Attention Sir, I Have Your Heart Handcuffed!-Chapter 358 - 238: The Answer (First Update)
Shi Nian squinted his eyes.
"What exactly did she say that made you hate her to this extent? Kidnapping is a serious crime, is it really worth doing this?"
The person sneered coldly, "Worth it or not, I know in my heart."
Shi Nian squinted and stared into the person’s eyes, "What’s your name?"
The person refused to speak, so Shi Nian looked at the man with black eyes guarding him, waiting for him to answer instead.
The person glanced at Shi Nian then looked up, his gaze crossing Shi Nian and drifting towards Huangfu Huazhang.
Huangfu Huazhang showed no reaction, still calmly looking down at the crystal skull at the top of his cane.
The light was dim, but there was still an eerie glow reflecting off the skull. The light refracted several times inside the crystal, releasing a dreamlike radiance.
Xia Zuo saw this and walked up, leaning in to Shi Nian’s ear, "His name is Wang Dong."
Shi Nian nodded, then stepped back and walked to Huangfu Huazhang’s side, lowering his voice, "Wang Dong kidnapped Xiong Jie, so you suspect the person who killed Xiong Jie is also her."
Shi Nian noticed Huangfu Huazhang’s choice of words earlier; he mentioned there was some "clue" in Xiong Jie’s case, but didn’t say they had caught the murderer. So in Huangfu Huazhang’s eyes, Wang Dong was still just a suspect, not confirmed as the perpetrator.
Huangfu Huazhang nodded, "He kidnapped Xiong Jie intending to torment her. But she was rescued by us, which in some way hurt his self-esteem and angered him. So he might escalate and use more vicious means to punish Xiong Jie."
Shi Nian nodded in agreement.
"I also agree with your speculation. When I spoke to him earlier, his gaze was hesitant and he didn’t dare look directly into my eyes, clearly not telling the whole truth; also when he spoke, although his head leaned forward, his body clearly leaned backward, indicating he was hiding something."
"Given his current situation, if even now he hasn’t fully spoken the truth, then what he’s hiding must be something extremely important. Sir, I believe he is concealing the fact that he has murdered Xiong Jie."
Huangfu Huazhang nodded, looking up at Xia Zuo, "Make him talk."
Xia Zuo nodded in silence, then signaled to the two men beside Wang Dong.
"Sir, please wait!"
Shi Nian hurriedly stepped forward to stop them, "It’s better to report to the police. Getting him to confess is a police matter, if your men conduct private interrogations, your reputation might be compromised!"
"Getting him to talk is a police matter?"
Huangfu Huazhang remained silent, but Xia Zuo couldn’t resist a cold laugh, "Miss trusts the police too much. If the police truly had the ability to make him talk, they wouldn’t have failed to solve Xiong Jie’s murder case until now. At the very least, they wouldn’t have simply concluded Xiong Jie’s death as a fire accident."
Xia Zuo, dressed in black, stood in the dim light and somewhat resembled Huangfu Huazhang.
"Miss, Xiong Jie holds no value to sir and us. But because you care, sir personally got involved in handling this. Do you know how elite these people fulfilling your wish are under sir’s command? They initially had critical missions yet due to your wish, they were summoned from all over the world by sir."
They return to execute the mission, to carry out sir’s orders, directly fulfilling your wish, Miss. They’re not working for the police, doing all the hard work only to hand the person over to the police for them to reap the benefits. Apologies, Miss, this is not our style.
"Xia Zuo, shut up!" Huangfu Huazhang coldly chastised.
Xia Zuo quickly fell silent, bowing to Shi Nian.
Shi Nian lowered his head, feeling deeply ashamed.
"Sir... and Xia Zuo, as well as everyone present, thank you for your hard work."
"No need to apologize, just let us complete our tasks." Xia Zuo raised his head, his expression indifferent.
Shi Nian could only nod.
Xia Zuo then gave a look to the two men. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Huangfu Huazhang stood up and reached to hold Shi Nian’s wrist, "Let them work, let’s go sit in the living room. It won’t take long, we’ll have answers soon."
Shi Nian could only nod somberly, and followed Huangfu Huazhang out of the bedroom into the living room.
A painful scream from Wang Dong followed from behind.
Shi Nian shuddered at the sound.
Huangfu Huazhang turned slightly to look at him, "If you’re soft-hearted at this moment, think of Xiong Jie. She was locked in that bedroom for days and nights. The most cruel thing was that she could sit by the window and see everything outside. When she finally saw someone passing by, the hope for survival surely burned in her heart, she’d try everything to knock on the window, scream at the top of her voice. She thought she could be saved... but she didn’t know the window glass she faced was specially treated, transparent yet soundproof, even layered with a single coating. She could see outside, but people outside couldn’t see her; no matter if she shouted until her throat was hoarse, or tried hard to hit the window glass, it wouldn’t be heard outside.
