Attention Sir, I Have Your Heart Handcuffed!-Chapter 407 - 285: I Know, You’re Avoiding (2 Updates 1)
Tang Yanqing raised an eyebrow with a smile, his gaze sliding off the single-layer coated glass before landing back on Qi Xiuqi’s face: "Senior brother is an excellent detective. Whether you’ve seen someone or not, you should know in your heart. Why bother using such a question? If it were me, I would simply say ’We’ve met’ or ’We haven’t met’—without the question mark."
Qi Xiuqi narrowed his eyes.
Tang Yanqing shrugged and chuckled lightly: "Besides, with such a handsome face like mine, if Senior Brother had seen me, you’d definitely remember it. So why ask ’Have we met?’"
Behind the glass, Shi Nian felt her cheeks suddenly grow hot; she quietly glanced at Guan Liang beside her, quickly raising a hand to her forehead.
Qi Xiuqi was at a loss for words, staring intently at Tang Yanqing.
Tang Yanqing’s words seemed playful but were directly to the point: the master had said that for an excellent detective, one must have "piercing eyes." If you’ve seen someone, you must remember their features at a glance, and then in a crowd, you must be able to pick them out immediately. If you lack this sharp vision, don’t be a detective.
Tang Yanqing patiently leaned forward, hands supporting the table, gazing down at Qi Xiuqi: "Now tell me, have we met?"
Qi Xiuqi bit his teeth lightly, then closed his eyes: "We haven’t met!"
Tang Yanqing laughed softly, suddenly stood up, and turned towards the door: "It’s getting late. Senior Brother still has the task of guarding Father closely. You must be tired, get some rest early."
At this, Shi Nian’s heart relaxed quietly, settling back in place.
Haven’t met, that’s great.
Tang Yanqing walked to the door with ease, about to open it when Qi Xiuqi suddenly stood up, with fists pressed against the table.
"I haven’t seen your face, but I have seen you!"
Shi Nian, whose heart had just settled, suddenly felt it lifted again in an instant.
Qi Xiuqi was somewhat agitated; his shoulders raised. His eyes burning intensely on Tang Yanqing: "I recognize your way of speaking, your reasoning thought. Mr. Tang, am I right?"
By the door, Tang Yanqing paused for a moment before turning back. He was still aloof, but the casualness from before was gone.
"I said, it’s late, you’re tired. When people get tired, they think differently, so I suggest you go back and rest first. Rest well, and we can talk tomorrow."
After he finished speaking, his gaze still glanced toward the single-layer coated glass.
Qi Xiuqi disagreed: "No, my thinking is very clear now, and I’m not the least bit sleepy. Mr. Tang, I have seen you, online."
Shi Nian could tell Qi Xiuqi was trying his best to maintain calm, but his body language still betrayed his excitement.
Tang Yanqing seemed not to have heard, lowered his head to look at his watch: "It’s indeed late. I just got back from Hong Kong, tired. If Senior Brother won’t rest, I will go rest first. Talk later, bye."
After speaking, Tang Yanqing walked out the door indifferently, standing in the corridor to take a breather, unexpectedly seeing the door of the observation room open, Shi Nian standing quietly at the door looking at him.
He frowned; her expression gave him a sense of foreboding.
Sure enough, before he could speak, she glanced over clearly and calmly: "Professor, the moment you bowed your head in front of Xiuqi, even pretending to look at your watch, you were actually avoiding. I know the professor doesn’t want people to see it, but there’s no choice—the professor taught us too well."
He took a deep breath, raising his face: "Yes, you saw correctly."
She stepped forward, right before him, lifting her charming face, gentle yet firm: "Professor, what are you avoiding? Are you avoiding Senior Brother’s words? Professor finds it inconvenient to admit this to Senior Brother, but can you now admit it only to me when we’re together?"
Faced with such a Shi Nian, he had no response.
He gazed down at her, suddenly coming forward, pressing her against the wall, his lips landing fiercely on hers.
This was the hallway of the police station, monitored on both sides. His lips pressed firmly on hers; his hands raised, pointing directly at the cameras. The policemen behind the cameras saw this, shook their heads with a sigh, and temporarily turned off those cameras.
Their long-awaited kiss was like magnetic attraction. Though he had his little selfish thoughts, the deadly attraction between their lips and tongues came vividly and deeply, like a bright bolt of lightning instantly piercing through reason.
She knew why he suddenly kissed her, yet she resisted; but when their lips met, she helplessly forgot everything.
When she realized it herself, she was unwittingly standing on tiptoe, hands actively entwining his neck.
