Astral Flower-Chapter 98: Tube Babies

The age difference between Nan Hua and Nan Xian Mu was very short. So short that most ordinary people would not be able to understand the reason. For them, it was inexplicable that a sibling could be born with such a short difference in time.

But for the people in Green Planet, it was surprising but not rare.

There were several other people with the same situation.

Nan Hai Yan and Lin Mei Yu didn’t have children through normal means. They were using in vitro fertilization, a method to fertilize an egg outside of a woman’s body. All they need was to take out what they need from a woman and man’s body.

Once it was fertilized, it would be brought inside a woman’s womb again.

The latest time before it was brought inside again was several weeks. If it was not brought inside, the fetus will die.

But there was also another method for women who didn’t want their body to change because of birthing children. That was to let the baby born in the test tube cabin for nine months before she or he was brought out.

This was one of the new technology in Green Planet.

In order to help them reproduce more children because many people focused on their career and didn’t want to get married at all. Some women didn’t even want to carry their children for nine months because of various reasons.

Thus, this method was developed.

But it was not perfect.

Babies developed in the test tube cabin might not be able to survive due to the difference between the test tube cabin and a real womb. They had to be monitored every day with the devices to ensure that the baby could survive.

The process took a long time.

And required a lot of money.

Based on the current research method, only less than 20% of the babies who were born through the cabin would be able to survive. The rest of them would die before they could even be born safely.

This low success rate made them have to use a lot of resources in order to maintain it, which was not very cost effective. Thus, it would not usually be used unless it was for something important such as if the mother had passed away but the family required a successor.

They would have to opt out this method.

But not all of them was such special case.

All the children between Nan Hai Yan and Lin Mei Yu were test tube baby, but Nan Xian Yu and Nan Xian Mu were born normally.

Only Nan Hua was born through the test tube cabin.

And also the reason why Nan Hua didn’t have the same first name as the other two.

It might be also the reason why Lin Mei Yu didn’t have much affection on this daughter of hers that was brought in the test lab and not from her body.

Nan Hua was not very clear for the third statement.

No one in the Nan Family knew about the fact that there was actually another baby that was developed in the lab by Lin Mei Yu. Once they found out about it through some methods, they brought Nan Hua back to Nan Family and then there were a lot of dramas.

Nan Hua was not very clear about the subsequent events.

Nan Family wanted to cover it up and even after she research it, there was not much things that was mentioned in the internet.

All that left was simply the news of the three children in Nan Family.

Nan Hua blinked her eyes and turned to look at Nan Xian Mu.

Nan Xian Mu was taken aback by his friend’s question. He laughed. "Even if it’s not as grand as today, I don’t mind at all."

Nan Xian Mu’s friend’s clicked his tongue. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. I got it."

"Don’t spout nonsense." Nan Xian Mu pushed his friend away before he started to say anything strange. He turned to look at Nan Hua with a bright smile. "Go and introduce yourself to the others, Sister! There will be many people who want to start associating with you."

Nan Xian Mu’s attitude towards Nan Hua could also represent Nan Family to an extent.

With him receiving Nan Hua warmly, it was estimated that the people around him would also treat Nan Hua much better.

Nan Hua understood Nan Xian Mu’s intention and nodded in his direction.

She then turned her head and looked at these influential people, her clear black obsidian pupil eyes blinked.

It seemed that she would have to start interacting with these people slowly.

Her acting skills had to be improved again.

Not far from them, Lin Mei Yu watched Old Master Nan introduced Nan Hua warmly and wanted to snort.

This daughter whom she didn’t carry by herself was not someone that Lin Mei Yu actually cared about. For her, the existence of Nan Hua will only remind her of the days when she was nearly thrown out of Nan Family.

Sora’s Corner: in vitro fertilization.

This method has already existed in this current age, but the price was hella expensive. After all, it required a lab and all to do it.

The babies who were born through this way would be called test tube baby. This method was first made in order to help people who have problems having children through normal means. I don’t know the exact details of how the fertilization is done in the lab, so if you want to find out more, you can search for it.

As for the birthing method (test tube) that I mentioned in this novel, unfortunately, it doesn’t exist (yet) lol. XD I don’t know if there’s any research related to it because I’m not someone of biology or medical world. Maybe if there’s a reader who know something can mention it in the comment section :p
