Chapter 103: Vip guest

The Captain flinched. "What do you members by that...." Come to think of it, where’s the other guy?!

I raised my right hand, transforming it to normal. "Do you know about a giant fish found on floor 92? It’s an electric type monster that fights with brutally compressed electricity."

"What are you talking about? Where’s your other teammate?" He turned his back to me as he watched the door—maybe it was a trap. The other one would be sneaking on them.

I continued speaking calmly as if I didn’t hear him. "A few months ago, your leaders ordered the whole fish because they’re one of the tastiest delicacies. They sent it to the butcher house where it was stripped of flesh.

"The bones were left there because it’s expensive and no one will buy it. But then I came along."

The assassins were getting nervous because I didn’t appear intimidated at all, and the Captain was putting off killing me because he wanted some questions about my teammates.

I inched closer to the window behind him. "I bought the bones and made it mine. Ah, I guess you don’t know what I mean by that."

"I’ll kill you," the captain said flatly. "But what about your teammate?"

I paused and frowned as if I was just realizing Temur wasn’t with me. "Where do you think he might be? Let me think...ah! Of course, we didn’t trust the silent dagger, and we made plans. I’ll take care of this place and he’ll do the other one!"

The Captain turned back to me. "Your teammates are going fight the silent dagger." He said flatly.

"Well," I smiled. "Not exactly but Kim is going to get hit pretty hard tonight. But the other base won’t reply quickly to him because first, they are silently competing with each other and second, the main force of your organization isn’t even in their block."

The Captain’s eyes widened. "How do you know about that? We have to....kill him!" He shouted.

The silent daggers leaped, weapons flashing, but I was ready for them. My ring shimmered and chunks of bones poured out, immediately burning with green fire.

"Close your eyes!" I said and pushed my right hand forward. My force power blasted the bones forward, streaks of green almost as fast as bullets.

Immediately, they got within their reach. I activated the bones. There was a pause—a split second that everyone just knew something horrible was about to happen.

Boom! Kaboom!

The air sizzled as bright blue light flashed, followed by the explosion of electricity that sounded like the roar of thunder. The room shuddered and I was blasted outside. The electric force arced high and threw the ceiling away; wood splintered and glass crunched.

"Uhh..." I groaned. My left shoulder ached and my head felt like it had been split with an axe from the pain I was feeling. I looked towards the guest room and...it was simply gone. I couldn’t hold back a smile that looked like a grimace. "Not bad...not...."

My eyes rolled and darkness took over.

---

I knew Cormac would hear the explosion, hell, the whole town must have. But he had been waiting for it, or at the very least been told about it.

I imagined him looking at the small paper in his hand, the words written on it:

-"We know you don’t want to get involved and we respect that, but you won’t be fighting. We want you to be close to the black axe territory where you can come in if you hear an explosion. Torvan planned to go all out tonight. You will simply be there to assist him escape. Don’t worry, all the black axe would have been taken care of by then. We will pay you well." –

He hadn’t believed it, two brats would take care of the Black Axe...no, just one of us? I could imagine him laughing but also being curious. So he went there and when nightfall came, he moved as close as he could.

He heard the assassins moving. He heard the sound of fighting and then the explosion.

I could picture him shuddering as his boot crunched on pieces of burnt wood. "They...he actually took care of the Black Axe. There’s no sign of life, only you, Torvan."

I sighed. Who were these boys? I briefly remembered the conversation on his flying ship when coming here. "Very well, I will see if you two can really climb to the top."

EARLIER

Temur waited until the time was right and then began to walk towards the gate of the silent dagger; it was the place of one of their leaders, Kim. "But it’s Kim we have something to tell."

The place seemed more imposing in the night, but Temur didn’t come without a plan. In fact, for this one he was going to have to calm down and do it like me.

"What are you doing here?" A figure materialized as if from the darkness itself.

Temur shook his head. The silent dagger assassins were very capable as always. He flashed his card, Cormac’s VIP card. "I’m going for the most expensive."

They led him into the building and into the underground. As they walked the hallway, Temur imagined Kim’s guard crawling towards his office and waiting for him. He smirked; things were going as planned, for now.

Kim was already waiting in his office, wearing his usual warm smile. But was it Temur’s imagination? It seemed shadowed.

"Leader Kim."

"Ah, it’s our VIP guest! I don’t imagine I’ll see you on such...a night." Kim was surprised. It wasn’t something that happened often because he sells information and he can see the flow of events with what he gathered.

Temur wasn’t supposed to be here; he should have been with me. This could only mean two things, either they’d betrayed each other, or they thought what they were looking for was here. Kim didn’t think it was the first one.

"I’m just here to ask you something," Temur smiled. "You can charge me if you want."
