Athanasia: My Hacker System-Chapter 182: Recharging His Mental Points in Five Seconds!
John didn’t know about any of that, and truthfully, even if he learned the details later, he wouldn’t have cared. Cissel took the look on Lanmar’s face as a fair price for all the headaches this Bulltor brought to her and others back then.
Even if she knew John wasn’t aware of what the Bulltor did, she kept her lips tight shut, watched with amusement the fair payback that giant deserved fair and square.
As for John, his focus was on the upgraded cornerstone ability of his new battle tactics. He had called the Bulltor over to verify the MP Absorption ability effect, check and see if he could replenish lots of Mental Points or not before jumping directly into the fray.
John glanced at his own profile one last time, while Lanmar lowered his head in guilt, not daring to look directly at John’s eyes.
[Mental Point (MP): 2757.2/4163.2]
He checked his Mental Points after the repeated use of his sword’s special effect back when he fought against the yellow monsters. The repeated activation of the special effect had taken its toll.
He knew he was going to burn through massive amounts of Mental Points in the incoming battle, especially if he intended to use his Logic Bombs as the main killing weapon besides the Lightning Dance.
Consequently, he wanted to see exactly how much he could recharge from the Bulltors, who were currently planned to stick to the safety of the walls and watch the carnage from above.
’Time to know the truth... MP Absorption!’
John reached out and placed his hand silently on Lanmar’s leg, the only part of the towering giant he could easily reach without jumping. The Bulltor looked down at him with a mixture of confusion and burgeoning dread.
He thought John would shout at him, insult him, or even worse, give him the order to follow them down there to get killed. Yet John remained motionless, counting the seconds in his head.
John couldn’t sense the absorbed Mental Points, nor would he receive a notification about what he absorbed. So, after the passage of the five seconds, he pulled his hand back, checked his Mental Points at his profile, and slowly, an evil smile spread across his face.
"W... What’s wrong?!! W... What did... What did you do?!!!" Lanmar shuddered the moment he spotted that expression. He retreated a couple of steps, his heavy footsteps shaking out of his fear that John did something to him, his voice stuttering as he asked the question.
"Ah, it’s nothing," John replied. His smile only grew wider, a sight that instantly froze the blood in the Bulltor’s veins.
’Poor Lanmar, poor Bulltors,’ John thought. ’You aren’t just allies anymore. You’re my rich, portable Mental Points recharge tanks for me. Hehehe!’
John moved his slit-like eyes, accompanied by that dangerously broad smile, over the rest of the Bulltors standing nearby. Every single one of them felt the same danger alarms that Lanmar had. They didn’t know what he had done to Lanmar, or what he was planning for them, yet they could easily tell it was something bad, something terrible!
[Mental Point (MP): 4163.2/4163.2]
John checked his Mental Points reserves, now full to the brim, and felt his confidence skyrocket. He couldn’t tell exactly how much he had absorbed from Lanmar since he had started with a partial tank, but it was at least over one thousand four hundred points from a single five-second touch!
He had never expected the Bulltors to possess such a staggering amount of Mental Points. But as he pondered it, a sobering thought occurred to him: perhaps the massive increase he had received from the cores wasn’t meant to make him overpowered in the traditional sense.
Instead, it was likely the system’s way of bringing him up to the standard of the elite races within this pocket trial. And that was a dangerous realisation for him to ponder more upon.
’It also means the races out there aren’t pushovers as I initially thought,’ he mused. He couldn’t judge the entire world based solely on the Bulltors on his side; their fighting prowess was clearly far behind him and his friends now that they had ingested the active cores.
But if a weak giant like Lanmar held thousands of MP, what did the Hivemind elite beast or insect possess? How strong was this race really? He had to put this into consideration, just in case.
"They are already upon us!"
Elena, powered by the revelation that she had finally unlocked her attributes, was the most pumped person on the walls. The moment she spotted the distant, flickering shadows of the incoming Wrathers, the red silhouettes of their distant forms blurring against the further away white fog, she instantly shouted and pointed towards their direction. Her sledgehammers were already out, as she threw them in the air and caught them, as if she were warming up for the incoming slaughter.
"Wait," John suddenly said. Unlike what she expected and wanted to do, he extended his arm to stop her in her tracks. "I’ll go down first. You all stay up here for a moment and follow only on my signal."
"What?!" Elena was surprised, and Luke looked equally baffled. To them, the strategy had always been a collective charge. But Cissel and Ricky shared a meaningful look; they knew exactly what he planned. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
He wanted the field to himself to freely test his new suite of attacks and magic tricks against the Wrathers without any interruption or accidental friendly crossfire from them.
Before any of them could say another word or offer an objection, John stepped off the edge of the high wall. Before consuming the cores, he wouldn’t have dared to perform such a reckless jump; the fall was dozens of meters onto hard-packed ground. But now, he knew his Defence and HP stats were far too high to be bothered by something as trivial as a high fall from such height.
He hit the ground with a dull thud, a small cloud of dust erupting around his boots.