"Hope for rescue ignited again and again, only to be cruelly extinguished again and again. This would be a nearly cruel challenge to anyone’s nerves. That’s why Xiong Jie had acute PTSD after being rescued."
Huangfu Huazhang spoke while pausing to glance back, his gaze sweeping towards the bedroom, his eyes cold and face calm.
"So for a person like him, why should you have even a shred of sympathy? His screams won’t be more desperate than Xiong Jie’s, just consider it as him repaying Xiong Jie."
Shi Nian took a deep breath, his legs and feet numb, yet he remained steady and smiled quietly.
Under the gaze of Huangfu Huazhang, he calmly sat down on the sofa and smiled obediently.
"Sir is right, he deserved it."
Only then did Huangfu Huazhang sit down beside Shi Nian, gently reaching over to hold Shi Nian’s fingers in his palm.
He supported his forehead with his other hand, tilting his head to look over: "Your hands are so cold."
Shi Nian did not avoid his hand, bowing his head with an embarrassed smile: "Actually, sir’s hands are just as cold."
"Ha..." Huangfu Huazhang laughed: "Although the reasons our hands are cold are different, I really like hearing you say that. It sounds as if you and I are destined to be together, I like it."
.
The two suddenly fell into silence.
Shi Nian instinctively perked up his ears, listening intently to the sounds coming from the bedroom. Meanwhile, he calmly rested his hand on his forehead, appreciating her profile.
.
Sure enough, not more than a quarter of an hour later, the bedroom door quietly opened, and Xia Zuo walked out with a serious expression.
He approached Huangfu Huazhang, bowed, intending to report in Huangfu Huazhang’s ear.
Huangfu Huazhang turned aside, raising his eyebrows in thin annoyance.
"What’s this about? If it’s the answer the miss wants, report it directly to her. In front of me, there’s no need to deliberately hide it from the miss."
Xia Zuo looked embarrassed, raising his eyes toward Shi Nian.
Shi Nian hurriedly waved his hand: "Sir, please don’t say that!"
Huangfu Huazhang chuckled, reaching out to pinch her fingers, admiring their sharp tips: "Why not say it like this. So be it, no one is allowed to disobey, and you’re not allowed to refuse either."
Shi Nian’s face was suddenly shocked, then a blush appeared on her cheeks, and she could only bow her head slightly: "Thank you, sir."
Huangfu Huazhang laughed loudly in satisfaction.
Xia Zuo had no choice but to move past Huangfu Huazhang, coming to Shi Nian’s side, bowing to report to Shi Nian: "Wang Dong has already confessed."
"That day he returned here, found Xiong Jie missing. He panicked, unsure if he had already been exposed. He waited a day, but the police did not come to arrest him; his heart became even more uneasy, so he sneaked into the community where Xiong Jie lived, looking for opportunities to chat with Xiong Jie’s neighbors, hoping to find out how much Xiong Jie knew and how much she had said."
"He was also a cautious person, knowing that casually chatting with community residents would arouse suspicion. Luckily, during those days, the community was conducting a campaign for a gubernatorial candidate, so he pretended to be a volunteer from the candidate’s campaign office, talking to residents and soliciting their opinions."
"As it turned out, when he was chatting with Xiong Jie’s neighbor, the elderly woman living alone, there was a problem with her gas and she couldn’t prepare dinner. So he volunteered to fix the gas for the elderly woman... that’s when he took the opportunity to tamper with the gas pipeline."
Shi Nian closed his eyes: "I see. But I still don’t understand, how exactly did Xiong Jie offend him?"
Xia Zuo paused slightly: "According to him, it wasn’t Xiong Jie who offended him. He was... directed by someone behind the scenes."
"Who?!" Shi Nian was startled, raising his gaze to stare at Xia Zuo.
.
Tang Family.
It was the weekend, and Tang Yanyu and Tang Yanjian were both on holiday, reluctant to get up in the morning.
Tang Yansheng, however, needed to go to the store.
She walked past her two sisters’ rooms, treading lightly, afraid that the sound of her high heels on the wooden floor would echo and wake the two girls from their sweet dreams.
However, just as she reached Tang Yanjian’s window, she unexpectedly heard Yan Jian cry out in pain: "Little Sound actually dared to mess around with another little actor!"
Tang Yansheng was suddenly taken aback, unable to help but stop in her tracks.
The old Huizhou-style house, which Old Sir Tang had entirely relocated to M Country, retained its original structure, so those three-hundred-year-old floorboards couldn’t resist letting out an ominous creak.
Inside the window, the window latch clattered open, and Tang Yanjian made eye contact with Tang Yansheng.
