Assassin at Range: The Sniper's Lethal Power-Chapter 95 - : Into the Water! Black Tide Giant Snake!
Tristan leisurely left the tavern.
This trip had been very rewarding. A ruin related to Shadow power! was definitely worth investigating.
"Speaking of which, that coordinate should still be a lake," he muttered with a frown.
ExoGenesis had undergone several major updates, changing the terrain in many ways. Describing it as going from "the sea to the mulberry fields" wouldn’t even be an exaggeration.
The coordinates Edith provided were something Tristan vaguely recalled as once being a lake. However, after a certain battle, the water had evaporated, turning the area into a basin.
If it was still a lake, then he’d need to prepare some items.
After leaving the black market and heading back to Davi City, Tristan found a potion shop and purchased several bottles of underwater breathing potions. These potions were made by alchemists using blackmouth fish oil and thorn algae.
They were essential for underwater exploration and combat, and accordingly, they were quite expensive.
Five bottles of the potion cost him two gold coins, which made Tristan wince.
"I really need to find myself an alchemist," he muttered under his breath, lamenting the steep price.
After a few more grumbles, he left Davi City once again.
Staring at the vast lake, Tristan couldn’t shake one thought from his mind.
"How did Edith even find the ruin?"
He compared the coordinates and realized that Edith had given him a spot right in the center of the lake. There was no island in the middle, meaning the ruin was likely underwater.
And the Black Tide Lake, as it was called, had depths exceeding 100 meters! Who would dive that deep for fun?
Taking a deep breath, Tristan dove into the water, heading straight for the center of the lake.
Splash!
As he entered the water, a dozen or so Three-Fin Crocodiles quickly swam toward him from a distance. These creatures were named for the three sail-like fins on their backs, and they were agile and tough in the water, making them a headache for many players.
Tristan raised his hand and sent a Shadow Dagger flying.
Although it didn’t have the Breaking Stealth Strike bonus, the high damage was more than enough to take down these common monsters.
The leading Three-Fin Crocodile didn’t even make a sound before it was struck down.

Then, the Shadow Dagger ricocheted, and Tristan managed to finish off the remaining crocs before the Toxic Blood Plague could explode.
The Gold Grade Shadow Dagger’s properties were perfect for these small skirmishes, and its ricochet range was even larger than that of the Toxic Blood Plague, making it more effective at spreading the damage.
Had the Shadow Dagger reached Gold Grade in the previous valley battle, things would have been a lot easier for Tristan.
Continuing to swim and eliminate enemies, Tristan eventually reached the center of the lake.
He took one of the underwater breathing potions and swigged it down before plunging into the depths, swimming rapidly toward the lake bottom.
The underwater light was dim. After diving down 40 meters, it was almost pitch black. But as he continued another 20 or 30 meters, a faint light appeared in his vision.
It was weak but unmistakable.
Before he could continue further, a shadow appeared from the corner of his eye and blocked his path.
A giant snake, over 10 meters in length, loomed before him.
[Black Tide Giant Snake (Gold Grade)]
Level: 20 Health: 1,800,000/1,800,000 Attack: 6,000 Defense: 3,500 Skills: Shadow Shock, Whirlpool Strangulation, Deep Water Shield, Thick Scales, Venomous Fangs Description: Influenced by an unknown force, this small water snake grew into the monstrous serpent before you.
"Holy crap!" Tristan couldn’t help but exclaim.
Edith certainly didn’t treat him like an outsider. She could’ve told him about this surprise earlier!
But seeing the Black Tide Giant Snake confirmed it: the ruin was definitely related to Shadow power!.
Otherwise, how could an ordinary water snake grow to such an enormous size?
It wasn’t just a matter of feeding it power-ups or using stimulants—it had to be something far more significant.
And the fact that the Black Tide Giant Snake had Shadow Shock in its skill set meant it had absorbed Shadow power! This was no ordinary snake.
Tristan smiled, his spirits lifted. "I didn’t expect to get a few items before even entering the ruin. Nice."
He didn’t waste any time. Using Blink, he instantly teleported away from the snake’s line of sight and activated Shadow Stealth.
As he vanished into the shadows, the water swirled around him. Tristan floated easily to a safe distance, at least 50 meters from the giant snake.
His Dark Gold Grade Shadow Stealth wasn’t perfect. If he made any sudden movements, the changing water currents could attract the snake’s attention. The only way to deal with it was to ride the waves created by the snake’s movements to stay hidden and get closer to the safe zone.
Thinking quickly, Tristan launched Rain of Corruption, a skill that wouldn’t break his stealth.
-9,654!
-9,654!
The damage numbers continued to rise. By the end of the skill, the total damage exceeded 140,000, and combined with the effects of Toxic Blood Plague, Tristan had dealt nearly 170,000 damage!
The Black Tide Giant Snake was enraged. It began scanning the area with its vertical pupils, trying to find the source of the attack.
But no matter how hard it looked, it couldn’t locate Tristan.
Furious, the snake swung its tail violently, trying to crush the enemy into pieces.
However, all this did was push Tristan another ten meters further away, making his position even safer.
Tristan then threw out another Shadow Dagger and waited patiently in place.
-541,501!
Over half a million damage! The massive hit took a significant chunk out of the snake’s health bar.
This was the combined effect of the Gold Grade Shadow Dagger, Dark Gold Grade Shadow Stealth, and the upgraded Sniper God at Level 2, all working together to deliver devastating damage!
Not to mention, the Goblin Warrior Medal gave an additional 15% damage increase, which made a world of difference in Tristan’s hands compared to any other player.
The strike left the Black Tide Giant Snake in a panic.
Fortunately for the snake, it managed to spot the direction where the attack had come from. With a powerful tail swipe, it charged forward, its bloodshot eyes gleaming.
The enemy had stopped moving.
Had it given up? Was it intimidated by the giant snake’s power and forgotten to flee?
To the Black Tide Giant Snake, none of that mattered. With its strength, as long as it got close enough, it could kill the enemy with a simple impact.
Boom!
An explosive sound echoed underwater as the Black Tide Giant Snake collided with something.
It had indeed hit its target—but to its surprise, a dark purple mirror-like surface appeared and absorbed the impact completely.
Tristan, using the energy from the collision, quickly retreated.
Then, he vanished once again.
The snake tried to chase the disturbance, but it was already too late.
The enemy had hidden in the swirling water and was safely out of reach.
The Black Tide Giant Snake was left bewildered, unsure of what had just happened.
What kind of power could block its direct assault? It could smash underwater boulders with ease, but it had been stopped by a small mirror.
Faintly, the snake began to smell a familiar scent.
That mirror… it resembled the one found at the underwater ruin!
