
"MA!"
Drax didn’t wait for assistance. He scrambled out of the basket, tumbled onto the grass, and bolted. For a toddler, he was terrifyingly fast. He ran on two legs, his little tail acting as a rudder, his arms outstretched.
"Drax!" Roxy knelt down, ignoring the mud.
He slammed into her, nearly knocking her over. His scales were hard against her skin, his body radiating heat like a furnace. He buried his face in her neck, inhaling her scent deeply.
"Ma... gone," he accused, pulling back to glare at her with teary golden eyes. "Ma go bye-bye."
"I know, baby," Roxy whispered, her heart breaking. She kissed his chubby cheeks. "I’m sorry. Mama had to go get your brothers and sister."
"Sister?" Drax blinked.
"And brother," Roxy corrected. "Come on. Let me show you."
She stood up, holding his hand. Zarek walked beside them, looking down at his son with a mixture of pride and awkwardness. He patted Drax on the head. Drax turned his head and bit his hand.
"He really is my son," Zarek noted, shaking his hand.
They entered the cabin.
The triplets were awake. They were nestled in the crib, a pile of silver, black, and grey fuzz. They were making tiny, high-pitched squeaking sounds.
Drax walked up to the crib. He was tall enough to peer over the edge.
He stared. The puppies stared back.
Drax poked the silver one (the boy) in the nose. The puppy sneezed.
Drax giggled.
"Puppy!" Drax declared, looking up at Roxy. "Drax eat?"
"No!" Roxy and Kaelen shouted in unison.