He became even more engrossed, forgetting where they were, his hands heatedly pushing at her clothing, wanting more than just a kiss...
She let out a soft cry, urgently using force to push him away. He was forced to retreat two steps back, yet his eyes still bore the mist of longing, greedily watching her.
She was both embarrassed and anxious, glancing around like a thief, afraid that Qi Xiuqi in the interrogation room and Guan Liang in the observation room would come out at this moment.
He raised his long eyebrows high, lightly touching the corner of his lips with the tip of his tongue, savoring the last trace of sweetness she left behind.
His voice hoarse, almost a whisper: "They wouldn’t be so lacking in perception..."
It was meant to be reassuring, yet it made her more embarrassed. The reason they weren’t lacking perception must be because they had already discovered what they were doing, so they perceptively didn’t come out!
She stomped her foot in annoyance and walked away.
He sighed lightly and still followed her.
The night was deep, the dark corridors of the police station pierced by shadows.
She and he walked one after the other along the quietly dim corridor, neither speaking casually, yet there was a tranquil peacefulness in their hearts.
At the entrance, she paused and turned back. She intended to glare fiercely at him, but her face flushed at the moment their eyes met. So the purpose of the fierce glare was not achieved, and she could only glance away: "I mean to say, don’t think that just because you got your way earlier, that I really forgot to keep questioning. I saw clearly you were evading just now. I won’t give you the chance to keep evading; I want an answer... Mr. Tang, I want to know what role you truly played in the past incident."
She gave him a sideways glance: "Even if you never explicitly say it, I know that in fact you know everything. That means you must have participated in some form in that year’s events! I have the right to know, don’t think you can hide it from me!"
She finished, taking a breath: "I gave you the chance to evade today because I think maybe you need time to sort it out too; but I won’t give you the chance to keep evading."
Before she’d finished speaking, she looked up to see clouds gathering in his eyes.
She couldn’t help but feel a chill in her heart.
Tonight she had let him go, even agreed to give him time to sort things out, yet why was he looking at her like that?
But then she noticed something wrong. He was facing her, yet the clouds in his eyes were not caused by her; he was—looking towards the door.
Her heart trembled, and she hurriedly turned to look, feeling a shiver inside.
Outside the glass door, on the steps, illuminated by the bright headlights of a car, stood a tall figure.
Even though the light from the lamp outside was so harsh, he stood in the shadow beside it, so the color of his clothes was indiscernible, yet under the dazzling lamplight in such a night, they appeared dark black.
She didn’t know when he had arrived, or how long he had been standing there.
Shi Nian felt a shiver on her scalp and closed her eyes.
It was her fault; while walking through the corridor, her steps had been forward, but her eyes and attention had been on the back of her head. And he, always vigilant, had quietly kept his gaze fixed on her head the entire time as they walked... Yet neither of them noticed the outside.
She should have realized he would come to pick her up.
It was so late, and she had come to the police station alone. How could he not come?
She gathered her thoughts and said to him, "Mr. Tang, this is far enough. Thank you for your kindness, but please stay here. I’m leaving."
She then turned and opened the glass door to leave, heading towards the glaring lamplight outside and that figure standing in the dark. Using her hand to shield her eyes from the light, she finally saw him clearly, and was joyfully surprised: "Why are you here? Didn’t we agree that I would go back myself?"
Only then did he step forward, entering the light’s shadow. Only then was it clear that his coat was not black, but deep purple. A color formed by the merger of deep sapphire and burgundy, the darkest calm and a hint of alcoholic warmth mixed into an understated intensity.
Shi Nian smiled.
He raised an eyebrow softly: "This is why I was so eager to see you. Hmm, I just bought this new coat, a color I’ve never tried before, and I didn’t know if it would be presentable." As he said this, he calmly took her small hand, removed his pair of lambskin gloves, and held her hand warmly in his own: "I promised you I wouldn’t wear all black again, so I chose a new color for you to see first."
Shi Nian lowered her eyes, unable to help a small smile tugging at her lips.
This color, was indeed an improvement over the previous safe camel color. With his sort of temperament, revealing even a hint of understated intensity was remarkable.
And that rarity, all for her.
She nodded: "It looks good, really. You’re a clothes hanger, once you’ve worn this, I bet even the brand’s own mascot would be embarrassed to wear it."
He smiled slightly, without saying a word.
But a not-too-warm voice sounded behind her: "Talking nonsense again. Where on this earth could there be a second coat like Cousin’s? How could there be a brand? How could any mascot ever have the chance to try it on?"
